I volunteer after work when I can and bring a shelter dog here for a walk. Even when it's hot outside, the trails have lots of shade from the tall trees, so it's much cooler than most parks. There's also a creek where the dogs love to cool off and a splash pad for kids to enjoy. This has become my favorite park to bring the shelter dogs because they get to stretch their legs, sniff around, splash in the creek, and just enjoy being outside for a while. If you live nearby and have a little free time, I definitely recommend checking out the shelter's Doggy Day Out program. Taking a dog out for a walk or an adventure for a few hours can really brighten their day, and it's a rewarding experience for you too.

I did noticed a TON of flies and ants, I'm guessing they haven't sprayed in a while. Just beware and bring bug spray. The splash pad is open Labor Day through Memorial Day, 10-7pm except Tuesdays. No water balloons are allowed since they clog up the drains. I would recommend bringing your own shade and chair. And snacks and drinks! Whew, it gets super hot. Fun park though!

They also have the fountains for her and shade. I usually bring her with a ball and let her have at it for about an hour or so. I've only been one time when there were other dogs actually in her play area and they were sweet but just a little to rowdy for my girl. She's just used to playing with her ball and they wanted to play with her - so its no-ones fault! I will continue to let her stretch her legs here when able!

The very back seating on bleachers doesn't have a lot of space for your full body(tush) to be seated comfortably. If you have stadium chairs/cushions, come prepared with them. Even a blanket for added comfort. Concessions available, like most fields. I noticed the grill for burgers outside of the concession but not sure how those taste. They smelled good.

So I've had a couple very different experiences with the Generations park at boys ranch ... Aka as…read morethe city's partnership with YMCA that combined the YMCA that had been on Central with Boys Ranch which was a city park with small water park/pool area. Which also acts as the city's rec center. There was concerns ahead of time about the city paying to build the facility for the YMCA to take it over; but the way I think it works out is that it still belongs to the city, but YMCA manages it so they are responsible for staffing, pay, etc. As a getting in to the different parts of the place ... if you are coming for the parks I recommend coming from Fossil Ridge. You can get to the pool & gym from here but you'll be taking a very winding path from the. The entrance takes you easily to the two parks on the grounds. If you are coming to swim or use the gym there is an easier entrance to the buildings parking lot from what I think is McClain road. Coming from Harwood that's the light for the road right next to the post office. My first experience was coming up to take a tour. The staff up front was extremely helpful and friendly and the facilities look amazing. I was pretty much ready to sign up but life happened and we hadn't picked back up the paperwork prior to the birthday party we just went too. My second experience was a phone call; again staff was helpful.... I was calling to see how we'd go about booking a room for a party but not a swimming party ... kinda think more of like for a baby shower or 1st birthday. They were helpful on the phone, and the price per hour was amazing for what we needed, but the system to book something like that was we needed to email one particular person and you MIGHT hear back and you might not. Not something that you need when trying to book something of the nature. When compared to another local rec center that has that all available on their website to book without need of calling or emailing. My most recent experience was a pool birthday for one of my kids friends. There was no real check in system, we walked in with two other families from school and the birthday kiddos sibling came up to walk us back to the room. The party host wasn't very attentive; we only saw him two or three times in the 2 little more than 2 hours my kiddo & I had been there. It took 10 minutes into the party for us to find out our kids needed wristbands, not counting the time the party parents had already been there; which all of the kids there had already been in the pool for that whole time. The wristbands were in boxes on top of a random shelf so wasn't obvious to us at all. The dad of the birthday kid had to make 4 trips back and forth to bring things in and was only told about carts they had for parents to use when leaving. The parents said they went to an area a few times to try to track the host down but never could find him. Lucky the party went off with little to no issue and the parents said the price is outstanding. The indoor pool area is great that you can see everything from most points so it's easy to keep track of kids. They have two big slides which the kids liked. Lots of life guards, and all the areas we had been in was well maintained. The one major change on upkeep is they need more mats in the party room. They had one mat at the door but the tile floor in the party room quickly became hazardous with as many wet kids walking in & out as we did. Even with the kids walking in with towels on them. Luckily some folks had brought extra towels which helped ... but with the MIA party host we would have been out of luck with a number of slipping and sliding kids if we didn't have the spare towels. Hopefully they can get some of the kinks worked out from being new.

This little lake is a beautiful part of the Bedford Boys Ranch park. There is a picnic area…read moreadjacent to the lake, and the playgrounds are within a short walk. There is plenty of parking, and there are sidewalks all the way around the lake for a nice stroll. Dogs are allowed, but please pick up after them - people do a good job of keeping the park clean. There are wrought iron benches set all around the lake if you need to take a rest or just want to enjoy the peaceful tranquility. The lake is tucked back behind a residential area, so there is no thru traffic. I recommend this gem as a lovely place to walk for fitness, meditate, stop and have a picnic, or just sit and read in the quiet.

1/17/21 This was the first time ever that we have visited the Bedford Boys Ranch Park. We like the…read moreneighborhood that surrounded the park, and we noticed the ducks and Canadian geese throughout the as well as some turtles that were basking in the sun. We also noticed that part of the park is under construction which we've became aware that the city is up grading a part of the park. From all appearances the park is really cleaned, we also noticed a young man propose to his fiance and of course she said yes. LOL There were also a few young people playing Frisbee golf and they really looked like they were having some fun. :) We also met a nice lady who was walking her dogs who lived at some of the nearby apartments and she said that she had been living there for a few years and we all notice a man fishing other people jogging and just having a great time and truth be told the weather was also nice for a stroll. We'll visit this place yet again. Can't wait to see the upgrades to the park when its all said and done. I recommend this lovely place to walk for fitness, meditate, stop and have a picnic, grilling with friends, a game of Frisbee golf, fishing, and/or just sit and read in the quiet.

It was fun and for the splash pad water to turn on, you just pressed the button on the concrete pillar that is close to the entrance. We arrived early enough to grab a table that's inside the splash pad area. There are only two tables that have two benches arched to them and there are also about 4 benches to sit aside from the tables with their seating areas. It was definitely a good time. It's an enormous playground area, with a small splash pad and a trail in the back. I loved that some of the playground areas were shaded, which is crucial especially in this summer heat. Sadly, the swings aren't shaded. You can honestly be here with your little one/s for hours (when it's not as hot) since there are a lot of playground areas, swings and such a big and open grassy area for them to run around. This is for sure a shout to take your little one/s to let so if their energy out and run around or play in the different playgrounds and get on swings. Friendly reminder, parents or guardians, please look after your children, especially if you know they don't do well with other kids, even more so if the kiddos they are bullying are younger than they are. Don't get upset or bothered if another parent has to intervene, since you aren't doing anything and are just on your phone. Please be mindful and considerate of others, just in general. Everyone just wants to enjoy their time.

The splash pad is closed for the season (it's October 2021 now) but the playgrounds were being used today. Several kids were actively swinging and climbing on the various playground sets. The largest playground is completely enclosed by a low fence and has a rubberized base. There is a large picnic shelter with a few tables underneath that was being used today.
