This review is solely for the swimming area, classes, and open swim. Been taking our kids to swimming classes here for years. Started with parent and tot and now they're on their own in a group setting. They've been advancing appropriately and it's been a great experience. Prices are sign up are easy to find on the website. The facility, locker rooms, restrooms, showers all top notch. Lifeguards are always on top of things. Swimming trainers are great, give updates at the end of every class of how our children are doing. I don't remember all their names but Alyx has been amazing every time she has been a teacher for our child. They're patient and kind and make our kids as comfortable as possible. The facility is great, very big. There's a "Karen" working at the front desk. Short, older lady w/brown hair (cut in a bob) and glasses. This lady has harassed us so much; constantly telling us how we must play in A BASKETBALL GYM. Standing at the door peaking in, standing on the 2nd level staring down at us. The gym is hardly a gym as is. The times change so much. 5 am-7:30 am (shoot around time) is extremely early. Think there's an evening time also but nothing in between. SO much time was given to pickleball and other games, smh. Other than these things seem fine. read more

Just signed up for a month-to-month membership. Great place to take my small kids swimming during the day. The workout facility is nice, and the classes are great. I kept my expectations low when I joined, so I am very pleased with what I'm getting. Things that (I think) would make this place even better (but then they'd probably have to charge more): provide pool towels; open the kiddie swimming area earlier in the day...could leave it as "no lifeguard on duty, swim at your own risk" type of thing; a kid-friendly play/waiting area for when you're waiting for a child in a class. The ladies in the Kids Club are nice. When I first peeked in (b/f signing up) it looked like no one really enjoyed being there (meaning the employees). But have since gotten to know most of the ladies, and they are all very nice and friendly towards the children and adults. read more

The preschool program kicked out and denied my son because of his learning delay. The director had a nasty attitude toward us and the teachers were rude and gossip. It's too bad because they are more affordable, but the painful frustrating experience we went through really stuck with us. I will never give nrh center our business ever. If you are looking for a preschool, look elsewhere. read more

I am new to Texas and wanted to find a near by gym. So after going to a few I was impressed with the NRH Rec Center. I was treated really nice by the staff they where very helpful and now that I became a member the morning crew greets me on a first name basis. I really like all the amenities and there weight lifting area is perfect for what I am doing. Also a big plus most gyms want to keep your credit card on file. Not here you can pay with a credit card but you can pay with cash which just as good as money lol.. and there's no hidden fees that was awesome. Really enjoy coming to this gym. read more

I was once a member here. I give the facility 4.5 stars...but my experience has left me no choice but to give it a 2 stars. And this is mostly based on my experience with the 2 boys**(in their early 20's) that work the front desk area...very unprofessional and rude. The rest of the staff was nice. Those boys definitely need some training in customer relations 101. Oh and if you have a complaint/suggestion then I suggest you speak to management in person instead of emailing them...otherwise you will be treated like **** from there on out by the staff. (They (i.e. the two boys) stopped greeting me and even stopped making any eye contact with me.)After 3 weeks of them blatantly being cold and rude to me, it pretty much ruined my experience of working out there. I hope management reads this and sends those 2 to get their egos checked. **(I'm not talking about the one that looks like Zac Efron, he was always pleasant. Hope that narrows it down =) read more

