Bee Natural was my favorite spot at the Reading Terminal Market. This is somewhat ironic as their primary offerings are not edible, as much of the market is. This booth has every possible lip balm flavor that you could imagine, ranging from as benign as vanilla to as unhinged as pizza. I went with the banana lip balm and it has been such a delight to use over the last few days that I have had it. I also picked up a jarred candle to enjoy at home. I was bummed to not be able to take them up on their three for $25 offer, but I didn't have enough suitcase room. I've loved their chapsticks since my first visit to reading terminal - they are long lasting and have such fun flavors. I ordered some more online since I don't live in the area. Unfortunately, the package came without two of the chapsticks I ordered. I reached out and they said they would send the missing two. This was back in beginning of December and I haven't received anything nor heard a peep from them since that initial response even after a couple follow ups. Very disappointing. read more

I hate to leave a bad review for a small business, but the owner leaves me no choice. My brother wanted me to pick up some honey, and I also love beeswax candles, so I decided to give a local shop a try. The tealight candles I purchased were terrible. Like, I didn't know candles could be so terrible. It did not hold a flame and did not burn evenly. I tried trimming the wick, but it was a complete waste. Emailed "customer service." I presume the owner is the person I was speaking to; there was no indication of who I was speaking to, including their name, etc. They simply stated that it was a bad batch of wax, wanted to make it right, and that a new delivery would be on 7/10. Okay, so I should just go back after July 10? Seemed like there should be a bit more clarity and direction... Response again from this person just repeated the date that there would be a new batch in Philly. All right, that's all I'm getting from this person, so I let it go. A few weeks later, I found myself near Reading Terminal Market and brought the defective candles in for a replacement. There was no delivery, the cashier had no idea about anything, and told me to call the owner. Called, and was met with a, "Well, I never heard from you." Ma'am, your email response was brief and brusque, even after I prompted you further, suggesting that a shipment would be there regardless of my involvement. Ok. She said to text my address, and she would mail. Texted my address. No confirmation back. Ok. Over a week later, I get home and realize, DE to Philly shouldn't take that long. At this point, this was feeling pretty drawn out, but you know when it's not about the money, but the principle of the matter, and you just have to see it through? That's where I was at. So I checked in about the supposed mailed package. She said she had mailed it last week. Ok, is there an expected delivery date...? She said she would check the tracking that night or the next morning, first thing. Ok, great, thought we were getting somewhere in the communication/customer service department... Two days later, nothing. Reached out again and simply requested a refund. The owner stopped communicating. I was patient and tried to give the benefit of the doubt, but the owner/whoever they were, was unbelievably terrible with communication and customer service. Will continue to buy my candles from Bluecorn- I now really appreciate their high quality and excellent customer service. read more

Located inside the Reading Terminal Market, I visited their booth a few years ago and discovered their amazing lip balms!! Their lip balms are so creamy, very moisturizing, and came in a variety of flavors. It has become my favorite. Yay for their online store, I don't need to wait till my next Philly trip to replenish my stash. read more

