They're known for roast beef, but they also have turkey, chicken and even fish. The service here is reminiscent of old-time diners - quick, friendly and personal. I don't eat red meat, and I love this place. They'll customize most items on the huge menu, for you. Most recently, I got the "Black Russian" sandwich that's half turkey and half beef with melted cheese on pumpernickel. I got it with all-turkey. DEElish! Plenty of off-street parking. read more

Visited tonight for the first time since moving states over 10 years ago. The service was great, fast, efficient and friendly. The food was delicious snd the onion rings just as smazing as I remembered them. The wine pour was amazingly generous, no room left at the top of the glass - for $5 bucks. Fancy cuisine it's not but a tasty roast beef sandwich with fried something this is the joint. The roast beef is tender on a good roll and that's the basis for a good sandwich. I coupled with the onion rings and they were the perfect compliment. Some of the best rings I've had. The restaurant is just a hole in the wall and don't be fooled by the cartoon character sign out front. If you like roast beef especially on a sandwich this place won't do you wrong. read more

Drove through Concord and Yelped this place for lunch. I got the beef brisket on gluten free roll. Having just visited Colorado and eaten beef brisket at every chance I got, maybe I got spoiled but the brisket at this place was super bland and lacked tenderness. It had a smoky flavor but then just tasted like a thick slice of deli meet. The BBQ sauce was on the vinegary side and soaked up the bun. I didn't like the food at all. I wouldn't come back here and if anyone does go here, I would recommend trying something other than the beef brisket or the gluten free roll. read more

This is my second visit and I've lost faith in Yelp food reviews. I'm beginning to think everyone has lost their tastebuds. I had the BBQ Brisket Bomb and although there was plenty of food there was nothing BBQ about it, no real taste to speak of. My partner had Fish and Chips, two tiny pieces of fish and fries on a appetizer plate. Fish appeared to be prepared and frozen ahead of time. This small restaurant has amazing food. Don't let the size of the place fool you- it's one of those hidden gems in Concord. I've been eating here for over 15 years. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. I've fed myself and 3 children for about $25-30. The portions are always good sized. Their roast beef sandwiches come in 3 sizes and are always fresh, never dry and they don't have that weird slimy texture that a lot of roast beef has (I'm weird about my roast beef lol) I Love to get a plain roast beef Sandwich with a side of Au Jus Their lobster bisque is super thick and creamy and comes with a pile of fresh lobster on top. I love their house fries- zig zag sliced potatoes deep fried. They also have this BBQ sauce called Bubba Sauce and they make it in-house- I love to dump it on my house fries and roast beef. Prime rib is always amazing and for a great price too. In 15 years I've never had a bad meal. The waitstaff are always friendly and remember us. They will go above and beyond for their customers. The owner is a friendly, kind, professional man who never fails to say a quick "hello" when I pick up takeout. The place is always clean and the service is impeccable. We went here two or three years back and we loved it. I have been back twice since and found it the most mundane, run of the mill restaurant. Consistency is key in any business and going to a restaurant should not be so variable. So while you might chance to patron this restaurant on a high rating from Yelp, I am here to tell you that it disappointed me more than impressed me. As someone who has spent a few years in the barbecue belt (and has probably gained a little bit of a "barbecue belt" because of it), I've been subjected to sentiments that other parts of the country can't do it as well. That never sat right with me - the fundamentals should be fairly universal, and while it may not be as prevalent in places like, oh, New Hampshire, for example, there's still examples of good barbecue to be found. I wasn't expecting a sit-down family type of restaurant, but I'm not one to judge based on appearances, so I was seated and quickly ordered the barbecue sampler. I was satisfied with the tenderness, smokiness, and flavor of each of the meats, though none particularly stood out. I wish they wouldn't have slathered it all in that heavy tomato-based barbecue sauce, as it would have allowed the great wood flavors to shine a little bit more, but I still ate more of it than I probably should have for lunch. The cornbread was nice, the fries were from a freezer bag, and that was the end of my meal. Can you have good barbecue this far north? Absolutely. Regardless of what the fuddy-duddies down south may think, barbecuing is nothing more than applying low and slow heat to meat. It's a skill that can learned anywhere. read more

