Great place! Our dog loves the vet techs and Dr. Taylor. We really enjoy taking our dog here because everyone is so friendly and helpful.

This place looks great at first glance but there is a serious lack of humanity. I witnessed a very worried woman holding her dying dog greeting the doctor in tears saying her world was crashing and he just deadpan responds with "yea. So is (dog's name)." Fees are hidden everywhere. If you're late for your appointment to euthanize your fur baby and ask for a quality of life exam first to reassure yourself you're doing the right thing, it still wont matter. You either euthanize then and there or you'll receive a late fee in addition to the exam charge. Or, you walk in with a sick dog and they charge you not only for the exam but also a walk in fee on top of an emergency fee. Zero communication skills. Concerns are minimized and dismissed with zero accountability or resolution. read more

My grandcat was neutered there and it was a wonderful experience. So when my new little puppy needed her spaying procedure - I drove there (45 minutes away). The staff is wonderful and loving. My little 4-pounder was spoiled with love. Dr Bundy was incredible. The place is immaculate and smells good. They are a well run machine yet you feel like you are the only one there. I hope I don't need them in the future but if I do, I will have complete confidence. read more

At first I really liked this clinic and even recommended them, but after several instances of sub par care, ie. giving saline solution that was not required, missing the vein causing my dog to bloat up in pain, she had to be put down 10 hours after being in their care at the ER Vet. Vaccinations that, because of where they injected it, caused my puppy to go lame, rude behavior when questioned about treatments along with incorrect record keeping resulting in charges I should not have paid for, or treatments that were unnecessary. I read another review stating the same thing "They move to a larger, new facility and now we are having to pay for it with exorbitant and unnecessary charges". I brought my dog in right when they opened because her back legs had gone out. I didn't call because I got there right when they opened. They charged me for a same day appt, an emergency appt, AND a regular office appt. it would have been cheaper for me to go to the ER vet. Bottom line - DO NOT trust your animals to their care. read more

Very happy first visit. From start to finish, caring and listened to our concerns. We saw Dr. Bundy and we really liked her and the staff. She did a thorough examination of our 11 year old lab. I love Dr Tom. He has been truly fabulous in proving care and information for my dog. Unfortunately the other vets are not as high quality. As with some of the vet techs. I was in recently for an emergency visit and first time to see Dr B. Very poor care due to lack of discovery on symptoms. In fact all diagnostics and treatment determined without spending anytime to discuss all symptoms. Left with a treatment plan that wasn't feasible due to ignoring new critical symptom. Would have been easily managed but unfortunately ignored. We sought another vet same day. I'd love to go back to see Dr Tom but would not consider the other vets or some of the techs. Very unfortunate to have outstanding and inadequate care in this location. read more

I love this place and my dog Bama loves it too. Staff is amazing and welcoming and makes us feel at home and cared for. Dr. bundy is Amazing and Breanna (nurse) was also a tremendous help with explaining every question I had about the medicine Bama needs from a allergic reaction. I use to love this place until they kept diagnosing my Yorkie with pancreatitis and not getting to the root cause. I am not one who just slaps a band-aid on my dog's care. When she developed protein in her urine and continued to have high inflammatory markers I knew something was wrong. I stupidly trusted Dr Tom though. I had to push him to recommend her seeing an internal medicine vet before he recommended it. A year later she was diagnosed with Addisons and her body was attacking her pancreas and other gi organs. She needed up getting diagnosed with a liver timer and Dr Barry insisted I euthanize her right there when I was by myself. Her internal med vet did confirm the tumor but it wasn't cancerous and we were able to keep her comfortable for 4 more months. Every weigh in Dr Tom told me that I would have to euthanize her if she got to a certain weight even though she was still walking and engaged with life. Our internal med vet was the one I turned to for support during the hard and impossible time. This summer I had called for an appointment for my other dog and explained I had started a new job and couldn't get out to Madison till 5. He was non-stop coughing and he needed looked at. I received an appointment that day saying his appointment was canceled due to appointments at 5 being wellness visits only. The secretary was extremely nasty. I've never been treated like that before. That phone call was the last straw and made me switch. My dog deserves so much better that Dr Tom and his staff. read more

I have been going to this vet when his father was there it is hard to get an immediate appointment but we'll worth it I hope they hire more vets to help out. But they are good and you won't break the bank by going there. Staff is friendly and really concerned about my babies read more

I will never go back to this vet! She tried to euthanize our dog when he didn't need it! We brought our dog in for loss of appetite and bathroom issues. Originally the vet ( Dr. Alexandria Barry) checked his vitals and told us that everything looked good and sent us home with prednisone. However, our dog was still having issues so we brought him back in. When we did so, Dr Barry ran blood work and informed us that he was suffering from liver failure. She told us that we need to euthanize him immediately and that she should not even let us leave the building. She said that he was in severe pain and when we told her we wanted to bring him home (because we did not feel like he was in pain and we wanted time to say goodbye) she refused to give him anything to make him comfortable because she thought he was too far gone. She judged his pain off of taking him in the back without us and he was uncomfortable when she pressed on his stomach even after we informed her that he was an older dog and is snappy when ANYONE new touches him, let alone pressing on him. As soon as we brought him home he went to the bathroom and was jumping and running around like he was fine, which is a behavior a suffering dog would not possess. We called back a couple times and the staff and vet were very cold towards us and showed no compassion, both on the phone and in the office. We decided to take him to two other vets to get a second opinion and they both said he definitely did not need to be put down that day and he was not in active liver failure. We provided them with the SAME blood work that Dr. Barry took and assessed and they both said that Dr. Barry's eagerness to euthanize our dog was extremely excessive and gave us medications to try and see if it will help his liver. They took an X ray and told us this medication has the possibility to solve the problem and give him the potential to have a full recovery. Dr. Barry's lack of compassion and resistance to at least make our dog comfortable was very unprofessional. She disregarded the information we gave her that combated her diagnosis and tried to euthanize our dog THAT DAY when two other vets with the same information said that was extremely unnecessary. Please consider this if you decide to bring you pet to this veterinary office. read more

