Of the 4 in my party, none of took more than a bite of our meals. The ranch for the salads simply does not taste like any ranch we've ever had, just wasn't appealing. The pulled pork came out greasy with a ton of fat in it. The sauces they provided were more like a horseradish and a pan sauce from the grease of the meat. When we asked our waitress for a different "normal" bbq sauce, the kitchen sent more of the grease sauce to the table. My daughter received chicken nuggets that were inedible, and after I even tried them, I told her she didn't have to eat them. Again, the waitress was kind and did what she could to help us out when it came time for the check as we ended up with our meal being left on the table. After hearing blazing reviews of this place, we decided to give it a try but unfortunately won't be going back. Sometimes, trying to be too different or unique doesn't always lead to the best results.

Forget fast food--if you want barbecue that's tender, flavorful, and melts in your mouth, make the stop. The owners came out and chatted with us, and you can tell it's a family-run place that takes pride in what they do. Very clean. Beautiful views. The food was amazing, the prices were reasonable, and the hospitality was just as good as the barbecue. We'll definitely be making this a regular stop whenever we're headed through the area. Finding good properly slow smoked brisket, ribs and pulled pork is getting harder and harder to find, or at a decent price. Well, you can stop looking if you're near the area and stop into Bluegrass! First, the brisket is fantastic. Not overly fatty, well smoked, grainy and very tasty. I had it with a dollop of the Bourbon Sauce and Traditional BBQ sauce. Absolutely near perfect. Next up are the Ribs. These dry rubbed smoked baby back cut style are meat falling off the bone delicious. Again, I drizzled just a small bit of Bourbon & Traditional Sauce on them which enhanced a nice sweetness. Next up we tried the Pulled Pork with a bit of vinegar and molasses which was succulent with a great taste through and through. For sides we had the beans, Mac n cheese, sweet potato casserole & hush puppies with butter. As I said, by far the best we have had in over a 100 mile radius. This is authentic slow smoked meats, dry rubbed, not drenched in sugary sauce. You control any flavor of sauce you want at the table with several great selections. The Bourbon and Traditional were my favorites. Because of the rarity finding honest and authentic smoked bbq like this, I wish I could give more than 5 stars, as it's the closest to Texas Slow Cooked you will find in the Southern Virginia / West Virginia area. Lucky for us it's not far, as we will be coming back to enjoy this wonderful family geared place, with amazing service tucked away in sleepy ol' Pembroke VA. The sandwich and sides at best, maybe $8, nothing what they charged. Also, no public bathrooms, which seemed very odd. Save your $. Go to the $ store up the road and get some jerky or Vienna sausages.
