I had asked Dr. Salinger to come to my home to euthanize my 17 year old dog. I agreed to 10:00 am,…read morewhich I in retrospect was a ghastly error on my part. Dr. was punctual. Very professional. She allowed plenty of time for our last goodbyes. My old girl hadn't had a chance to rise from a long nights slumber and get the morning's usual long long drink of water. It wasn't until after Dr. couldn't find a vein that I realized why. She didn't know that my dog was in much better shape than she thought. I was unprepared for an abrupt needle that delivered the 'sleep' medicine. My dog took a seizure. Very upsetting to me, as I was expecting a quiet passing. Dog was immediately unresponsive then gone. Dr. was kind enough to explain to me when I called the next day about why the shot needed to be delivered in the manner it was. Perception, I guess. Dr. Salinger completed the task asked of her. She did it well. Very professional, kind lady. She was not familiar with my doggy beforehand and that's on me. Special Lady.

All the veterinary offices were closed here and I was at a loss of what to do. I frantically called out of state for any sort of explanation of what was happening to my cat. This vet in Ohio was so sweet and helped calm me down and reassure me that by my description my cat was okay and was probably stressed out because she was at least responsive. Thank you so much for your help she is doing much better.

We made an appointment and a few days later we brought him in for his first exam to be checked over. I got my checkbook out to pay at the end of the visit. Dr. Allmon and his staff told me they weren't going to charge us for the visit because my son did a good thing. We were amazed. Dr. Allmon and his staff are the kindest people and so good to all of our pets. He is an excellent veterinarian, extremely knowledgeable and honest. He also doesn't overcharge or push unnecessary services. Chardon Veterinary Hospital will always have our business. Love these people!!! Thank you so much.

Dr. Allmon didn't stand to greet me, didn't say hello nor ask me any questions or provide any input. Seemed like staff needed to prompt him to write down things or answer very simple questions. They very quickly gave up on my stray cat who was actually exhibiting entirely manageable behavior saying "they are too old". The cat was not biting nor aggressive, however was lightly growling. Absolutely manageable. When I asked about what age...I got "well he's an adult". Yea....clearly....thanks. Staff were condescending, didn't seem to have compassions for the animal.

I recently went to VCA in the late evening when my cat, Eleanor, was doing very poorly one day…read more The staff was so wonderful - they took our concerns seriously, gave us realistic expectations about the time we would be waiting based on how they triage patients, and were clearly warm and loving with all the pets that came in that night. In my experience, some emergency vets are always on a state of high alert and lose the empathetic aspect of their work serving pets and pet owners who are in a state of worry. If you are taking your pet in right now, due to COVID restrictions, you should know that you will not always be able to go with your pet into a veterinary room, which can be scary. The team did so very gently and clearly took good care of our cat.

Unfortunately, our normal vet could not get us in since it was the end of the week, so we brought…read moreour dog here and our concerns were completely brushed off. Dr. Christine Danish was telling us our dog was "not sick enough to be here" after our dog refused to eat or drink all day, had liquid diarrhea all over the vets office floor that she was dealing with for 3 days already and was visibly in physical pain limping. Dr. Danish's professional opinion was that our dog had a stomach ache and a sprained paw and needed to go home. Coincidentally enough on her discharge paperwork she left a "suspected tick disease" note. However, we were sent home with parasite medication for our pup and a $500 bill. Three days after the initial visit, my dog's health had drastically declined even while closely following the medication schedule we were given. Her breathing was becoming labored and she needed to be carried out of the house as she could barely hold herself up. Expecting to be given the run around again, we were very grateful for Dr. McHenry for quickly diagnosing our dog with Lyme Disease due to her symptoms of limping, diarrhea and refusal to eat. Had we waited any longer to get our dog care, she would have gone into kidney failure. Unfortunately, those three extra days we waited were long enough to have lasting negative effects on our dog's health, making her anemic, prone to chronic joint pain and needing to closely monitor her kidney function for life. This entire week watching my dog's health decline has also taken an emotional toll on myself and my young kids. As upset as I am with our initial visit, I am giving 2 stars since our experience with Dr. McHenry was so pleasant and our pup has been showing visible signs of recovery. Overall, I would not recommend this practice. They did not offer any incentives financially for their initial misdiagnosis, which was very disappointing considering what we've gone through this week at the hands of their misdiagnosis. I would not risk your animal's health or waste your time or money going here.
