I had almost all of the vegetarian options on the menu. The Eggplant à la Yafa. is cold but on the whole; delicious & vegan! Loved it. Cauliflower Pita was good but perhaps a little bland esp. with the hummus. The Shaksuka was okay the eggs were cooked hard and the tomato sauce again leaned towards the bland side. But I love tomatoes in all its manifestations so still good. Definitely the merguez would have given it a lot more flavor but I wanted to stay vegetarian. Not a fan of falafel in general and this one ate a little hard. So no love there. So many dishes are clearly freshly made; the Stuffed grape leaves, hummus, tahini. The beet salad was also fresh maybe a little undercooked but good. I love beets. Seasoned well. Their hot sauce was bananas. Sparingly people. I think I lost some lining in my esophagus. For dessert (non vegan) Mom's cake; had coconut flakes not a fan. But tasty This is Brooklyn. I'm not dissing no one's mom. But the vibe in there is just the best! Kulushkat had amazing Middle Eastern food. I tried chicken shwarma, grilled chicken, falafel, fries, cucumber and red cabbage salads, zatar pita, zatar labne. Everything was completely delicious. Chicken was very moist and delicious, the grilled was paprika-forward, the shwarma more traditionally spiced with cumin and other seasonings. The zatar pita was really notable, I think there was butter or olive oil involved in such a way it was very sumptuous. I have never had that before. The fries were also fantastic, I couldn't stop eating them. My only criticism is that the falafel, although tasty and spiced right, should be crunchier and less soft. Hoping they can upgrade some of the furniture, while the wooden booths were fine, the patio-like slatted tables and chairs were very uncomfortable. But I'd sit at them again to eat that food! A young man named Yadin is presently the manager of Kulushkat restaurant. He's super cool and he runs a vibey little eatery. I purchased my second falafel sandwich from this place, this past weekend. Fresh hummus, crispy red cabbage, yummy tahini sauce and added pickles are what my sandwich was made of. I chose whole wheat pita bread for the first time ever and it was really good. I sat inside waiting for my order while rocking to smooth reggae music. Yadin is a manager who doesn't mind bussing tables and making sure that customer's needs are met, if the servers are busy zipping around. The falafel sandwiches are substantial in portion. I was able to eat it in halves, saving a half for later. The prices are very reasonable. I won't be staying away from Kulushkat for too long. Wonderful work day treat. read more

(This rating is based on what I tried and not a reflection of the entire menu!) The service was great and I love the little seating area. I was just getting a few things to taste. I tried the mint lemonade which was refreshing and tasted freshly squeezed. I also tried the falafels but didn't enjoy it that much. The star of the show to me were the fries it was Excellent and you should definitely try! There are many different modifications for gluten free eaters but no gluten free pita. I hope that they can have that option soon so I can try a little more on the menu. I hope I can update this review soon when I am able to taste more on the menu. read more

Don't get why this place has such high reviews. I was fooled by them. This is an unassuming hole in a wall establishment. No indoor dining. Mostly take out. Only a few tiny wooden folding tables and chairs available for outdoor dining. On a random Tuesday evening, this place had tons of customers. Only one bathroom, for which you have to wait at least 10 minutes. If you don't have a mask, you're out of luck--you won't be allowed into the bathroom. Service was nonexistent. We had to ask and wait for tap water five times. Only one waiter who looked like he was close to murdering everyone was on duty. Such intense, heavy countenance. Not a smile or a relaxed facial muscle could be caught all evening. So tense and unwelcoming. $20 Beef and Lamb Kebab Platter and $17 Chicken Shawarma Plate were standard fare. Ordering from Kulushat has become a weekly ritual. I place the order on my phone while waiting for my train after work, then swing by the restaurant 35 mins later on the walk back home. Comfort food on tough days. I'm a sucker for the classic falafel pita (can be ordered as a plate) but I find myself ordering the eggplant a la yafa pita more often. Comes in white or wheat pita. Other vegan options on their menu include the cauliflower pita, stuffed grape leaves, marinated beets salad, lentil soup, and rugggelakh (for dessert). I wanted to try something different from what I usually order out for delivery. This hit the spot. Stuffed grape leaves were nice and fresh. The beet salad was also fresh and tasted good as well. Loved the humus and tahini sauce, which added a nice flavor to the chicken swarma plate. Only criticism is there wasn't enough rice. Took my kid here to eat and chat! Can I tell you how we barely spoke and barely breathed, lol. The food was so good we chomped in total silence out side of, pass me this or let me try that. Service was amazing! No indoor seating... Outdoor seating is greeting and comfortable. We enjoyed our meal and experience Very Much! Sad to see these folks closed their shop by Barclays Center but happy that the PLG location is thriving. Met up with a friend for lunch on a Friday. We arrived at opening. He lives in the neighborhood but never noticed this place. Well now he will! Ordered the chicken shawarma pita and he got the lamb kebab pita. No need for anything else. Except for maybe a few beers to wash it down. My only gripe is that there is no in-person ordering. Even if you are eating on their sidewalk tables or hut on the street, you have to place your order through their website. Usually takes 20-30 minutes so I recommend planning ahead and ordering before you get there if you're feeling hangry. read more

