Love the food here. One of my favorite Chinese food places in town. I used to go here about once a week or every other, but since shutting the dining area down, it's different. Long wait times during lunch make it difficult to consider Beijing as a viable lunch option. I think their food is some of the best in town, they've unfortunately just let the experience suffer enough that I may go once or twice a year now. I'd love to be able to stop in for lunch, sit down, have a nice meal, and go back to work, but those days are long gone. read more

The restaurant is very small, but clean. Children play in the restaurant at the tables. The ambience is ... strange; I felt as if I were intruding by stopping by. Worth it just for the Hot & Sour Soup. I stopped in for lunch while in town for business, upon seeing the 4/5 star rating. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the lunch special Hunan Beef, with an additional Hot & Sour soup. The soup was different than any other Hot & Sour soup I've had at any other Chinese restaurant--it was a very dark reddish-brown, with less variety of stuff floating in it (egg, carrot, bamboo shoots, etc), instead it just had a few large button mushrooms and it was definitely more hot & sour than I'm used to, but in a good way. The Hunan Beef was a little on the sweet side, but I'm sure they could make it less so upon request. All in all, it was a great lunch, and the price was very good as well. Would recommend. read more

But whoever said this hot and sour soup was the best they've ever had needs to have their taste buds checked. No egg, no tofu. A few mushrooms and about a half pound of salt. 1st time there this weekend with my cousin and her family. I would like to preface my review that we are from St. Louis and have access to many Chinese restaurants like P.F. Changs etc. After driving a little over 2 hours to get there we were starving and it was a toss up between Mexican and Chinese. We have always enjoyed China Gardens and have never been disappointed. My cousin and her husband suggested Beijing and that even there 1 yr old daughter loves it. Don't let the exterior fool ya (we were a bit apprehensive at first). The food was; fire, bombdiggety/ or whatever the word of the day is as was the exceptional service. The; wings, crab Rangoon (not overly sweet like some places which taste more like a dessert rangoon), fried rice and low mein were delicioso. We were very IMPRESSED! I ordered the hot and sour soup from this restaurant and there were only four mushrooms floating on the top, there were NO other vegetables in the entire 32oz soup. To make things worse the broth was dark and oily and tasted as if it was nothing but concentrate. it was awful! i sent a coworker to replace it and the employee informed him that there was nothing he could do, and that ALL of his h&s was like that.
