First, it's very hard to find a stylist that will actually listen to what you want and.. actually do it. Unfortunately, I struck out this time. She did the opposite of what I asked for. I recently moved to Duxbury and needed a hair stylist. The receptionist scheduled me with Danielle for a haircut. She was very friendly and seemed like she was listening to me when I showed her a picture of a long bob with a long wavy front and a lot of short beautiful layers in the back with a dramatic slant . I told her straight off because my hair is long (was..) that it was.. very very ...important to me that the front be below my collarbone. I touched my chest and showed her where I wanted it ,..BELOW..my collarbone. She said ok. Her first time snipping through it was much shorter, ...to my shoulders , ABOVE my collarbone. I shrieked inside but told myself well, it's already done so I can live with it. At least it's (not above my shoulders). Which I hate. I detest my hair floating above my shoulders like a bobble head. The problem was she kept going front to back pulling hair up and snipping a tiny bit more and a tiny bit more and a tiny bit more and a tiny bit more. She stopped halfway to rinse another client and when she came back she went over the left side... once more, totally leaving out the right side. I even a sqeemed and said to her.. pleeease.. no more from the front. I think she forgot where she left off. I asked for the mirror and there was barely a slant from the front to the back and no pretty layers in the back. It was like a bowl cut. I'm not lying... I'll add a photo. I had to ask for more from the back to at least have some slant. Anyways... I ended up with bobble head hair and a very generic version of the picture I showed her. This is not personal , I believe Danielle was a very friendly person, but I am not at all pleased with my hair. It's in my nature to just grin and bare it. I even tipped her, but after getting home and seeing my hair closely I have been stewing over this. I will now have to use the pandemic time to try to grow my hair back out to at least touch below my shoulders. Uuuggh! read more

I am so glad to have found this hair Salon. Matt at reception is wonderful, so welcoming and professional. I highly recommend Melissa, my stylist. Not only is she very talented but she is easy to talk to. I have long thick red hair and it takes ages to color and cut. Melissa took lots of time to understand my hair and its texture. Love this salon! Very busy, but with a youthful, friendly vibe. Sue, the owner, cuts and colors my rather difficult hair, and seems to enjoy and meet the challenge every time. I watch as she oversees her stylists, and she is nothing but kind and professional with them too. This salon is fantastic! The moment I walked in I knew I was going to have a good experience. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and do great work (I saw Linda and she was wonderful). They all graduated from the same hair dressing school and take continuing education classes together. The shampoo area even has massage chairs! I will definitely be going back. read more

Everyone but our stylist here was super nice. However, having a simple up-do with a braided ponytail was a lot to ask our stylist for $85! Rolling her eyes and complaining that she had a lot of up-dos today didn't help. Found out later that she is a new addition to the staff and likely not the one we had reserved. I followed Danielle from a salon in Hanover. Danielle is my girl for my unruly hair. That said due to my need to change my schedule I have had others help with my appointments and everyone has been fabulous. I go frequently to avoid being gray and I see everyone's work, they all make everyone look beautiful. If Danielle is on vacation or not available I'd be comfortable with anyone else due to what I've seen. Lastly, the pulse of this place is professional yet warm, all ages of clients are welcomed happily. I would highly recommend. I moved to the burbs from Boston a year ago and have been looking for a while for a new hair dresser so that I don't have to trek to Newbury Street every time I need a cut or color. The Beehive came highly recommended by a friend of mine who is a hairdresser herself and always has the cutest cuts, so I decided to try it out. I saw Kacey, and she was awesome!! She cut my side swept bangs perfectly, which can be a challenge for some hair dressers. They use Oribe products, which I have always been obsessed with. I also thought the price was very reasonable- it was $15 less than I am used to paying in the city. Yay! I will definitely be returning. read more

There are so many examples I could give to support my five-star rating, it's hard to know where to begin. Let's start with the professionalism of all the gals, starting with Sue: this is a group that works hard to be on top of their game as stylists and it's not a place to dish dirt. You come here knowing that everyone is well trained, attend to their craft, and can chat you up without being catty. Your beauty and service needs and concerns are addressed with empathy, skill, and the desire to make you happy. Sue is has been my stylist for over 20 years, and she is without a doubt a long-run player. She continues to get training herself, and always checks in about how my last cut was, what's working, what isn't. Doing the "same old" isn't her thing, unless it's yours ("the client's wishes come first"). She has criticized her own work before I could leave the chair, taking extra time to wet down and recut something that didn't turn out as well as she wanted. (This hasn't happened more than a few times, she does a fabulous job!) She understands that things will go wrong and that for some clients, this will be traumatic. I've seen her turn herself inside out to fix a client's displeasure, even when the result wasn't a mistake (client insists on X color and, after it's been applied, doesn't like the color on herself). Even though Sue is my regular gal, she does a brilliant job hiring and developing her staff, and I would recommend any of them too (all have done some kind of service on my hair, including cuts). When I've had a life crisis, my hair isn't one of them because Sue is accommodating. Did I mention that she's also a wise woman? She should be granted an honorary counseling degree. Finally, Sue makes me laugh. She never laughs at anyone else and picks on herself plenty. The mark of a solid citizen. It doesn't get better than this, ladies! read more

Sorry to have to post this but felt compelled to share my experience. After waiting 3 mos for an appt was very upset to be told after appt my this week I would have to wait til April for another cut/color. When I asked about march was told "someone" (not sue)would do my color. When asked abt cut, was told I'd be put on a cancellation list. not good customer service...just as an aside, they let me out of there w/a glob of color on my ear. How does this get missed by the shampoo girl & the owner?? Not great attn to detail. Cut was so-so. Not much difference from when I first came in. So I guess not such a loss after all. read more

I tried the Beehive Salon in Duxbury for the first time and I'm so glad I did! The salon is small, but very modern and clean. Kasey was great! She gave me a beautiful haircut (long layers so a sleek look is a must) and a dark color w/ gloss.