I consider myself a falafel (and hummus!) connoisseur and until Mamoun's opens a Brooklyn spot (seriously Hoboken gets a Mamoun's location and we don't?!) this will be my go to. Good food but too expensive. If you get only a sandwich it's still a lot. Kulushkat has some pretty authentic stuff. A lot of great vegan choices. The falafel is the best thing. Around Lefferts Gardens there aren't too many places for Middle Eastern food. It has a lot of fast food chains, but there's a few locally owned restaurants. This is one of the best places in the area for vegetarians. Like many Middle Eastern places, there's choices like falafel, grape leaves, and hummus. The dining area is small and there's only a few tables. I came in the last time with my hot woman friend. We were greeted by the friendly owner. Both of us felt like having falafel. I got the falafel pita. She had the same thing because she knows I pick good shit. It's about $10 for only a pita. This comes with cabbage and a very good tahini. It was good but it wasn't much. To add fries with it would have been a few bucks more. It already was too expensive. They also have some more expensive platters. I like the food here. It's just too expensive for the portion. Some of the best falafel I have had in NYC! After a recent 5K running event in Prospect Park on a sweltering humid night I just wanted somewhere to eat dinner in some cool AC. Walking around we found Kulushkat which means "shut up and eat". Being that this small joint offered up some delicious Middle Eastern food we did just that! Tasty food and friendly service. Large portions. Prices that won't break the bank. Vegan options of course. It's a tiny spot with a few tables. Clean. The falafel here is delish! The falafel platter for $10.95 is so good! Your choice of one falafel flavor, Israeli salad, red cabbage salad, rice, hummus, tahini and warm fluffy pita. You can't go wrong with this choice. I was hungry and decided to have food delivered. For some reason, I had a craving for falafels. No I'm not pregnant, but I am greedy. I searched yelp and found Kulushkat, and I am happy I found this place. I ordered the falafel platter. Can you guess what's included in the falafel platter? If you guessed falafels, you would be correct! It also includes an Israeli salad, red cabbage salad, rice, hummus, tahini and a pita. The falafels were great. They were seasoned well, not over or under fried. I almost felt like a kid and wanted to eat the falafels last. The Israeli salad coupled with the cabbage salad was a marriage made in heaven. The acidity and crunch from the cabbage and bell peppers paired with the freshness of the tomatos and cucumbers made my tastebuds do the happy dance. The yellow rice was cooked perfectly. If I wanted to, I could roll the grains and see which grain would win the race. The hummus was seasoned well, with the perfect consistency. I added some homemade pepper sauce to give it a kick. Last but not least, the pita. It was fluffy, soft, and warm. I would have ordered extra if I knew the pita was this good and a bit on the small side. I stumbled across this place when I went to the UPS store. Its a tiny storefront so you can miss it easily. After checking out the posted menu, I ordered through Yelp/GrubHub because you have to order online. I ordered a Shepard's salad which is finely diced cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions and gigantic amount of feta cheese all tossed in a lemon vinaigrette. I was disappointed there were no greens in the salad. I had them add red cabbage to it. Thankfully because the shepard salad by itself is not a "meal". I also got a side of marinated beets. I don't have the biggest appetite and although tasty, this food wasn't the most filling. The pita bread was good. I paid $24 for my lunch. Its kinda pricey for what I got but it was pretty good. What a find. Cozied up on Washington Avenune and Flatbush/lincoln. Just a great dinner in a simple yet awesome setting. The staff had that perfect attentivness balance, you know, where you don't feel watched but also not left to figure out your own shit LOL. The place is super clean, the food was amazing... you could tell it is super fresh, especially the beets! The mint lemonade, called the "lemonana" is unreal, prolly one of the best I've ever had! We got the salad sampler and the falafel plate, definitely more than enough for two to share! We are definitely going back and I highly recommend this place whether you're looking for a healthy alternative or not. Ordered take out from this restaurant on a Sunday evening. In my opinion this place is becoming one of my favorite restaurants. The food is just simply delicious and authentic. Having lived in the Middle East, this restaurant brings back some memories. The menu has some great choices for both vegetarians and meat eaters. Got the Beef and Lamb kebab platter for takeout for lunch. Have been wanting to try this place for a while and I'm glad I did because it was wonderful. The entire platter was $19 which seemed high but you get so much food it is definitely worth it! The whole wheat pita was fresh and soft and the hummus was perfectly seasoned and you get more than enough. The beef and lamb kebab had great flavor and was made even better by the Israeli and cabbage salads which were both delicious and fresh. The rice was just fine but all together the platter was awesome, everything complimented each other so well! My sister got the Falafel pita and also said it was great but a little to much tahini for her liking. Overall I would go back, they're currently only open for outdoor dining, takeout and delivery. Only complaint would be that delivery did take a very long time, about twice as long as projected. However when I called the restaurant, staff was super helpful; they even checked their delivery person's location relative to my apartment and gave me an accurate time estimate. They also contacted me today to apologize again and say they'd experienced an unusual level of orders that night, and gave me a coupon for 15% off my next order. I came here on a very interesting night... the owner here is a very warm and dedicated guy. He truly cares about his customers and takes great pride in his food. On the particular night that I came in the restaurant was fairly empty but there were so many delivery orders. He sat us down told us there would be a bit of a wait as he was backed up. We didn't mind the wait say back in the very chic "New" Brooklyn atmosphere and chilled. A few moments later chaos ensued from the kitchen and he cook literally walked off the job in the middle of a complete dinner rush!
