Finally tried Beehive and I was super impressed by the great food and outstanding service. We sat in the bar area (which btw is open seating) and although our server was super busy, she was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We started with the Long Island ice teas, which we have heard sooo much about. The taste was fine, nothing special. It was the size that was unique. They come in huge mason jars that are about the size of your head. For $10 it was worth it just for the size. I ordered the chef's special of the evening: crab and spinach stuffed enchiladas topped with a cheddar crawfish sauce and bacon wrapped shrimp, with a side of southwest mashed potatoes and sautéed veggies. The meal also came with a salad to start with, I got the beehive salad which was super good! But my meal really was incredible, and this is coming from someone who doesn't typically go for seafood. I wouldn't change a thing about the dish, it was perfect. My boyfriend got the small filet, which came with a salad and a baked potato. The filet was good, but definitely not the best in town. Didn't have much seasoning on it. If you want a filet that practically melts in your mouth, I'd recommend Perini's in Buffalo Gap. We both preferred the chef's special this evening. Even though we weren't crazy about the filet, it was cooked perfectly and my meal was so good that I have to give this place 5 stars. read more

At first, me and the hubby were really excited about this place, but after getting our food.. the food was really average. My man's got the grilled chicken breast dish and it tasted really dry. The escargot isn't really high quality in my opinion. The cheese they used looked cheap and I couldn't eat it after that. I would still give it a shot if you can eat escargot anywhere. It doesn't compare to the escargot I normally eat. The sautéed mushrooms were delicious! I recommend getting that dish. I was also excited about the place because it gave me Vermont Fire and Ice vibes... but like the bootleg version. They need more lighting in that place but I really did appreciate the art and the ladies at the front desk were nice. Heard this was an institution on Abilene and had to try. We were there for college orientation so wandered in about 7:30 on a Friday night and it was packed!!! We were lucky and got some seats at the bar right away. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is it did take a good while to get greeted and drink orders taken. Like 15+ min. Once we were greeted they were super attentive. We loaded up with prime rib for me and sirloin for my son. WOW what a hunk of prime rib!! It was absolutely amazing and cooked to perfection. Could only eat about half, apparently one of the cooks dogs was in for a treat. Som ate salad, bread, steak, loaded potato and there was absolutely nothing left. Can't wait to go back and bring my wife she will absolutely love it. Prices were great well worth every penny. read more

ALBANY LOCATION! So we have been to the Beehive Saloon on 5 occasions since this last winter. First 2 times were phenomenal. We went back to back weekends around Christmas. Both of those times we sat in the big bar area when it was just a dining room. Rosie and Daniel waited on us both weekends . They worked great together and never kept us waiting . Food and drinks were amazing . We received our food in a reasonable amount of time. Couldn't wait to come back . Fast forward to spring we have ate here 3 more times . The third time service was decent and food was good but apparently one of the owners or the owners daughter approached our table to talk. She was obviously under the influence of something because she was slurring heavily. She was telling us about her son and personal life going in to way to much personal detail to be comfortable with! She was not picking up on our cues we were done listening to her . Very bad experience and customer service. The next 2 times we were waited on by the same girl. I believe jasmine was her name . She was over the top RUDE . Even rolled her eyes when asked for my vegetable when I was given a baked potato instead . I honestly have never been treated so rude by a server in my life !!! How could you not rate this a 5? My grandson (18) was challenged to pick a lunch spot as we traveled from Lubbock to Fort Worth. He nailed it. Nice setting and atmosphere. Great prices and super friendly and fast service. We both chose CFS from the lunch menu. I had salad and he had soup. Italian chicken and vegetable soup looked delicious. My salad perfect. CFS was cut with a fork tender. Tea was delicious. Every detail was on point. This will be my go to in Abilene. read more

We had a very nice dinner last night. We started with the avocado-stuffed-with-pulled pork appetizer...amazing! Maybe the best pulled pork I've ever eaten. It's an unusual combo for sure, but very good. And it's HUGE! Their bread loaf is quality sour dough. (One critique...the butter pats were rock-hard cold. If they were softened it would make spreading it on that beautiful bread much easier.) I also had their soup special....beef tarragon. It was a unique taste, but very good. My wife had the CFS. It was good, not great...and she's a CFS aficionado. I had the sirloin with a side of beer-battered shrimp ($8). My steak was ordered medium and was very slightly over-cooked. Not enough to send back, but slightly. (That's probably my bad. Sirloin can be a bit dry / lean anyway. Should have ordered med-rare.) I had a glass of their house Cabernet which was a great value. A healthy pour for $7. We were too full to try dessert, but their options sounded really interesting. Our server was excellent. The owner / manager (??) even made his rounds through the dining room to check on everyone. Overall, a good meal, but not a great meal. And that's OK. Our bill came to $70. A very fair value for our dinner...all we had hoped for or expected. You should give them a try. They're doing a good job in downtown Abilene. read more
