This gem in Brooklyn shouldn't be hidden. We had a group of 8 where a third of the party were toddlers and we were treated with so much care. The service was impeccable, understanding and kind. Now to the food,...chefs kiss. The bread Bastien was warm and soft. The grilled calamari is definitely an appetizer must. But the biggest surprise was the fried liver bites. I couldn't get enough of it. The seasoning, the juiciness, the joy it brought me was unexpected and highly appreciated. Not a fan of the fried calamari but the rest of the adult at my table liked it...to each is own. I didn't get a chance to enjoy my main course because the kids started getting rowdy but the rest of my party ate their meals and couldn't stop raving about the food. Was a little disappointment the almond pudding wasn't one that menu anymore. I really wanted to try it, but the tiramisu was delicious and the whipped cream with pistachio was light and delightful. This used to be my favorite restaurant. I used to order delivery about once a week for five years when I lived in park slope. I moved away and just ordered again from my air bnb, and was so disappointed . I told my guests that they were in for the best meal. They forgot the parsley lemon salad for my favorite dish, the lahmacun. The bread, which used to be the best I'd ever had, was stale and horrible. We stopped into Tava around 3 in the afternoon for a late lunch. The restaurant was nearly empty at that hour and we received lots of great attention from the staff. The ambience is comfortable. The tables are a comfortable distance apart, something you don't often find in places in Brooklyn. We sat down and our server promptly offered us water and menus. It was one of the really cold day in early February and I ordered Lentil soup. It really hit the spot-both nice and warm and tasty. My wife and I shared the other dishes that included a superb mixed appetizer plate with really delicious baba ghanoush, humus, labneh and other middle eastern delights. The grilled calamari was a really nice surprise. We typically order fried calamari, our server suggested the grilled. The calamari was tender, sweet and truly delicious. Great Mediterranean spot for lunch! Big portions, my lamb gyro wrap was enough food for two lunches. They don't skimp on the gyro meat, too. Fries were crispy and seasoned. If you sit down, they give you free bread that's focaccia-like in texture and taste. The oil on the table tasted more like peanut oil than olive oil, though. I've ordered from here so many times on ubereats I've lossed count. I always get the lentil soup or the lemony chicken soup. I get the large shepherds salad with a side of feta cheese and they always give me these beautiful pieces of fresh bread with my order and sometimes they've thrown in rice pudding for free. The shepherds salad is simple, it's a mix of tomatoes, bell peppers, onions and cucumbers in a really light dressing but whenever I try to make it at home it never turns out right. I can never get a handle on perfecting the dressing so I've been obsessed with ordering it. I usually order the soup and salad after a night out on the town. I and some friends stopped by after a day at the museum for dinner. The restaurant was cozy and so nicely decorated with a wine wall., wooden finishes, and string lights. The staff were very kind and took good care of us. We started of with the mixed appetizer plate/mezze which included hummus, ezme, tabbouleh, babaganush and spinach tartare, all of which were tasted amazing. The main dish was even better. Friendly service. Literally everyone we interacted with was so down to earth and kind. We were running some errands near by on a Sunday and Literally walked by and stopped in. The decor is nice the space is much larger then it appears viewing from outdoors . They start you off with warm bread it is made in house and you can enjoy it by itself or with oil and balsamic vinegar . I ordered the lamb gyro plate and it was so tender and juicy. My aunt had the beef liver and Shepard salad with the cheese on the side as her main. Those were some of the best liver I've eaten . I have had many of liver because I do enjoy that dish any time I find a Turkish place. We had cocktail with our meals I believe I had a moscow mule it was done well. There is a street level dining area with full bar making cocktails with ease. I suggest you don't drive if you don't have to. Small restroom on first floor. We saw a lower level although we did not explore. Not sure what is meant for nor how large or small it is for diners. Definitely no way for wheelchair to get downstairs and not sure if there were restrooms down there. Service was a bit slow in getting to us after they took and brought out orders. I went to this Turkish spot in Park Slope a while back with a group. The place is pretty big and our group of 6 was sat pretty far back with the tables being a comfortable distance between each other. I decided to order a gazoz to drink without checking