I'm delighted with the service I've been receiving from the Madison Veterinary Hospital. I have alot of fur babies, and each of them is like a child to me. The staff at Madison Veterinary Hospital always makes me feel like by babies are part of their family too; caring for them with exceptional compassion and knowledge. From routine vaccinations to surgical procedures, Dr. Tom is thorough in explaining everything to me and making sure that I am comfortable before anything is done. Further, the prices are quite reasonable, and there are no surprises at checkout. They are happy to give estimates and explain the billing before procedures are scheduled. This place is fantastic they are super friendly and this vet as been in business for over 35 years. I take both of my dogs here and I refer all my friends here. The vet here is Dr. Gregory Faulker he is a great guy who is not in it for the money he really cares about the animals. When I take my dogs in it is usually around $40 total for the two of them. He is also willing to right heartworm scripts for it to be purchased online, a lot of vets will not do this because they want to charge you way more for the same thing that you can get online for half price. read more

My cat developed a UTI in a matter of hours. I called almost all the Vets between Madison & Saybrook. But not one would take my cat. One Vet even said it would be 6 weeks before they would see him. He would have been dead way before then. I got ahold of the folks here at Madison Vet Hospital. Explained everything. They got us right in. Dr Deak and her staff were awesome. My kitty was a sleep before we were done with the paper work. The wonderful Dr herself called to let me know how my cat was doing twice. They saved my cats life. I won't go anywhere else. Thank you very much to the receptionist ladies.. And Thank You to Dr Deak and her staff for getting my cat taken care of so quickly. had a cat with a serious infected swelling eye. I call for appointment and was first told you can be seen in one week. I explained that the cat had a serious eye infection. I was put on hold then told you can be seen at 3:00. I drive 30 miles one way only to be told no your appointment is not today but not until next Friday I explain but the receptionist put me on hold and changed it to this Friday at 3:00. I was told no I was not told that. Then another girl said well if you pay an additional $50 on top of the $45 office visit they could see cat. Talking it over with family who had to wait in car I went back in. I asked how long the wait will be. The office girl goes to back and out walks the almighty Dr Tom and starts lecturing me about treating his staff badly and yelling at them. I said I did not yell at them but I was upset about my sick cat. He said well if you don't like it leave so I left. Never once was there concern for the sick cat and then to lecture a senior citizen in front of other customers in front office. He could of used his lecture time to look at the sick cat. Well just goes to show that vet is only concerned about MONEY. read more

It seems every other time we have had to go or get something from them there was an issue. They either charged for the wrong item, gave us the wrong dosage for his weight or some other billing issue. I guess it's good the first time we went they made a mistake so I have been watching them.They refuse to share his information with Chewy.com. I guess they believe if they stop me from getting his meds through them I will continue paying their inflated prices. The receptionist wouldn't let me speak to the office manager to sort out the issue we were having. She also has gave us wrong information about his meds so they had to call back. read more

We took my cat with a bulging, puss filled, painful eye to see the vet. We called and setup the emergency appointment yesterday. When we got there today we were told our "emergency appointment " wasn't till a week later. If we wanted the vet to see out suffering cat today it would be an additional $50. Nobody looked at the cat or considered his pain and suffering. It was all about the money. Then the vet had the unprofessionalism to tell my mid 60s mother that she was upsetting his staff. Again no consideration for the cat. We drove 30 minutes to the vets office because we were guaranteed an appointment today( after calling yesterday). Totally unprofessional. Why not look at the suffering animal? How long could it possible take? I guess it's all about financing the new building they are moving into. Rude staff, rude doctor. Doctor annoyed with questions I have for my dog with glaucoma. The staff refuses to make a simple phone call or fax over a prescription... instead they force you to go buy stamps and envelopes and send a prescription in the mail if you want to buy medication online. My dog needs medication for the rest of her life and the medication is around $100 at the vet and only $20 online for the same exact product. I can't afford the vet price and who could? So they make it difficult for you to get it online and make it clear they are annoyed that you won't pay $100 to get it from them. I called to find a different vet and the first one I called said they would be glad to fax or call in prescriptions. read more

They might have been fantastic and friendly in the past (referring to older review), but Dr. Faulkner needs to seriously consider retiring. If all you need is a simple vaccination or spay/neuter it may be ok, but if your pet has a health issue PLEASE take them somewhere with modern facilities and equipment that will perform a thorough exam. If all you want is a vet who walks in and sticks your pet with a shot of "cure all" antibiotic this is the place, otherwise find somewhere else. My cat is on death's door because we did not get the answers we needed there, but is in much better hands now and we're hoping for the best - don't make the same mistake we did! I just hope it's not too late for our pet. Beyond that, the staff are not particularly friendly (one in particular seems to have a sour attitude). The vet tech can't answer any questions, stating he is not a doctor, and doesn't make any effort to find out or get the doctor to address your questions/concerns. They never call to check on your animal after you walk out the door. I don't think they have any computers, so there is no itemized statement of what procedures were performed, meds given or costs. All I get is the credit card receipt showing the total. I don't do many reviews, so you know I feel strongly about this. I'm not just trying to bash their business.
