Rick J. Fisher Construction Co. IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!! I met Mr. Fisher quite by accident at a local restaurant and seeing his truck outside that had his business information and construction services on it I asked him about it. He quickly showed me on his I-Phone all his construction jobs he and his teams had done and they were fantastic. They were so wonderful I was sure my husband and I could not afford such wonderful results for our home. But I was wrong - Rick is great. He showed us options and provided quality service, with top quality results, and new renovation to the exterior of our home that we have been wanting to do for several years and now are enjoying!!!! It has increased the value and look of our home, and our quality of life. What did he do - well he and his team tore down our deck which was old we felt could no longer use. In its place we have a beautiful new deck complete with a great stairwell, more space and cool lighting on an automatic system (along with manual set on/off if we want to). After we had the deck done (which Rick made sure every aspect of it was to our satisfaction to every last detail - RICK STANDS BEHIND HIS WORK AND HIS WORD!!!!! OLD SCHOOL WORD - MEANING HE KEEPS IT AND HIS HAND SHAKE IS A PROMISE FOR QUALITY AND SERVICE) - -back to after the deck - we saved more money and had Rick fix under the deck for us - since we have a walk out - he put a wonderful sculpted and innovative stamped concrete deck under our new deck which gave us even more living space and entertainment area not to mention more increase value to our home. Also we can sit outside now in the shade under our deck even when it hot. Besides all the great product we got with top notch quality, Rick does it all with a wonderful smile, and expedient service. No waiting weeks, months for things to get done. Rick and his team tell you when they will start (they come on time!!!) and they finish when they say they will on time or done right! Even when we had some minor follow ups Rick came right out and took care of it no questions, no problems. He even gave us a wonderful bird house that he makes and gives to his new customers and another time came by with some great cannoli after I had told him where he could get some. He got his and he gave us two!!!! He is old school charm and integrity but modern to date, state of the art professional who keeps up with the latest products and techniques. I could go on and on about his wonderful service. RICK FISHER IS OUR CONTRACTOR that we will continue to use. I am now saving to have interior work done such as overhauling our second bathroom. Overall, very happy. I initially had Rick come out to give a quote for an attached carport, but while he was there, I asked him if a few other projects we had planned were in his company's abilities. He responded that they do everything! So I got separate quotes for various projects, including a bathroom reno; they all wound up being decent compared to quotes from other companies. What we ultimately decided to go forward with was a teardown of our (poorly constructed from several decades ago) covered/screened-in patio, and rebuilding it as a proper 3-season room. We also had a stamped concrete patio put in beside it. I found Rick easy to work with - I work from home, though, so I'm relatively flexible and any time people needed to come by was fine with me. Rick did visit every day of the project, and was always available via text or phone call if I had questions or concerns. He advised me on the design, and drew up the plans and got the permits and approvals and inspections scheduled - all that happened just fine without any extra work needed from me. The construction: Rick's crew is awesome! The demo and excavating guys worked tirelessly despite falling snow; the construction guys did leave my yard kind of a mess with tools and materials, but it's construction, so I don't see how that's avoidable. :) It took 2 weeks to build the structure and the concrete patio, then an interminable 6 week wait for the EZE-Breeze windows to come in (they're made to order). There were also a few days where they fixed things and did repairs - all the hammering had damaged my interior drywall, but one of Rick's guys came out on a weekend to repair and repaint. Once the windows were finally in, it only took one day to install them, power-wash everything, and finish up. The results: I'm THRILLED with the 3-season room, which we have dubbed the solarium :) It's gorgeous. Rick has a great style for his work, with nicely-balanced elements and lovely details like the arched trim and wainscoted ceiling. He advised me to finish the house wall in gray wood boards that mimic the house siding outside the solarium, and it looks great. Overall he's happy to give you exactly what you want, but he'll also offer design advice if you want it. Nitpicks: The herringbone brick pattern on the stamped concrete patio is not as neat as I would have liked, honestly, but there wasn't much to be done about it once it dried, so I'll live with it. And I wish they'd caulked all the seams around the baseboards and windows better, but by the time they left I just wanted to be done. I did ask Rick to send someone to fix a window that hadn't been installed quite properly, and his guy came out within a couple days. They didn't regrade the dirt around the patio as well as I'd have liked, but I'm planning to have more landscaping done later this summer anyways, so it didn't feel worth asking them to come back again. Summing up: overall, I found Rick competent and responsive. They do quality work, and he takes pride in his company and his creations. I love my 3-season room (it's honestly the best I've seen on my walks around my neighborhood). Will definitely consider them for future projects. read more