Bee Natural is a hidden gem in Reading Terminal, offering locally made candles, soap, lip balms, lotions, and honey. All items are made with locally sourced beeswax. There are many scents to pick from. My favorite is their Lavender Vanilla candle. If you are a lip balm aficionado, there are 20 different flavors to choose from, ranging from pizza (seriously!) to honey. I personally have not tried any of them but know friends who love them and at $2.50 they are a steal. If you ever find yourself in Reading terminal and are looking to try some locally made items please give them a try. The only reason I'm knocking off a star is due to their archaic online store. Whenever I cook my honey mustard chicken and get honey from Bee Natural it tastes so much better than store bought honey. The owner is a really nice guy (and not just because he's from Delaware) and the quality of his product is evident. Bee Natural has several flavors of honey and raw honey available in jars and those cute little bear shaped containers as well as honeycombs. Candles for $5! love it. love them. Also BEE POLLEN is deliciously addictive. I know right - super novel - but it's actually been a delicacy to humans since like The Egyptians were born. The granules taste like bitter-honey-sugar yumsies. Also can be mixed in water and applied to skin to clear up acne and cuts. I just put mine in my lemon-cayenne-apple cider vinegar-seltzer detox concoction and it is now my new Kombocha. It's the coolest thing to see the differences in the separate types of honey, like in this pic of wildflower vs blueberry honey below. But don't limit yourself to buying honey from Darren and his staff. They carry candles. They have creams for skin. Beeswax is also on the neatly arranged shelves. And knowledge. You can learn a lot from bees and beekeepers about the current state of the surrounding environment. No Bees, No Food, and No Honey!! And yes, I do buy this much honey at once. I LOVE this place and buy candles here exclusively. For $20, you can mix and match 4 candles of scents varying from classics like Lavender to more interesting options like Merlot. Good luck choosing just 4! And since they are made of beeswax (+ other natural ingredients), you can burn them for hours without fear of inhaling toxic chemicals. One quick tip re. candles here - some scents don't burn as strong as others, so a good sniff test will indicate how strong they will burn. The more you need to inhale to smell anything, the weaker the scent will be. I just saw the reviews about the honey and will definitely have to come back to see if it is as wonderful as their candles. read more

Wonderful little section of Reading Terminal. They stock primarily real honey (which for the record is hard to find, the majority of honey you purchase in stores is genetically modified) and beeswax candles. There is a small section of cleaning products (honey has some serious antibacterial properties) and skin care and a few other odds and ends. I managed to pick up a dill pickle flavored beeswax chapstick for my younger sister (more of a joke, but she does love her some dills) and a chai tea flavored for the middle sis. I wrestled the chai flavored stick away from Jennifer for a second and actually really liked it. I feel like the products are very high quality with really dense flavors and scents. The young lady working there was nice, offered to help us any way she could, and answer whatever questions we had. Sadly they were out of propolis which was my main reason for stopping by. While taking my dad around all the usual Philly spots while he visited me we ended up strolling the halls of Reading Terminal. I hadnt seen Bee Natural before (as some times that happens due to all the rows there) The woman working was very pleasant and helpful. She knew all the answers about bees and their products and they have a cool live Bee and Honeycomb display behind glass. My dad got tea light candles and I got the fall trio pack of 22 hour candles. "Pumpkin Spice" smelled super nice, I didnt have to mull over my decision to by the "Mulberry" and "Apple Pie" caught my eye. They didnt smell like those fake perfumey smelling candles from the drug store. But a very natural scent instead. Cant wait to light them up. :) p.s. they also have lip balms, shampoos and much more. read more

Went to Philly for the day on Saturday and had a lot of fun walking around in Reading Terminal. I was attracted by Bee Natural who had a lot of different types of honey and candles I bought 4 candles, which was $20. If you buy individually, it is $6. They are beeswax candles. I got Watermelon, Pineapple, Cantaloupe and Honey Dew! They also have honey sticks that are 5 for $1 or .25 each. I will definitely be back!!! read more

I haven't tried either yet, but I really enjoyed browsing their product line and speaking to the employees about the differences between the various types of honey they sell. I drove 3 hours to visit the Christmas Village last week and we stopped in Reading Terminal Market. I was just looking for some plain beeswax (which I found, but haven't tried yet), but I also bought a blueberry beeswax lip balm and a beeswax blend candle (Sleigh Bells scented). The candle smells amazing! I burned it for a little while last night for the first time, and it burns nicely and cleanly. I really, really like the lip balm! I wish I had tried it before we left Philly, because I would've ran back there and bought more! I have really bad dry mouth and lips in the fall and winter, and this is so smooth and actually coats my lips! Not to mention my my lips smell like blueberry pie! :) They had a great selection of flavors and scents for both the lip balm and the candles. When I go back to Philly I will definitely be stopping here again. I want to try their honey, too. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because I thought the price of the raw beeswax blocks was a little steep. Everything else I saw was quite reasonably priced, though. read more
