This little middle-eastern place doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you get past the crowded counter area in front, there's a dining room decorated with authentic Egyptian tent hangings and khayameya applique work, hung with Moroccan-style lanterns. There's also an outdoor garden with beautiful, huge climbing roses. We had a falafel wrap and the combo platter of five different "salads." Food was very good, the grape leaves and the fresh-made pita were particularly outstanding. Also got a turkish coffee, which was nice and strong, and we got a little piece of 'basbousa' cake as a complimentary dessert. Prices were very reasonable. It didn't instantly become my most-favorite Middle Eastern place, but I'd be more than happy to go back again... there was a chicken-with-yogurt dish that looked intriguing that I'd like to try! read more

I can't say this is the best middle eastern food I've had, but it was certainly good. The lentil soup is worth it enough to come back, so tasty! Falafel was nice and moist, though a bit too uniform in texture. The hummus was really good and and vegetables used in the sandwichy gf had and on the plate I had were really fresh. However, the meat was a bit dry in her sandwich and the bread that the meal comes with wasn't particularly amazing. We tried the harira soup which had cinnamon in it, something I don't think either of us have experience in the variety of food we've had before. Was pretty good, though the lentil soup was much better. Almost forgot, we had the stuffed grape leaves which tasted good, though were drier than expected. Could be the more authentic way, though would have preferred them to be a bit more moist. I think we'd come back, though I would probably stick to certain things. At the least, this place helped turn my gf onto middle eastern food, so cool beans there. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in the city. Never have I left this place feeling that the food was subpar, the service to slow, or the atmosphere annoying. This no frills establishment focuses on three basics: tasty and well seasoned food, affordable prices, and snappy service. I'm a huge fan of the Chicken Ouzi, which never disappoints and is always filling. Aside from the ouzi, which is a pita stuffed with seasoned pilaf chicken rice, the lamb pitza, merguez plate and vegetable platter are all in my starting line up. I also love the decor. It has an awesome rustic and nostalgic far east feel, even down to the crow bar door that separates the kitchen from the inside dining room. If you want supper fancy, keep walking down Atlantic. However, if you want a full belly, some change left in your wallet, and an appetite at ease, Bedouin Tent is the place to come. read more

Wow, I just had the BEST PITA bread of my life! It's so soft, warm, and chewy here.. I've never had anything like it. Is this how pita bread is supposed to taste?? I feel like I've been deceived all my life. I ordered the lamb plate and it was a decent portion so I couldn't even finish it after eating a whole pita. The shaved lamb was very flavorful and tender. I also tried their chicken, and it was also delicious. They put a lot of peppery spices onto their meat. The plate also comes with a big serving of light and authentic hummus. Just a fantastic meal at an affordable price. Service can be a bit slow, which is why I can't give it 5 stars. But other than that, would definitely come again or order delivery. Well where do I start....maybe with the fact the store has been SHUT DOWN by I assume the Department of Health. Here I was, hungry and craving the Mediterranean classic, falafel sandwich which is quite delicious from here. Much to my surprise, I walked up to the door and witnessed the sign for myself which must have been placed recently because a local seemed surprised to see the sign as well. The falafel and chicken sandwich was/is/will be again hopefully again excellent. Who can beat that just baked/fluffy pita. The boy and I decided to check this place out before catching a rooftop movie at DeKalb market. He ordered the lambajin (minced lamb on a "pitza") which looked so good. He loved it and he ate the pita (huge and fresh) that came with my Merguez (spicy lamb sausage) as well. I quite enjoyed the plate- it was pretty much a lamb kofta but spiced well. The salad that came with it was excellent- and I'm not a big fan of salads. Service was a little off but we didn't mind. Roasted beets with olive oil and parsley is probably the best thing ever made in my life. I love finding authentic little places like Bedouin Tent that you can get a very tasty meal with huge portions for not a lot of dough! The outdoor garden is great place to sit on a warm sunny day. The hummus and tabbouleh were very fresh and tasty and served with fresh, warm, yummy pita bread. The Merguez platter was fantastic-- the meat was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The falafel sandwich was also really good and fresh--this is a big deal since I am very picky about my falafel! The service is good and the food comes out pretty quickly. Accidentally stumbled here a few months ago and it's been, by far, my favorite Middle Eastern pita place in Brooklyn, and even in NYC! Lahmahcun review only. For $8 it's a great snack for two to share after, say, an invigorating session at Brooklyn Boulders. Unfortunately, it's not quite like the lahmahcun I'm familiar with from Turkey, which has more herbs and bits of tomato on it along with the meat. This one was just spiced meat, so while it was tasty, it got a little monotonous after the second slice. It seems from the pictures that the 'pitzas' are more like what I'm familiar with, so you can bet I'll be back to try those. They're a bit more pricey though, but still reasonable looking. read more

