I came in here today because I was too lazy to drive to Sweet Belndz for an açaí bowl and I'm so glad I did! Note: Parking is a mess and the place itself is small, but if you avoid going during peak hours you should be fine. I ordered a small soup, an açaí bowl and ended up taking two spinach empanadas to go. The squash soup was okay but the empanadas were great, a bit thick with the crust but the spinach filling was delicious. One of the guys working there told me they don't have açaí bowls atm but that they were serving another frozen dessert instead that's similar to the açaí but made with frozen bananas. How was it? One word: A-D-O-R-E-I! Just keep in mind there is a noticeable banana taste to it and the açaí was surprisingly not that sweet, which I love, but other people may have different sweetness preferences. I always find that they have the best selection of vegan dishes freshly prepared every day. I am not vegan but I do enjoy the creativity put into making meatless dishes that taste fantastic and are beneficial to your health. Their juice bar is on point, no frills, just a juicer and the freshest fruits and veggies in whatever combo you prefer. They also have a menu with suggestions and they are very helpful in giving you suggestions depending on your health needs. I like that they carry a nice selection of herbs, powders, and other natural health related items. You can find anything from deodorant to tea, to salt lamps. This is one of my favorite eateries in Miami. Whenever I'm back home, I try to squeeze in as many visits as possible. I even went so far as to schedule a dentist appointment with a new dentist once just because it was around the corner from Beehive and it would give me an excuse to swing by. The empanadas are incredible. The salads are fresh and colorful. Carlos is a sweetheart and a fantastic storyteller. He once shared with me that an ex partner introduced him to vegan food and that he never really saw any use in turning back after that. Beehive's new location still deserves five stars for delivering solid vegan and veggie eats in an area where they're not readily available. I remember being intimidated the first time I visited the small location but this spot is definitely more welcoming. The shop is now a lot bigger so there are a few tables away from the counter if you want to sit down and enjoy. The health market is also easier to peruse although I've never picked up anything myself. My go-to order is a Rainforest smoothie and a picadillo empanada with miso dipping sauce. It's deceivingly really filling so I rarely have room for a sweet treat, but when I do, it's always delicious. They have rotating daily specials and the owner Carlos will probably give you a sample of the soup of the day which is always tempting. Usually you'll find some sort of rice, beans, protein and veggies, making for the perfect plate at a decent price! Beehive is awesome. I have been coming here for 3 years. Carlos is the owner and also cooks the food at home and brings it to Beehive - the food is great and fresh. If Carlos is not there to personally serve you the servers are excellent and super friendly. I've personally NEVER have had bad service. We are always treated with such kindness and generosity, its soul uplifting! Although, sometimes they do get pretty busy and you might have to wait a while to get served. I do wish they were a bit cheaper, but they aren't really that pricey. I always leave this place full and feeling happy. read more

Newly Vegetarian and always on the lookout for delicious options we were told this is the place to go. Now, no one warned us about the tiny cluttered store and the old Diner in the back so as many we were surprised at how homey this place was. Having spent many years living in South America though has taught me that cosmetics often are secondary to good. We had an amazing Plantain and TVP "picadillo" casserole (I forgot the name), brown rice and the tastiest veggies on top of it. Perfect portions too. Since we were noobs at his Diner he also had us taste a variety of his smoothies. All nutrient dense and delicious. We also had some of his flour less, sugarless, egg free Carrot Cake. I AM A FAN! It was all incredibly tasty and I truly can't wait to come again. Now for the NON VEGETARIAN and those who don't eat a clean diet I do need to warn you that the flavors may be different than what you are used to. The smoothies are not the calorie laden sugar fruit ruined chain smoothie. They are nutrient dense healthy smoothies. When you normally eat this way, the taste is delicious. If you don't you may find the taste different. Another warning is this, Spirulina is a very important superfood in the Vegetarian's diet. It is a complete protein, it has Iron and loads of Vitamin A, also has protective Phytochemicals. Having said that let me explain that it is SEAWEED.. or Lakeweed. Yes, it tastes like it too. The taste can overpower and it is not pleasant to the untrained palate. So before you order something you aren't sure of and may not like, ask them to put little or no Spirulina in your Smoothie. I wasn't sure what to expect based on the reviews and I'm so glad I read them first. I was hungry for breakfast. The only options ready were the veggie sandwich and the grain burger. Since I knew what Patrick L thought about the veggie sandwich I ordered the grain burger and the "rain forest smoothie". The grain burger itself was tasty. The sandwich came wrapped in cellophane and fell apart when I removed it. This could easily have been remedied by serving the sandwich in a pita. The smoothie has carrots, avocado, banana, ginger, apple. It's their signature smoothie and quite hearty and refreshing. I wouldn't complain about the decor.The space is old but clean. It's a health food store for gods sake! They all look and smell like that. My only complaint would be that it's a bit too laid back. Most of the dishes are not ready when the store opens and it takes a realllly long time to get your order. After I asked for the check I was told that there were lots of cooked dishes available. This review is really late, like six months late but i remember my experiences and everything i had. It is a small little counter in a health market. Kindy hippie and grungy looking. As for cleanliness, the market it self is a little cramp and dusty. Beehive area doesn't really seem like it keeps up with food preparation area cleanliness at least not to the health code standard. At least the girl behind the counter always washes her hands and clean everything before preparing the next order if she is using it again. Maybe its just me but i been to a couple organic and healthy juice places like Choices in Brickell and the Juicery Bar in Brickell Key (by far the best) and to me Beehive is my least favorite. I had the soy empanada, vegan sandwich, and a mixture of fruit smoothie that had fruit chosen by the guest behind me that the server served first because she knew the girl and said i would need to wait another 10 -15 mins if i want a different set of fruits. I found that rude and already waited 20 mins for service plus i was late for work so i hesitantly said ok. I think my pet peeve was the server, luckily i heard her tell someone it was her last day and she didnt care but still it turned me off for ever coming back and its not the cleanest place. The veggie sandwich was fresh but bland, not enough dressing. Soy empanada and beef empenada was dry and bland. The smoothie was ok but it wasnt the choice of fruit i wanted in which made me unhappy. I went to this place to buy some natural medicine. We notice with my husband that we could Have lunch also . I Had the Black Mamba smoothie, $5.50, with acai, banana, spirulina, and a nice little bite of ginger. (So good). Both the smoothie and the price are delicious. I also ordered the soup of the day, which was cream of broccoli. It was also great, I believe everything is vegetarian but I didn't ask what was in it. Definitely tasty and real.
