A week later I took it to another place where digital notes and pictures were given to me to show things of immediate need. 2 tires since the ones on the car were worn and not safe, new engine filter, 2 belts. I had my new mechanics fix the immediate issues. I called Frank and discussed my disappointment and all I got was 'we made a mistake.... we should have let you know about the tires'. I work hard and on a fixed income - wanting a safe means of transportation. I'll never trust their work or lack of again nor will I return. Im so glad to finally have a place who not only shows you, (photos), but also hands you a full print out of suggestions and prices. No guesses anymore. Be careful ... please. it's/they're not worth throwing good money away - as I did last week. I do not recommend them

I've never had to get my own car serviced and repaired before so I wanted to know that I was in good hands. I went on facebook and asked the harbor point group what people recommended for auto repair and the great reviews of scottys caught my eye. I called up scottys and they let me know they were booked for the next 2 days (it was the first) but they said to drop it off and that they would do their best to look at it beforehand. sure enough I got a call the next day with a breakdown of what needed to be done. They gave me an estimate which was HALF WHAT THE JEEP DEALER QUOTED US, plus it didnt include some of the nonsensical stuff they suggested to fix that scottys said did not need to be done. ultimately they were able to get everything done before we headed out for vacation. when I went to go pick it up, they had admitted there was a communication error and that it wasnt ready just yet and that it would be another hour or so. I mentioned that I had just took an uber and had a lot of other things to try to work on and to see if they could try to give me an accurate time estimate. the guy there (isaac i think) just handed me a set of keys and said heres a loaner ill call you! that alone made this a 6 star experience! talk about admitting to a mistake and making up for it with phenomenal service. anywho, i know where ill be getting my oil changed moving forward! thank you guys!

After telling me they were going to waive the diagnosis fee, they took three hours to diagnose the problem and falsely told me I needed to get multiple different things replaced, costing over $2800. After telling them I was going to try and get a 2nd opinion, they charged me $180+ just for the diagnosis. I am now getting it fixed at another place for less than $1000. These guys are thieves!

They did the oil change, however the next repair also would've needed a complete oil change as well to complete the repair. Instead holding off the initial oil change for when the second job was completed, I ended up paying for two oil changes within a period of three days. The car needed a complete assessment of the engine cylinder heads and a question of whether the challenges, length of time, repairs needed and expense would be worth the money. In the end, I decided it was all worth it, largely because I trusted Ralph and his team. I found Farrow's to be thorough, knowledgeable, honest, and communicative. Not so from a local dealer's Subaru service department which may have actually contributed to the problems with the engine (but I'll never know that for sure). My car was with Ralph and team for almost two months. Ralph never sugar coated anything -- was forthcoming about the time it would take for parts, repairs, etc, and the costs. They were diligent in working to diagnose the root cause, not just symptoms, to get it right. I picked up my car yesterday and needless to say: it's running great -- like having a completely new car (at 120k miles in).