I've been waiting a LONG time for the NRH Centre to open. GIven that the old fitness center consisted of a couple of rooms with a whole lot of equipment all crammed together and an overbooked gym, this place is light years beyond the old place. It's gorgeous. Let's start with the general feel of the place. It's open, airy, and SO pretty. And clean. Forgive my germy fears, but I LOVE the paper towel machines with tied down spray bottles so I can clean the equipment to my heart's content. They have three cardio areas giving members views to different areas: outside, the main entry, and then upstairs you can see the basketball courts or the machines below. The machines: they have TONS of cardio machines - all kinds! Different ellipticals, different treadmills, different stationary bikes (the old-style fan bikes, recumbents, even instructional spin bikes), stair climbers. The Centre also has a decent collection of free weights and a number of weight machines, covering a variety of muscle groups. If you look hard enough, they have a handful of mats near the medicine balls. exercise balls and bands for stretching and core workouts. And speaking of stretching, they have this cage-like thing upstairs that is a stretching dream. I love it. The upper level lends itself to a track that covers the perimeter of the fitness center. 2 exercise rooms - including a spin room - are located upstairs for classes. The only real drawback to the place is with the aquatics center. Because NRH has NRH2O, they opted to skip the outdoor pool. The indoor area is pretty fantastic, but I'm a little leery of the shared water in the lap pool and the kiddie pool. There are only 3 lanes, but I got there too late today to see how frequently the lanes are used. The pool area closes considerably earlier than the rest of the centre. When we checked it out on opening day, they said they'd close the pool 30 minute prior to the fitness center closing, but it was over an hour earlier tonight. Bummer. I'll get there a little earlier next time. Overall, it's fantastic. Membership is $290/year for an individual, and about $550/year for family. Annual pass for exercise classes is an additional $75/person. I think it's a solid value. read more

I enjoy going to the rec center the only complaint I have is with folks, mainly old men, sit at the exercise machines playing on their cell phone or just sitting there staring off into space oblivious and inconsiderate that other folks are waiting to use the machines. read more

An outdoor pool would have nudged the Centre up to 5 stars but I am sure NRH2o prohibited that. Great elevated and banked running track circles the basketball court, weight machines, cardio equipment while offering a view of the kid friendly pool and huge hot tub (warm tub really). Attached Senior area. Best for family friendly and casual fitness, not meathead bodybuilders. I hope the open volleyball night takes hold. read more

We had my sons birthday here this year. We decided to do the private swim session and rent out both of the rooms. The kids and parents loved it! We did have a few bumps during the party. First we paid to have a private session and during our time, there were people swimming that weren't apart of our party. Then the fire alarm went off and continued to go off for about 20 minutes or so, and the announcement instructed the swimmers to exit the facility and continued to do this even though they told us it was a false alarm. One of our guest who is very tech savvy had to show them how to turn it off. Other then that, it's a very nice place to take the kids to play if they like to swim or to have a party at. read more

Really nice center with everything in one place. I've been going regularly since finding out I could get a free membership through Silver Sneakers. Their monthly fee is very reasonable ($27 for seniors monthly) and I was willing to pay that before finding out it was free. I go to use their indoor track and exercise machines primarily, but they also have a nice gym, classes of all kinds, and a swim center with an indoor pool and climbing wall. Also a hot tub the size of a lap pool where everyone can spread out. read more

I love the indoor track & pool. The weight section provides more than I expected. I attended the introduction class that is free of charge to introduce you to each machine. The staff is friendly and greets me every visit. There are options for every age. I highly recommend this facility. read more

Having to drop a star, mostly for small annoyances that happen every time I try to do anything with or for my kid here. I would love it if they would offer more than 1 child fitness class so we could warrant signing her up for the 75 unlimited classes a year deal that is great for adults. Most kids fitness don't make because they only offer 1 at a time & never anything like a mini soccer or karate class ... All of the other kid classes are to young or to old for my 7 year old ... The ones we've tried fill up months before they are published in catalogs, this happened to us this summer, we tried to sign up in mid spring & everything she wanted in June/July was full & what was left was over 100 for science classes that tour the schools. This also happened for the first set of swimming, within the week I had to wait to get paid the class she needs fills up & she can't do Mondays for tutoring, so we would have to wait 2 months at best & she's lost Interest in doing it any of it @ that point. Which leaves the 2 things she can do, kids club & open swim. Which don't start till 430 & so going directly after school means we sit in the lobby for 30-an hour to anything cause I'm not going to waste gas idling or go home for 15 mins to come back. The shine is wearing off sadly, but hey she still likes swimming there so we'll keep it till she gets bored with it. read more

This has a fabulous family fitness center with state of the art equipment. Lovely pool with lap lanes, current resistance area, slide, and fun kids area. The room they rent for birthdays is in use every single weekend with families treating their kids. Add track, b:-ball courts, classrooms and a senior center... Wow! Great public recreation center. Excellent exercise facilities to include treadmills, free weights, and machines. Pool has both lap lanes and children's area, to include slides. Little wish is for punching bag and kettle bells. Membership costs a bit more for non-residents. Anyone living in North Richland Hills , however, should definitely consider membership. read more

