They have a kitchen, walk-in fridge, and regular freezer so you have access to set-up in the back or early off of supplies. It was also a great help that they had some decors available, so I didn't have to worry about spending extra for this. Overall, I really liked the space and how convenient it was to have the ceremony and reception in one location. There is a room where you can get ready or hang out before the wedding, but the lighting is pretty dim. Venue is about a 45 minute drive from Austin, but the drive is scenic and nice. He also offered to get us somewhere similar at half the price but sent two Airbnbs that we didn't like and called it a day. Later that evening he said he was going to cancel our booking because the wedding already had "several VRBOs booked nearby, 12 caterers and 60 guests with a good chunk coming internationally."

He called and told us that someone else had booked the same place for the same weekend on vrbo for their wedding, but it had somehow been cancelled on them and they had just found out. He asked us if we would move our party to a new location if he found us another place. But, he said it was totally up to us because we were the ones with the booking. Later in the day, we told him that we just wanted to keep our booking with him. He messaged my fiancé that he totally understood. That evening, he messaged again saying that he felt that he needed to just cancel our booking completely and let the other people have the venue because "they're having a wedding and yours is just an engagement party." My fiancé messaged him back that if he was going to cancel it then just to cancel it so we can get our refund and try to find another location ourselves. The next day, Lucas contacted us again and completely switched up and tried to make it seem like the reason he was canceling our booking was because of the number of people we were planning to be hosting. Meanwhile he had already told us that the wedding that he is allowing to have the place is going to be having more people than what ours was supposed to have. He has also been giving us trouble by messaging and trying to call my fiancé to manipulate us into being the ones to cancel the booking now so he doesn't get the penalties. Luckily, we contacted airbnb support who helped us get it cancelled on his end. I would not recommend booking anything with him. He is very dishonest and untrustworthy. We also didn't appreciate the way he was making it seem like it was our fault for not wanting to move our party. He was guilt tripping my fiancé over the phone. This situation showed that he does not know how to make business decisions based on what is booked and on record.

I knew that I would have trouble reading my vows in front of everyone so James was more than happy to read them for us. When going through multiple websites, I noticed that the officiants are always standing next to the couple for their first kiss. James let us know ahead of time that halfway through the ceremony he moves to the side so that it will only be the couple in the first kiss pictures. I would never have thought about this and was so happy when he mentioned it. I'm definitely glad we chose James as the officiant of our wedding, and we would highly recommend.

Every detail of this place is absolutely gorgeous. My husband and I were married here in April 2024 and we seriously talk about this venue and all of its magic at least once a week since then. We wanted to have a small intimate gathering that had a very organic look. In the spring, this place really comes to life, the birds, the butterflies, the way the light shines through the windows in La Casa De Joy, everything felt like a fairytale. The venue is tucked away in a sweet lakeside neighborhood as well so the drive there in the spring is country roads lined with wildflowers and bluebonnets which was an added plus. We rented the entire venue and had some guests stay in the other houses on the property while we stayed in La Casa De Joy and everyone absolutely loved it. We heard nothing but positive things from every guest. Such a unique venue. Not to mention, Travis, the property manager was an absolute delight to work with. Really so so kind and understanding of our wants and needs and was truly there to answer any questions we had. We will definitely be coming back to relive our wedding day each year with a stay at La Casa De Joy. Truly such a gem of an experience. My highest recommendations to anyone looking to relax, reconnect, breathe and just be present. Go to this place!!
