I had multiple estimates for a pressure treated retaining wall, three drain pipes, a low level deck tear down, river rock/flagstone and artificial grass install. From day one, I knew he was going to be the company I went with. He was super professional, came in at a fair price, completed the project quickly with a very professional/knowledgeable staff and has been amazing to work with on the back end. He was so good, I recommended him to my parents for a massive hardscape project and to my homeowners association for some tree work our community needs completed. We had no issues with Jeremy / SSS at all. A lot of companies don't really care about you once the check is cashed and the project is completed, but not Jeremy. Throughout working with Jeremy on my home project, he had found out that my grandfather was very ill (eventually passed away). He showed up on time, assessed the work to be done, and came up with a few options for us with an affordable price. About 90 min later, we had our mantle installed on our stone fireplace, a shutter replaced on the front of our house, and a new flag holder installed near the front door. First and foremost everyone with Before and After Home Improvement has a work ethic and it's a good one, no shabby shoddy work here. When Rick came to give me an estimate for the project he brought books that had the different colors and grades/levels of composite decking as well as a book with the different railing and baluster choices. Now I did have other estimates set up, however one did not show, and the other company was very nice but they emailed me the quote a few days later and told me they used Trex decking and that was it, no brochures or explaining the different options, nothing, made me wonder if I was supposed to do my own research. Rick explained the high and low end options and the differences in the type of boards Trex carries, which were also pictured in the brochure. If you are within a budget he will let you know what the pricing differences are, your best option, how long the product will last, warranties, ect. He takes the time to talk to you like you're a person and not just a customer in the assembly line. The gentlemen that came to do the work have a work ethic (getting harder to find in people nowadays), they showed up on time, didn't mind me asking questions here and there and wanted the installation to be and look the best. Stay away from HaiJoe!! After much research and consideration, I hired HaiJoe to complete a full…read moredeck rebuild. However today, a year later from starting, my deck remains unfinished and only passed inspection after we personally went through the process with the county. From the first "final delivery" of the deck to me is where I started seeing issues. Huge gaps in the Trex were made at each post that collect water, incorrect pieces of Trex were used on the railings, Trex were cut inappropriately in the middle of the flooring, and none of the footers of the original deck were removed. Cleanup was terrible, large cuts were made in railings that needed to be rectified, the edges of the deck were left unfinished, and the overall workmanship was very poor. Over time, HaiJoe "fixed" a few of the issues, while many of them remain "as is" as they would otherwise require a complete rebuild to be resolved. Many of the "fixes" actually caused additional sets of issues, and the owner still sent the same Foreman! Elder Ramos, the owner was hard to get a hold of, then hostile on the phone, and altogether unresponsive. Elder accused us of lying, raised his voice, and hung up on us over the phone. He lied that our deck passed its final inspection, which it did not until months later when we took care of it ourselves. I am so disappointed with the deck that I have been left with. Every day I use it; I see the poor workmanship that was put into it. Do not use this company unless you want a terrible product and bad customer service.
