Upon arriving, I started to notice that the upkeep of the property was very poor. This is just a small list of issues we encountered: AC units were not working, the kitchen refrigerator was not cooling which cost us over $100 in spoiled items, the kitchen sink had no water coming out, our staff had no hot water in the mornings for showers and one of our teammates got stung by a scorpion while using the towel from her bedroom restroom. With all of these problems arising, I decided it was time to call the owner/property manager Madelyn. As I spoke to her mentioning what we were experiencing, her only reaction was that no AC unit works in Texas when it's 100 degrees, which I know is not valid. She then proceeded to ask me what time we wanted to leave the next morning. This completely caught me off guard as I thought that being the owner you would try and resolve issues your paying guests are encountering. This was far from the response I was looking for! After planning this offsite and having several team members as well as speakers staying at the location, we could not just leave to find another space. We all had to deal with the situations at hand and try and get through the next 3 days the best as we could. Following check out, I decided to email Madelyn regarding all of the problems and inconveniences we all had to handle. Still no professionalism fro her regarding her venue to paying customers who keep her in business. I would think being a family owned business, you would treat your customers with respect and reply on the word of mouth business. We as a company, nor I personally will ever use Ruby Ranch again or refer it to anyone who is searching for a venue. Hopefully this helps someone else from going through the same experience!

Next, he told us that we could make whatever decision we wanted because it was our booking confirmed through Airbnb. He also offered to get us somewhere similar at half the price but sent two Airbnbs that we didn't like and called it a day. Later that evening he said he was going to cancel our booking because the wedding already had "several VRBOs booked nearby, 12 caterers and 60 guests with a good chunk coming internationally."

Upon arrival, our supervisors provided us with a day pass to the spa which included, access to the grounds, trail access, pickleball access, library access, breakfast, coffee/tea, an hour long massage and a boxed lunch. We started at the pickleball courts and we were the only ones out there. The staff provided us with pickleball equipment so don't worry if you don't have any! After a few rounds, we then went to the spa to get our massage. In the massage building there were four separate rooms and a bathroom. Everything was clean and smelled amazing. A male masseuse then guided me to our room and ensured I was comfortable and asked if I had any areas I wanted to focus on. The massage was INCREDIBLE! My peers had nothing but great things to say about their experience as well. One masseuse was even experienced in pre-natal massages. The boxed lunch meal was such a delicious treat. It came with a sandwich, cookie, drink, chips and a salad. After lunch, a few of us walked some trails and sat around the fire pit. I would recommend sage hill a hundred times! Unfortunately the tenants I signed with paid very late and eventually didn't pay at all. I reached out to Esmeralda not knowing if she would help us because she didn't place the tenants. Not only did she help us, she immediately stepped in to manage all communication with the tenants going forward and even handled all the details of the eviction process. It's just so difficult to put into words what a relief it is to have her on our side. She is very professional and matter-of-fact and simply doesn't get sucked into what can so often become an emotional situation (I know I was certainly emotional!) The word "blessing" is not one I use lightly but that's the perfect descriptor for Esmeralda and her business. I'm so grateful to have found her and will recommend her to everyone I know!