My partner and I live in Austin, Texas, although she is from NH originally, so we flew up to visit family. One evening while driving back to where we were staying from one town to another, we decided to find a steak and cheese place. We had made it our mission to have all of her favorite NorthEast foods. Beefside was highly rated and practically on our way back, so we gave it a try! So the food was awesome. We both had a steak and cheese with peppers with onion rings on the side. Onion rings were perfect. Sandwich was huge and juicy, and honestly we could have shared a plate easily! I was pleasantly surprised by the amount we were given, especially when I got the bill! Wow! Probably the cheapest meal we had on our trip, but the quality was awesome, and the surroundings are hard to beat if you are a dog lover like we are. Very local feeling and friendly. The staff seemed to be very cordial and familiar with the customers, and the customers were all very happy. So. The restaurant is decorated with all dog and golden retriever things, which felt like destiny to us, as we have two golden retrievers around whom our worlds practically revolve. A small but delicious restaurant, that does a great job with BBQ and fried seafood. This may be the best tasting restaurant in Concord, which has limited dining options. The staff is seasoned and was sharp, and sassy as the placard promised. Thanks Yelp for helping me find this NH gem, that has been around for 30 years. I never go in that direction, as we normally take that exit and go towards downtown. I am visiting my family in winter, which almost never happens, and the normal seafood summer shacks I hit up are closed during this time of year, with the help of the internet, I was set on getting a seafood fix. I had the haddock and fried clam strips combo, which was really good. Some of the clams were stuck clumped together, which makes the centers a lil doughy, maybe because it was so busy. My boyfriend ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs, which are some of the best ribs I have eaten in NH, the other place was Buford's which was in Hillsboro NH, and is now closed. The ribs were nice and smokey and falling off the bone. I nicked a taste of my autie's pulled pork, also really delicious. They BBQ options come with cornbread, and the beer batter fries which are both far superior to the roll, and regular fries that came with my seafood. I am not sure why they bother with selling the normal fries at all, the beer batter ones are a home run. My cousin had a Ceaser salad with chicken and seemed pleased, she is a really fussy eater. Her husband had a burger, and again, was very happy. We also had the onion rings which were tasty, but the batter was a little heavier than I imagined, in it's golden pictures. It was busy on a Friday night, they do not take reservations. It took about 45 minutes to get our party of 6 a table. You can send a person to get your name on a wait, but your full party must be there to be seated. Though I understand these restaurant policies, as I have worked in the industry for 10 years, but it is still difficult for some parties. Say if I brought my mom who has MS, and there is an extremely full waiting area, with only a few seats. For able bodied peeps this is fine, and it keeps the restaurant from having dead tables, so it is more profitable. I totally understand, but I still think it is nice to be able to make reservations. In summer it may be more alleviated with the outside dining area, and the weather begin pleasant enough to stand outside comfortably. The only other thing is the beer list I don't think has changed much in the last 20 years. It would have been nice to have a couple other microbreweries, at least in bottles to choose from, the only option was Sam Adams. They have quite a few domestics, and I think Heineken, and Stella. They do have draft beer, and offered two Sam Adams options. Beefside you are excellent overall, It would be my top choice in Concord, and you kicked Newicks, and the Weathervanes butts, those used to be good, but have gone way down in quality the last 10 years. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to find a good barbecue place in the Concord area, especially since I lived here last year and had no idea about it. The establishment is a little small looking, and you're not sure really what to expect when you walk in. When you do walk in, there's a counter on your left for takeout orders and a doorway on your right entering into the dining room. The dining room is really cute a number of booths and tables, but I'm not sure if it would be the best place for a group of more than 8 people. The decor is almost cabin-like with strings of white twinkle lights around the windows. The wait staff are really fast and very nice. They have a very efficient system. It was busy when we arrived (we came around 1:30pm) but they were easily able to seat our party of 3 within a few minutes of getting in line to be seated. My friends go the special, a beef tenderloin steak bomb sandwich, while I went with the pulled pork. Their portions are gigantic and the beer-battered fries are definitely addicting. My pulled pork sandwich was really good and they put the barbecue sauce on the side so that you can coat your pork in as little or as much of the tasty sauce as you want. Ordered a club sandwich...What came to my table was a sub roll with a small amount of roast beef (less than a Junior sandwich) and a couple of strips of bacon... I asked what is this, she said a Beefside club...REALLY? What about the name CLUB sandwich don't they understand. The sandwich was much worse than their regular Roast beef sandwiches which are excellent, the mashed potatoes were bland and tasteless, the cup of chili for 6$ was also not very good.
