I am a regular customer and have been here many times with my out-of-state ID without ever having a problem. This visit was completely unacceptable. The server questioned my ID and took an excessive amount of time to process everything. What made the situation worse was her attitude throughout the entire interaction. I felt like I was being treated with suspicion and disrespect for no reason. The most frustrating part is that I asked TWICE to be helped by a different server. Not once, but twice. Both requests were denied, and I was essentially told I had to continue dealing with the same person. As a customer, if I feel uncomfortable with the way I'm being treated, I should have the option to speak with someone else. Being forced to continue an interaction with a server after requesting a change multiple times is completely unacceptable. I've spent plenty of money here and have always enjoyed coming here, but this experience left a terrible impression. No customer should be made to feel trapped in an uncomfortable situation when a simple request for another server could have resolved the issue. Management needs to take customer concerns seriously because this was one of the most frustrating service experiences I've had. read more

The the middle of downtown Libertyville sits a place that I have passed on numerous occasions and had never ventured inside. That place is Morgan's Bar & Grill. The place with the distinctive green awning. Why I have missed this place is beyond me. And when others asked where we were headed for our burger club, and I said "Morgan's". People replied with "where is that?" I said, "Libertyville." People: "Where in Libertyville?" Me: "Downtown on Milwaukee. The place with the green awning out front." People: ... Me: "Yeah, I passed by it a lot too and never went inside. I don't know why I didn't." People: =still blank looks= Oh well, we went yesterday for our burger club. We walked in at 6:20pm and the place was packed. All the tables/booths along the wall across from the bar were full and almost every seat at the bar had a butt in it. There were two tables available when we arrived. We were seated at one and the server was johnny-on-the-spot as out party of five trickled in. Between the time we sat down (6:20pm) and the time we left (approximately 8:40pm), the bar and grill slowly cleared out and no one came in. Apparently they're open until 11pm during the week. Clearly this is a place for dinner from the local community. There were families there and workers nearby grabbing a drink after work. Of course, we're the burger club, so we all ordered burgers. I and a another person ordered the Bacon and Cheddar burgers, got them medium-rare and medium respectively, and got the "Morgan Fries" with a side of ranch. Morgan fries are seasoned waffle fries. And for those who like their fries well done (crispy) you needn't have to ask, they are well done (not how I like my fries). Two guys got The Classic Standby, both without cheese, and cooked medium, one with regular fries and one with tots. The last guy got their burger of the month which was a reuben sandwich on a burger with corned beef, thousand island dressing, and swiss cheese and he opted for cole slaw. My burger was decent. The bun held up, the bacon was a little crispy but not well done and not greasy, the cheese was nicely melted, too. The burger seemed like it was a patty from box and not a homemade burger. Maybe it was and maybe it wasn't. I did ask for it to be medium-rare and it came out that way, so regardless if homemade or not, it was cooked well and had a nice char on the outside of the burger and had good flavor. The fries tore up the roof of my mouth like the old Cap'n Crunch cereal. The rand was good too. The guy in our group with the burger of the month said it was a good burger with good flavor, but the slaw was drenched in mayo. It was a thick mayo too. Overall, we thought the burger were pretty decent and the place had other items on their menu that looked good to try another day. We'll have to head back here some other time as Morgan's Bar & Grill should be on your list of Libertyville places to hit up for a nice meal, drink with friends, catch a game, or come with family. It is definitely that old pub feeling. The food is consistently good- bar food. Often times I get the sense there are a lot of locals that go here and they seem a little territorial but not overly staring. The bathrooms could use an update and the dirty beer keg smell are expected at a place like this. However, after a few minutes it subsides. The pizza is average with most of the ingredients being in the middle of the pie. My major complaint are the prices for certain items. It's very important to support local businesses, especially ones worth visiting often. Morgan's is a staple and located in the heart of downtown Libertyville I have been to Morgan's bar a few times now. The ambiance is very casual, the staff and bartenders are very friendly and the owner Michael is very attentive. Even the repeat local customers are very friendly as well. The cheeseburger and french fries or Morgan's waffle fries are delicious. The Italian beef with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese is very good too. Both are ample portions and the creamy coleslaw is fantastic. I heard the the Reuben and chicken quesadillas are both excellent too. There are ample choices to choose from and this is way better than just bar food. They have a full bar and the kettle one citron lemon martini Allison makes or the French martini Michael always makes for me is excellent! The food and cocktail prices are reasonable. Finally got to go here for a really nice night out with friends! The atmosphere was really upbeat and there were so many TV's in the room showing all different sports! I had the chicken quesadillas with chicken! It was huge and had lots of veggies and chicken in it, very cheesey too! I also asked for jalapeno ($1 extra) but totally worth it! We've only ordered food for take out, but after the first order we were very impressed so have ordered several more times! Their buffalo wings were a hit with my daughter, who's tried ALL of the wings in the area-paired with cheese curds, this was a winning combination! I've also tried the mushroom Swiss burger with the Morgan (waffle) fries, and that was a delicious meal-the burger was done medium as requested, and wasn't greasy in any way, and the waffle fries were seasoned well and were crispy outside and fluffy inside, as you'd hope they would be! Morgan's is back! We had enjoyed going to Morgan's for many years, sometimes twice a week. But then we took a hiatus during the previous owners. These new owners mean business! They are committed to restoring the Morgan's that we loved and enjoyed, by ourselves and with friends. One positive sign is that so many staff members have stayed. Many of the weekly specials have been restored. Four of us went to Morgan's on a Saturday night for dinner and beverages. Our server, Mia, was friendly and attentive. She checked back several times to make sure everything was OK, and it was! The food was what we remembered, for the most part. The beverages were generous pours. And one of the owners was even on site, making rounds, making sure everybody was happy. But not in an intrusive way at all! My husband and I like this place. It's a bit divey, but very friendly with affordable prices . My husband likes the 50 cent wings. I had the fish and chips the first time I went and they were okay. This last time I had the pulled pork special and it was much better. Bar type food is the way to go. Everybody says the pizza is wonderful, but we haven't tried it yet. They have plenty of draft beer specials to wash the food down with. My favorite part of this place the atmosphere. I have to say, been here multiple times throughout the years, has always been a great neighborhood bar to hang out with friends, have some drinks and a bite for a reasonable price...apparently under new ownership, I think he's under the impression they're running a fine dining establishment. Food is overpriced, you can get the same food at lower prices at much nicer and much more quality establishments. They actually line item charge for things added to your burger, if you want fries, they charge! A CHEESEBURGER should ALWAYS come with fries!! Just a note to the new owner this is a BAR with BAR FOOD. I paid $20 for a cheeseburger should never be this expensive at a BAR. I really do love this place, I just hope they correct their pricing issues before their customers go find other options. We've been going to Morgans for a while now. Usually food is good, not today. Also questioned my bill because it was so high. Was told new owners raised all the prices - a ridiculous amount!!!!! My BLT was $13 and it didn't even come with fries. And my drink.... $14 for basically a shot of Grey Goose. Before going to Morgans, I went to Binny's to buy a larbe bottle of Svedka Vodka, it was $14.99, when I paid about the same for a shot of vodka on the rocks!!!!! This place was recommended by a friend. Firkins across the street had too long of a wait and was jammed so we tried out Morgans. Upon walking in prime time on a Friday night Morgans was packed too, but Bo Bo up front at the bar saw us and gave us the two bar stools where he was. Good start :-).