Rick Fisher, owner of Before and After, was THE only contractor who immediately responded when we started looking for a contractor to construct a front porch, gazebo and deck to wrap around our house. Not only was he fast, but his detailed explanation of what would be required to complete the project, e.g. movement of heat pump, numerous permits required by PWCounty, and costs to be expected was exceptional. Other contractors were "so busy" they couldn't get out or even return a call promptly, while others submitted estimates that did not include major elements of requested construction or any information on permit costs, etc. Once the contract was agreed upon, Rick patiently worked with us on getting the approval process through our Montclair Homeowners Association. He submitted detailed drawings, etc., as required to ensure the work could begin as soon as possible. Once approved, the real expertise and professionalism of his entire organization was evident. His tremendous crew of Skip, Gary, Mark, Horatio, Willie, and others set about getting the job done. Not only were they skilled artisans , they actually enjoyed their work and took great pride in building a beautiful addition and turning our house into a showplace of sorts. Almost daily, we get a lot of foot traffic by the house because it is on the lake near a popular walking path. Each day from beginning to end of the project and constantly since, we have received glowing praises on the work by the crew and how it changed the appearance of the house and made it so beautiful. The reason for this great success was Rick's almost daily visits to monitor the work's progress, check on our approval, and take care of ensuring daily clean-up was ongoing. Not only that, he would offer ideas on how to make the final result even better. For example, he suggested adding an arch to the front porch which enhanced the look tremendously. Willie's detailed craftsmanship in the design over the door and the natural wood added in the ceiling of the archway created, added to the beauty of the project and ensured that the front porch didn't look like every other front porch around the community. Our experience with Rick Fisher, and Before and After Home improvement was in a word, exceptional. From the beginning of our kitchen/family room remodeling process, Rick was patient, knowledgeable, confident, and professional. Rick worked with us for almost 3 months, coming to our home several times, to ensure we had exactly the kitchen we wanted. Once work was started the entire process only took 3 1/2 weeks to finish. Rick gave us estimates quickly in the beginning and each time we discussed a change in plan. He was highly responsive to all communications. Rick made suggestions, encouraged discussions, and remembered details. He walked us through the entire schedule and followed up with what his and our tasks were. During the work Rick had an experienced crew with whom he has worked, some for decades. His crew were always on time, polite, professional and they cleaned as they went. The crew did their best to minimize the disruption to our daily lives, with things like keeping the refrigerator plugged in for us to use during the entire project. His crew, which included Plumbers - Electrician - Carpenters - Tile Men - Painters & Laborers, all instilled a high level of trust and safety. All of his crew were focused on doing the job right even when they ran into a snag, of no fault of their own, that increased their work efforts. Rick's prices are hard to beat. When I speak of the entire cost of our home improvement to friends who have had similar work done they are amazed at how reasonable they were. Rick even went out of his way to make purchases for us during the project when we either forgot to buy something or needed some help making choices. We have a friend who already has lined Rick up for her kitchen redo and we have recommended his company to several others who are trying to find competent and reliable workers for their homes. We just had our kitchen gutted and totally remodeled by Rick Fisher and his fabulous team! The work, the professionalism, the creativity and the thought put into our project by Rick and his team goes way beyond any other contractor we have hired in the past. Two weeks from start to finish. Rick changed the layout, giving us more room than we ever imaged. He is incredibly creative and Rick goes out of his way to make sure every component of the work is perfection. He stays on task and coordinates everyone's schedule. Love his crew. It means a lot when you have the same group working together for decades. He has an eye for what works and what doesn't. We used his design consultant, Lisa Sweeney for our cabinets and layout. She is such a pro and a wonderful woman to work with. We love our cabinets and what she chose for the workings inside the cabinets. We have the most amazing pantry, totally designed by Lisa, a fabulous wet bar and an amazing island set up as well. We also decided to replace all our carpet on the first two floors, including the stairs at the same time. Rick designed a beautiful stairway in our foyer to replace the old carpeted one. It was a big undertaking and we are amazed at the difference our two floors look now. Incredibly beautiful. Rick's pricing is competitive, but more importantly, his work ethic, design ability and positive creative attitude is such a fresh approach and calming influence. The brick patio off of my glass sliding doors was being covered by water everytime it rained...then the silt ...the patio was disappearing under mud and silt...during one of the heavy rains watercame about 3" from the glass sliding door!!!..so I stareted callingerosion specialist, the hill in the back was eroding down and all the flow from a few neighbors house flowed down to me!...Mr Fisher had done work for me in the past and it was always fantastic. I wasn't sure if he could fix this water and erosion issue...but he came through with flying colors!!And under budget!! And in just a few days!!..the big test was the monsoon rain March 22,23...no worries!...he used the natural water flow but made a beautiful concrete retaining wall,water flow and patio protector that matches the front walkway and steps he did in October. I couldn't be happier! His employees are so professional..not one sign of any work debris left behind...everything was cleaned and all trash removed.Also very important...they all paid attention to the small details! Mr Fisher is always a phone call away and stopped in just to check on things. I think with this last huge rain I may have been in jeapardy of water damage but Mr Fishers ingenuity of the water flow issue solved the problem. Our home was built in 1989 and time and weathering have led to a lot of wood rot on the trim and aging of the windows and shutters. RJ was recommended to us by good friends who were very