He told me that my transmission 'is about to go' and then said he would pay me $500 for my vehicle... 2 months later I went to Land Rover Darien where all repairs were less than $500 and I was told my transmission is healthy as it can be by pros who are working on Range Rovers for decades and have certifications to show it. They didnt even charge me for diagnosis - they did it in the parking lot with their handheld computers! I'D SUGGEST: STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP! Go to Darien Land Rover.

After telling me they were going to waive the diagnosis fee, they took three hours to diagnose the problem and falsely told me I needed to get multiple different things replaced, costing over $2800. After telling them I was going to try and get a 2nd opinion, they charged me $180+ just for the diagnosis. I am now getting it fixed at another place for less than $1000. These guys are thieves!

In the end, I decided it was all worth it, largely because I trusted Ralph and his team. I found Farrow's to be thorough, knowledgeable, honest, and communicative. Not so from a local dealer's Subaru service department which may have actually contributed to the problems with the engine (but I'll never know that for sure). My car was with Ralph and team for almost two months. Ralph never sugar coated anything -- was forthcoming about the time it would take for parts, repairs, etc, and the costs. They were diligent in working to diagnose the root cause, not just symptoms, to get it right.
