We were driving from Yellowstone to Bozeman and wanted to make a pit stop in Big Sky. Beehive Basin Brewery was a great destination and pretty busy the Saturday afternoon we went. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. It's very dog friendly! So many pups around. There was a guy preparing burgers off the back seating area. The staff at the bar were super attentive and immediately took our order. I really liked the Czech Yo' Self Pils. Light and refreshing after a day enjoying Yellowstone. Their bathrooms are super clean too. We found parking easily right out front. Definitely a fun spot! read more

Nice place; well setup tap room and their beer in general is above average to quite good (depending on your tastes and what you're getting). I always stop here to grab some crowlers while in the Big Sky, MT area and have never been disappointed doing so. Stopped in for a quick drink our first night in town around 7:30. It was quick since breweries here can't serve after 8 pm, but the bartenders was super kind and informative, the beer was great, and the vibe was awesome. Great local brewery in big sky! There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. All the tables are spaced out so you have room. What I didn't know about Montana is apparently they have a three drink limit at bars? We were given 3 coupons and that's all you get for the night. I didn't know that. But anyways- I tried the sour they had on tap that day. It has all the classic sour attributes. Then I got the tawny port that they had on tap- it was a lot heavier than a lot of other tawny ports I've had, but still good. The chocolate notes were very prevalent. Recently stopped by during the off season since they were one of the few places open. Of course the service was quick and attentive since my party was the only one there on a Friday afternoon. You know how, a lot of times, breweries and bars in tiny towns are average at best because, well, they don't really have to be great? Yeah, that's not Beehive Basin. First, the view and open-air vibe are fantastic. We tried 4 beers total and each was excellent. I especially enjoyed the Me No Cadillac milkshake IPA, but we also created a concoction of the coffee porter mixed with cream ale and enjoyed that. There's no food here, but you can bring your own. Due to COVID, they implemented something we thought was genius - they're using an app for out-of-towners, to limit contact with strangers. So you setup the app (2 minutes), then verbally let the beertender know your name and order. He adds your beers to the virtual tab and then you pay it in-app. You still get the interaction, but more safely - no need for exchanging cash/cards. We wish other places would use this! read more

Good place to go after spending the day on the mountain. The place gets super busy and hard to find a place to sit but everyone is friendly and might be able to share a table with other people. We made a quick overnight stop in Big Sky on our way from Glacier National Park to Salt Lake City. If there's a brewery in a town, my husband will find it. This place is cool. I don't drink beer and so was a bit disappointed that they only offered beer, but one of the bartenders offered to help me find something I enjoy. She gave me a few samples, and I actually found a beer I enjoyed enough to drink. The brewery had all the doors open, and on such a nice evening, the breeze was perfect. They also allow dogs. My IPA-loving husband got two beers and loved them. If you enjoy beer, this is a great place to visit. read more

Great for a quick stop after visiting Big Sky. We were in search of a refreshing beer and lunch after hiking Beehive Basin. This brewery doesn't have food but they welcome you to bring food in. We stopped at Roxy's Market across the street and grabbed a few sandwiches. The picture with the review is of Shade Tree HEFE. It was perfect. So I often go along to breweries to humor my wife and family since I'm allergic to wheat and by extension most beer. I asked my usual question about whether they had cider or wine or something I could drink, fully expecting to be let down as usual. The bartender Will changed the course of my afternoon. He perceives why I was asking and let me know that although they don't advertise the fact, their beer i is all 'gluten reduced' similar to other brand leaders, and let me have a taster to test out. Game changed! I had an incredible hazy IPA and cold brew coffee stout and they were both wonderful. More than that I got to share my first beer in a decade with my wife and in-laws, and reminisce about the good times before I started getting sick. Smaller brewery with an okay selection of beers - not exactly good enough to write home about but a could be worth it to drop by. The "manager" told our gluten free friend that they had no gluten free options, but told her to go to Roxys (market across the parking lot) and she could "bring anything over to the patio".... so she bought 1 (one) cider, and he came over to reprimand her, singling her out loudly and getting very close (not at all respecting social distance) saying "absolutely I did not say that you can't have outside alcohol, I mange this place I would never" and was extremely rude and snappy to the rest of the group, all of which purchased on site. Toxic masculinity and an unwillingness to admit fault in the miscommunication. Really disappointing in general to experience, but I hope they can improve in the future as it's nice to have a dog friendly option. read more

We visit Big Sky once a year and Bee Hive has always been a must on our to do list, unfortunately this years visit will be our last. Our family went in and ordered our drinks, paid for them and left a 25% tip. I went back up to the bar and purchased some shirts and paid for them and chose the "no tip" option (i don't leave a tip while shopping for clothing anywhere else, i didn't even know that was a thing). As we were leaving the employee very loudly called me and my family out for not tipping and were told "don't bother coming back". We left so upset and embarrassed, it was totally unnecessary. We have recommended Bee Hive to so many friends and family but will absolutely not be returning customers. We will take our tips else. read more

This such a great local hangout. The area is up and coming. Everyone was just relaxing and enjoying life in Montana. We had 15 in our group and spent the afternoon hanging out. The beer was good and it was neat to see the beer processing in the background. The group really enjoyed the huckleberry hard seltzer. This bar had all of the potential to be great being the only bar available in town. But unfortunately one male bartender made our experience very uncomfortable. He had poor customer service skills and didn't tolerate any unspoken rules being broken. The beers were actually good, but it didn't feel like non-locals were welcome. Nice brewery, even with all the Montana restrictions. I came here every night I was in Big Sky.

Pretty standard brew house. Soft smell of fermentation floating in the air, doggos nippin each other, etc. Stouts were good! IPA was a little sappy. Fair prices and great location right by Big Sky for some tasty beers on your way out. The service though...seems they don't take too kindly to outsiders here. Our bartender seemed to zero in on us the moment we walked in and just pulsed with attitude and lack of patience. Maybe it's a locals only spot. Or maybe we just got a dude on a bad day... It was enough for us to split early and find someplace more welcoming. Major bummer after looking forward to it to crown a nice powder day. read more

Great atmosphere with tasty beer! If all brewery reviews started and ended this way the world would be a better place. I went in twice since I came to Big Sky and I can say with certainty, that this is the best beer in town. They have a great selection that will not limit you to the ever so boring and palette shattering IPAs of the standard bro-ski resort towns. I mean, they have one or two, but they're actually good which is welcome. that said, I mostly stuck with the coffee and baltic porters which were just stellar examples of those styles. The bar and the patio are both dog friendly, but they also have off leash children, so we kept our dog leashed. Be aware, they do have a 3 drink limit. They're not trying to be jerks, it's just the way tasting rooms are required to operate in MT. I saw some negative reviews on yelp for the staff, but I'm going to disagree with that. They were helpful in going over the 3 beer limit and why it exists and great in helping with beer selections, even for this obvious out of towner. read more