the price which was a mistake as it was $4.95 which is very overpriced. This is $2 more then even at some fancy Turkish spots but whatever. The staff was pretty friendly though it took a while for one of the dishes to come. I ordered the Sultan's Delight or hünkarbeğendi which was $24.95. This consists of a lamb stew (the hunkar part) which is both served on top of and inside of a mix of eggplant and cheese (said begendi) with some grilled peppers on top. It is one of my favorite Turkish dishes. The plate was a bit smaller then most of the other locations I have been to and there wasn't as much of the stew on top. Outside of the smaller portion size, the chunks of lamb on both the top and the inside were very tender and the eggplant was excellent. In short, very good flavor but a bit pricey (but then again it's Park Slope.) Another person had the Lahmacun which was 22.95 for 3 pieces (+$7.95 for an extra one I think.) Lahmacun is another of my preferred Turkish dishes consisting of a flatbread topped with minced lamb and spices. It is served with some vegetables (raw onion with sumac and some other stuff) and said veggies are put on the flatbread and essentially wrapped. I tried a little bit of this and as someone who loves this dish, I wasn't that big of a fan. The lamb lacked the cumin, red pepper, and other spices which I usually associate with this dish though I would say that the photos online are quite different from what she got. The portion size was much more reasonable for the price but the flavors were bland. Other people had the steak kabob (had a small bit quite tasty,) chicken kabob, and fish (didn't try either.) The food here was fine. A bit pricey but it is Park Slope. My gas from the rest of the reviews and the photos was that there was some mess up with the lahmacun or I didn't hear something from the other person ordering which might have reduced the spices. We wound up ordering a very carb heavy delicious dinner. We ordered these Turkish mini dumplings in yogurt sauce which was tart and interesting never had anything like it before. Came here for lunch on a Saturday. Much to my delight, the restaurant was completely empty. We decided to order a few appetizers: the mixed dips, grilled calamari and the falafels. All were worth a try, especially the grilled calamari. For the entree, I'm a lamb fan and the lamb gyro here did not disappoint. I enjoyed each piece that had part of the "skin" on it as it held all the right flavors and spices. My wife had the famous lahmacun which was presented nicely on a cutting board. This was basically a large lamb flatbread. Prices were competitive here with other Turkish restaurants in the neighborhood. My only gripe with this place was the servers not having their masks on. Great spot for some Turkish food. I stumbled upon it on seamless one evening when craving some Turkish food and have been super happy that I did. I've managed to get takeout from here numerous times since and the food had been great every single time. The chicken shish kebab and lamb kebabs are succulent and juicy and incredibly flavorful. The chicken Adana kebab, my personal favorite, is just incredible- so full of flavor and juicy and perfectly balanced with spices. The red sauce that comes with the kebabs is so good too- it's more flavor and less spicy and adds so much to each bite. The babaganush is tasty and smoky and a great accompaniment to the meal, especially with their homemade bread. The salad is good and has a tasty dressing. All in all, just a great meal every time. I was poking around Yelp for a late night healthyish dinner. I love a good mediterranean grill so I was excited to try Tava. We ordered the mixed grill to try a little of everything along with a kofta plate. We didn't get rice, but instead they gave us each a large salad. It also came with grilled vegetables - which was only a tomato slice and a whole jalapeño.. i would've preferred an onion or something a bit more edible. Wow, wow, and wow again to Tavash Turkish Meditteranean Restaurant. Your food and service are nothing short of amazing! My friend and I arrived to an empty restaurant, but a warm smile from the waitress that helped us navigate the menu and got us delicious and cool old fashions from the bar. My friend got their calamari and I got the baba ghanoush. The calamari came with this marinara type sauce that had a nice kick of spice and went so well with the calamari and the bread! The baba ghanoush did not disappoint either! It was super creamy and had tons of sesame seeds! I had to stop myself from eating all of it as we were brought a fresh platter of their sampler entree that came with beef, lamb, and chicken. Omg!! Everything was grilled and seasoned to perfection--including a pepper ok the side! The rice and salad complemented the meats so well! My friend and I dug in and I so wish I had another stomach as I did not want to stop eating! I am so glad we shared the platter because there is no way we could've had our own entrees!
