I will admit that I'm not much of a farm dude, though my father actually grew up on a tobacco farm…read more There's no tobacco here. At least not in the fields. I had the chance to accompany a friend to Spencer Farm for a relatively brief visit. While it was pretty brief, I was impressed. Spencer Farm was started by, you guessed it, the Spencers - Lori and Kyle. It started out as Spencer's U-Pick in 1982. They started out with strawberries. By 1986, they moved to a new farm on Cherry Tree Road. They expanded to include red raspberries, black raspberries, blueberries, and chrysanthemums. They've added pumpkins, asparagus, grapes, Christmas trees, and their son founded a winery that now also sits on the farm grounds. Spencer's now does pre-picked, you-pick, and wholesale fruit. In 2008, they further expanded the farm with a variety of Indiana products including ice cream, fudge, pies, jams, jellies, etc. As you can tell, I immediately wanted to see their sunflower field. I love, love, love sunflowers. One of the reasons I'm not particularly a farm dude is because farms are seldom very accessible. While Spencer's isn't perfect, there's a STRONG effort here to be accessible. I was honestly surprised and impressed. You could send me to the gift shop, and I could be a very happy camper. I will note that they have a strong photography policy. It's on their website, but if you're taking professional equipment I'd read the policies first as there are requirements. There's an awful lot to love here. The people are friendly. The farm is well laid out and surprisingly accessible (the fields obviously have some issues - they're fields). There's accessible parking close to the entrance. This would be a great place for families. Children should definitely enjoy it. There's a strong element of faith here, and that's radiated in the beauty of the surroundings and the service.

Despite other orchards/pumpkin patches absolutely price gouging families, Anderson Orchard remains the same and reasonably priced. Hours for September and October: 8am-8pm (or dark) We drove from Noblesville, I was so happy they were still open! Plenty to do for the kids, playground, bounce houses, straw pile, photo ops. They offer U-pick apples & Pumpkins or if you're in a hurry they're ready to grab from the red barn. Pumpkins are super reasonably priced at $.40 a Lb or pie pumpkins for $3. The concession stand is open on Saturday & Sunday. I love the fried biscuits with apple butter & of course you must get the apple cider slushies!! I don't remember seeing it prior, but they had apple cobbler warmed up with ice cream, delicious! I just love this place so much! Don't leave without a bag of apples, Carmel apples, apple cider & get some of those fried biscuits! Highly recommend bringing the whole family.

While they don't have an indoor restroom, I was grateful to find they had a very clean port-a-potty. Because that was the very first thing my toddler asked to do! This place is adorable! Their little house where you get your basket and then pay is so sweet!! There are chairs out front by beautiful flowers (talk about perfect for a picture). They provide small wooden baskets that hold two empty cardboard pints. The nice boy at the counter explained what was growing where and we were on our way! We came at a time where blackberries and raspberries were available. I have to say that things were pretty picked over on this particular day - while the bushes were decently loaded with berries, most of them were green. While I enjoyed the hunt this provided, my toddler eventually lost interest. Go figure. We ended up with one pint of blackberries. We visited the raspberry bushes, but there were literally only a handful left. They'd run out over the weekend, so that why we visited on a Wednesday. So make sure you check their facebook page or call ahead in case they close early.

Upon entering the barn style store, we noticed very quickly how the inside was clean and staff were friendly. We got a few things to try at home like the fudge and doughnuts. We also got some food: BLT, burger, chips, drinks, etc. There are a lot of places to take beautiful fall photos. We were 3 adults and a toddler, thankfully we paid a reduced price to enter the activity area because only the toddler did anything & it was too cold / wet to do most of the activities. She loved the petting zoo area & had a blast in the corn pit. I recommend going even on a day the sun doesn't shine. Be sure to wear boots.

There's something for everyone here. My friend and I visited on a Saturday afternoon and had a great time. We found a spot to sit and enjoy the atmosphere while sipping on apple cider mimosas & slushies. The slushie was my favorite for sure. They have several options for hard cider on tap as well as a variety of food options. We took a hay ride and attempted the corn maze. There's a store with so many different products for purchase. Apples, cider, donuts, jams/jellies, honey, spices, baking mixes, and so many more. I was surprised at all the things they offered. For family fun there's a play area with slides and other kid friendly activities. Admission and parking are free. You pay for any activities that you would like to participate in. A great way to spend a Fall day.

The playground is a huge hit--there's a large slide structure, jumping pillows, and plenty of smaller play options for toddlers. My favorite newer addition has been the fall corn maze--such a fun experience! After playing, the kids love grabbing a treat or ice cream in the market. In the market, I usually stock up on cider, preserves, and fresh fruit--and I always grab a bottle of Wise Bird Cider (so good). They also offer baking mixes, vegetables, meats, and more. You'll find seasonal favorites like strawberries, apples, and pumpkins throughout the year, and everything is consistently fresh and delicious. We make it a tradition to buy strawberries in May, grab peaches during the summer, and pick apples in early fall. Stepping Stone also serves as a wedding and private events venue, and I often see school field trips there as well. The owners and staff are absolute sweethearts, and it's clear they genuinely care about what they do. They're wonderful community partners, and it really shows.