What can I say, lately I've been on a lambajin tear (which is basically a ground lamb pizza blended with tons of spices and not the easiest thing to find) and this place did not disappoint. It's a hefty portion, easily sharable if you're getting other entrees. But the key here is their homemade pita breads served flaky n pippin hot and their homemade hot sauce....whatever you order, request some sauce!! I could easily become a regular, if I lived in the neighborhood. Nothing I had was out of this world amazing, but I didn't have any major complaints, either. Don't be fooled by the front section (which looks like a standard takeout place) because the dining room behind is a surprisingly nice atmosphere. The lentil and bulgar appetizer was a bit dry for my taste, but it was pretty good. For my entree, I had the lamb platter. It had been a while since I'd had lamb, and to be honest I was kind of hoping for drippy perfectly seasoned melt-in-your-mouth lamb. It wasn't that. It was just... fine. And for the price/portion ($12) I'll take it. The lamb became amazing though, when I created "lamb burritos" with the baba ganoush (you get a choice of that or hummus), the mixed salad, and globs of the lemon mint mayo. Now THERE is a satisfying meal. All in all, I spent about $15 pre-tip. Not too shabby. What would make this even better? Alcohol. Bedouin Tent Restaurant, like it sounds tries to mimic a bedouin tent inside the restaurant by having tapestries on the walls. It felt like a bedouin tent because it was probably 90+ degrees in there without the AC on, windows open, and of course the kitchen was baking fresh pita bread. The service was a little awkward with us having to ask for the check more than once, and ask for water more than once (we asked for water, the guy filled one cup walked away and helped other tables while the rest of our cups were empty). I ordered the chicken pitza and we split a hummus plate with pita. The pita is nothing like you get at the store, they were super thin, fresh baked, and when it came to our table it was poofed up to the size of a volleyball. The pitza was a nicely sized pita pizza without any cheese. Loaded with chopped chicken, green onions, and other spices. To me it was a little plain and probably could have used a bit of acid like lemon juice to really give it a punch. The prices here are reasonable and although it was amazing, I'd be interested in coming back here to try their other dishes. read more

This place is simply delicious and great value. There's a larger dining area and outdoor garden in the back, so don't be deceived by the tiny, unassuming storefront. It gets quite packed at nights, and for good reason! Although the service can be really rushed/spotty (and we once received a dirty fork), the food is worth it, especially the leg of lamb and falafel sandwiches. We've also tried the platters, but I think the sandwiches are much better. These aren't your ordinary sandwiches ... it's about 1.5x bigger, the pita bread is piping hot and fresh, and they're generous with the fillings. I just love it. We tried the salad combo but were underwhelmed with the hummus and babaganoush. I liked the beets and spinach/chickpeas though. came here for a lunch takeout. the place is reasonability priced. I got the chicken plate which was very filling. the chicken was cooked well and flavorful. the salad made me feel a little healthy and the hummus was normal. I loved that the pita was freshly made so it was nice and hot and tasted wonderful. Definitely some of the best pita I've had! I don't think i'll be getting the plate again since was a little too much food for a lunch. i don't really want to food coma at work and fall asleep ]: but for around 11$ what a good deal. It's also really close to my apt so even though I REALLY wanted the hummus from Beyoglu, we came here instead. I ordered the falafel plate with hummus. Bland, bland, and bland. Disappointment. At least the salad was fresh. The peanut sauce thing tasted funny, the hummus really had no flavor. I kept wanting to add lemon or something to give it SOME kind of flavor, and ended up sprinkling some salt and pepper on it. My sis got the chicken pitza, which was just okay. The mint tea was refreshing, and I liked that there was no wait and the A/C was blasting. The little cornbread honey cake at the end was good, but I probably will not be coming back. Great and unique middle eastern restaurant. We started with the "salad" combo, which was really more of a dip platter. There were many to choose from; any five come with the combo. We chose hummus, herbed feta, curried chickpeas, some kind of yoghurt, and a fifth item I can't recall. All were great, and best of all was the fantastic house-made pita bread that came with it. Yum! For my entree I ordered the chicken "pitza," which is apparently Bedouin (Bedouin-American?) for "pizza." It was under-seasoned, but with some salt it was fantastic. Again the Bedouin Tent displayed their refined bread-baking prowess by producing a delectable crust that was the star of the pitza dish. It was a lot (the shared salad combo and personal entree was too much) of great food for quite a reasonable price. Bedouin Tent is one of those places that you walk by on the sidewalk and so many amazing smells are coming out of it you go "WHAT IN THE EFF ARE THEY MAKING IN THERE AND HOW CAN I GET IT IN MY FACE ASAP?!" So I live a stone's throw from this little mideastern hub, the main reason I have been frequenting it lately. That and my continuous cravings for falafel and hummus. The place itself is small and dark, nothing special, but they do have a backyard which always counts for something in my book. The food is pretty decent- I am a fan of the falafel plate with hummus. I had the lamb once, wasn't too excited about that. The best part is probably their bread- the aroma hits you as soon as you enter the place. The trick is to eat it fairly fast, because as the minutes tick by it goes from soft fluffiness to hard crunchiness. Another pro is the quick time it takes to get your food, whether you are eating it there or taking it home. I LOVE the falafel here. They make their own pita, which is soft and delicious and the falafel is wrapped in the pita rather than stuffed into the pocket. I don't know why, but that just works so well! The proportion of the falafel balls to other items is perfect and the tahini sauce, tomatoes, and lettuce combo is yummy. The turkish coffee is also excellent. A perfect way to end the meal. I adore this place and stop in whenever in town. Really solid, delicious Middle Eastern restaurant. The prices were really affordable and the amount of food we got for what we paid made it a steal. The food was equally excellent. My friend and I both got the chicken plate, which includes chicken, salad, hummus, and fresh pita. Cannot rave about that fresh pita bread enough--it came to us soft, warm, and absolutely flavorful. Some of the best pita we've had. The ambiance is also so great, with Middle Eastern music playing in the background and beautiful quilts on the wall. I had my first falafel experience here! I'm a believer now. Everything is made fresh and it's all very delicious. When my little brother and I go, we always start with a Garlic Pita Bread [fresh garlic and parsley strewn about on top] - we always add a little salt to taste, even though you probably don't need to. And our main course is a Falafel sandwich. I haven't been brave enough to try anything else, but I always find myself gawking at what other people have ordered. The salads look delicious.