pleased with his team's work. Sometimes good recommendations are a little exagerrated, but we quickly learned that was not the case with RJ. He came and did a walk around the outside and came up with a preliminary estimate to repair/replace the trim, paint the trim and replace all of the windows and shutters. When we decided to go ahead with the work he did an extensive walk through to get the measurements and to talk with us on exactly what we wanted. Prior to ordering the windows he returned to double check some measurements. Windows arrived in less than the estimated 2 weeks and he immediately scheduled the work to accomodate our schedule. The work was completed in 2 days and now our home is a showplace. An added highlight is that the team left no trace of having been there. All of RJ's team were highly professional, skilled workers who paid attention to detail and were very courteous and careful not to cause any damage. Enclosed screened patio. Project started and finished timely. The builder remains professional and courteous at all times. He never breaks character no matter how many questions I asked. He was patient and made sure I understood the process. Prior to providing the estimate he explained the steps and showed me an example of what the patio would look like. He managed his staff and the project...which reduced my stress. If I had questions or concerns he was prompt in responding and advising the resolution. I choose to have cocktail rails and he gave yhe pros and cons which aided me in making a sound business decision. I wasn't able to get the platform poured so he had his guys put some temporary papers down so I didn't have to walk down the stairs directly onto the dirt. Thanks Mr. Fisher for doing an excellent job and allowing me to vent but you always brought the best you and remained professional, courteous and patient. My neighbors were a little envious at the detailed work that was done when compared to their deck that was done by a different contractor. Everyone loves the door and the framing around the door. I had no issues with the inspections performed by PWC. Papers should read pavers. read more

In late spring 2016, Rick was a referral as a replacement contractor after the one that we had to add an addition to our house could no longer do the work. After a discussion with him, Rick provided some unique ideas to complete our project. His knowledge of the Virginia housing codes was invaluable. Our addition has passed all county inspections. Each job that we contracted Before and After Home Improvements was done by individuals that showed care and consideration for our house and the work they were doing. Additionally, they were polite, prompt and the work was quality. The jobs contracted were to drywall our two story addition, include trim two garage doors, vinyl siding for the addition, hardwood flooring, and to replace gutters on our original structure and add gutters to the new addition. Rick kept us apprised when supplies were ordered and expected to be delivered. After we modified our plans for the addition, Rick provided carpenters to make some adjustments to the stairwell head clearance and removal of an unnecessary beam. We feel like we hit the contractor jackpot! Rick is very competitively priced but with superior quality workmanship. He and his crew finished our basement- built 3 rooms with closets, a bathroom, utility closet, and main living space. He ran cable and plumbed for a future bar. I asked him to match all the details of our main floors so it would fit seamlessly in with the rest of the home and not feel like a basement- he hit it out of the park. He matched our window/door trims and all of the crown molding. It all looks fantastic! I also gave him a picture of a bathroom that inspired me and he crafted one that looks amazing- modern tile and finishes are right out of HGTV. He is very responsive, professional, visits the site constantly to make sure work is on schedule and up to par, and very efficient- it took less than 4 weeks to complete. Before and After Home Improvement just completed an extensive remodel of both our Master Bath and Hall Bath that shared common walls. This was (for us) a big project. It entailed completely gutting two baths, moving plumbing and electrical, installing new walls, new cabinets, tile, marble Master shower, everything new, building closets, carpeting the entire upstairs (5 bedrooms, the hallway, and stairs). Wow! I have been around a long time - I have dealt with contractors missing appointments, shoddy work, cost over-runs, and taking weeks to finish a job that should only take a day or two. This was NOT the case with Rick and his company. Once we agreed to the work and the price, they were here within a few days, worked until the project was done, and produced an outstanding product! If your looking for a quality home improvement contractor that gets the job done as requested in a timely manner and no up-charging this is the company. I received a fair quote and a very on time date they could get to my project. My project was not the ordinary but that didn't phase this company at all. They installed the foundation of a drop down tv from the ceiling by by building the enclosure for the tv and lift, moving my tray ceiling forward for closer tv viewing, secured the enclosure to the trust, and installed base brackets for tv mount into enclosure, ran power and cable to the area and installed two attic fans and sanded painted entire area in 3 days. I was so impressed by how flawless the work was. Very friendly group of guys... couldn't have dealt with a better company. Simply Outstanding! I don't think there's anything these guys can't build. The project at hand was a complete remodel of a large portion of our basement, including demoing and enlarging the bathroom (and moving plumbing), overhauling a bar (granite top, custom moldings/trim on bar and cabinets), over 1,000 sq ft of new penny tile, re-framing the bathroom and a portion of the bedroom, installing a custom walk-in shower, drywall and paint work, etc. In summary, this wasn't the first time we've hired Rick and it won't be the last. The quality of workmanship is top-notch, Rick is extremely responsive, very flexible, lines of communication are constantly open, and he is genuinely a partner from design all the way through to the finishing touches.