We have been working out here for a few years, it is a nice facility and has everything most people need. The employees are always friendly and most of them have been there for a while which is nice. The only downsides are the hours and the area most people use to stretch is too small. Everything is kept clean and the pool is very nice, sometimes I wish there was a Sauna but at least they have a hot tub. read more

Great for powerlifting! They've got 2 squat racks, 2 standard benching tables, a decline bench, and a DL platform/ squat rack combo. They're growing, and will get more accessories soon. (The pool area is also fantastic) You'll be hard up to find a gym with these amenities for this cheap. The stations are always clean and arranged well. The staff is super friendly, but not intrusive. Donna's my personal fave, she's great! This gym is heavily trafficked and you need a lock for locker, thieves can be opportunistic here ‍ Overall, I'd recommend this place. It's great for any kind of gym goer. Cardio bunnies have the entire upper floor dedicated to it. Swimmers will enjoy the lap lanes. It's also next door to the library, which also rocks. This is a beautiful center, but the chlorine is extremely strong in the aquatics center to the point the air was burning our eyes. The deep pool is frequently closed or in use for lifeguard training making it hard to just go and use the facility at any time. Additionally, the lifeguards do not enforce the rules for kids during fitness hours. I called about the chlorine and was told it was within limits. Would like to see better water chemistry management, ventilation and less restrictive use of all pools during fitness hours, with restrictions on kids in resistance channel enforced. read more

The NRH Centre is one of the biggest reasons I feel so blessed to live in NRH. This huge facility contains an indoor aquatic area with a pool, lazy river, slide, rock climbing wall, lap lanes, and hot tub. The gym isn't as big as a traditional gym but it's large and varied enough to be comfortable and not crowded. The upstairs has more equipment, classrooms for group fitness, and a walking/running track. There's a basketball court, ping pong tables, a senior center, and more. It's an amazing deal for $50 a month for a resident family (classes $75 per month a year extra). Clean, well staffed, organized, nice locker rooms....love coming here. Lots of activities, classes, etc as well as childcare available. I highly recommend checking it out! read more

This was a neat place for a Christmas party! Plenty of room, a dance floor and awesome food catered by NRHC itself! They served a delicious and not dry chicken breast with veggies, potatoes in melted butter and a salad with a sweet dressing, feta, dried cranberries and walnuts! This review is for the meeting space only. I have attended three meetings here over the last couple years. Getting there from FW is not too bad for an 8am arrival, about 35 minutes, you have to know that it is on side of rec center. The parking is a bit wonky, especially when it is raining, from many rows you end up being forced to walk though muddy grass unless you want to go out of your way. The facility is nice, modern and clean. It is heated and cooled well. The main ballroom divides into 3 sections that are well soundproofed, and there is a meeting space upstairs, as well as some downstairs rooms. The chairs are not ideal for 1/2 day meetings, a bit hard and small. The A/V capabilities are more than adequate. read more

I've never experienced such great customer service in my life, they are so kind to everyone, even the people who don't deserve it. The management on the other hand is very sub par. It's sad because this is such a great facility. I think this gym is a gem! We are incredibly lucky to have such a new gym with great equipment and many machines with personal TVs. The hot tub is spectacular and pool area beautiful. I got my membership during a holiday 20% off special and bought the unlimited group class package. All in all it is like $25 a month for access to everything you could want. You have to have your own towels and lock for locker, but that is nothing compared to paying some ridiculously high price at a larger gym. read more

I have been a member of the NRH Centre since it's grand opening in 2012 and I have been an ambassador for the Centre since 2013. My daughter grew up going to kids classes here and I have been playing volleyball and going to fitness classes since it opened. The facility is beautiful and has so much to offer. The aquatics center is amazing and my daughter has taken swim lessons since she was a toddler, and we also had her 5th birthday party here! We have recently moved east of Dallas, but I continue to play volleyball in the adult coed leagues on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The managers and staff and absolutely the best... I have joined another recreation center in our current city and it doesn't compare to the NRH Centre and staff :/ read more
