Krazy Kibbie Friday, , yes only on Friday it's all Joe's fault got me the drive way out there for this outrageous treat. Explosion of flavor each bite I devour 1/2 along with much more. Kousa haven't had this in 2 year's be hollowed out baby Italian squash stuffed with Lamb, Beef n Rice OMG such deliciousness. The outside of the building might not look like much and the tiny parking lot is inconvenient, but never judge a book by its' cover. Their meat pies, grapeleaves, baba ghanouj, lentil salad, and spinach feta pies are just some of the delicious staples worth purchasing. I'm a big fan of Beirut Bakery. I've been in several times since my first visit, and staff is always super friendly and helpful. I have yet to take advantage, but there is a sign that says "Don't be shy, if you want to try it, just ask!" So far, I've only had the opportunity to get their hummus, pita, garlic dip, cheese bread & Zaatar bread. I'm itchin' to try more. I have never been disappointed. I called ahead today for 4 bags of their party pita because I know they go quickly. I was sad to find out that they don't make cheese bread on the weekends because they don't want to have it sitting out for too long. She told me if I know I'm coming in on a Saturday and need it, to call on Friday & they will put some aside for me. I bought the Zaatar & cheese bread the other day. Both are great, especially warm & dipped in their garlic sauce. The Zaatar bread is a blend of olive oil, thyme, sumac & sesame seeds on a pita crust. (ETA) Today, I also tried this dessert they had at the counter. It was $1.89 for 2 squares packaged together. I have no idea what the name of it is, and she didn't give me a name. I'm confident I probably can't pronounce it or spell it, although I'd love to recommend it. She said it was a wheat cake w/ syrup & sugar. There are three almond slivers on the top as well. I really liked it. It was different. I liked the texture, the slight hint of spice (again, I have no idea what it was), and of course the sugar. I'm a big fan of sugar. While I'm on the topic of dessert, they do have nicely packaged trays of Lebanese pastries on top of the counter. When I was there last time, the other customer in the bakery followed me out & was driving behind me. Whatever it was, he could not wait to eat it because he was eating it in the parking lot, and in his car behind me. It must've been darn good & he must've been really hungry! I am intrigued by some of the Lebanese groceries they offer. They have several spices & lentils, including sumac. They also bottle their fattoush dressing. It's good to know I don't have to travel far to get something like that if I wanted to. By the way, Whole Foods & Plum Market sell the cheese & Zaatar bread in W. Bloomfield for $3.49 (I believe...it's over $3 for sure). It's 1/3 of the cost at Beirut Bakery. I realize the mark-up is a given at those stores, or any store for that matter, but that's a big difference! If you're not close to Beirut Bakery, it's worth it. Otherwise get your booty to Beirut Bakery & buy it directly from them. Plus, they have small & large pita crusts, whereas the stores only sell the large ones. read more

Beirut bakery is a definate gem. Everytime I pass through the west side i am hard pressed not to pull off the express way or scream bloody murder till the driver exits. Not only does Beirut have a wide variety of specialty groceries like pignoles, sumac, spices and oil, but they also have the most delicious treats under glass. The list of items goes on. Sphehas, meat pies, spinach pie, chicken kibbee, lamb kibbee, stuffed grape leaves, rice pilaf, tabouli, hummus, falafel, green beans and tomatoes, zatar bread, cheese bread, pisachio nests are all very fresh and prepared on site. My favorite is catching the zatar bread still steaming up the bag. Big ups to Beirut Bakery. Stop in and drop a couple bucks with these folks, pretty sure you'll be back. read more

Holy moly! After years of living pretty close to this place, I cannot believe I've never stopped in before. This place is the HOLY GRAIL of all things Lebanese/Middle Eastern. IMHO, it beats out several of the most famous bakeries in East Dearborn! I stopped in here today and was given exceptionally friendly service. Everything was priced reasonably. I got a huge cheese bread, a pint of lentil soup, and a baklava for 6.77. Not bad considering it is enough food for two meals!! Cheese Bread- 5 stars all the way. So yummy! Slightly sweet dough that worked really well with the cheese. Normally, it seems that the cheese is the highlight of the bread and the dough is an afterthought...not here! Lentil Soup- 5 out of 5. So delicious, thick, and tangy, just like I love it! Baklava- I got the pistachio kind. 5 out of 5=] I may have to make this a weekly thing!! read more

Tasty arab baked goods & food, at great prices. My friends mom raved about this place so I had to try it. Really friendly people there. Their manaeesh/fatayar taste great, awesome bread and flavorful toppings. Pita bread is great. Had the meat grape leaves too, and they stock yogurt and lebnea, pretty convenient. Great bakery! This is a great place to purchase Mediterranean food by the pound and its awesomely delicious. I eat a lot of veggies and hummus and mostly have to find a restaurant that sells it and it can get to expensive. The prices here are great. I've lived in Redford my whole life but just started going to Beirut Bakery about 5 years ago and couldn't believe I had missed out on this all of these years. I promise if you go there it will brighten up your whole day! The food is phenomenal. Best shwarma around. The fattoush salad with chicken is so big it will feed two people. This really is a hidden gem in kind of the middle of nowhere. They sell bottles of their salad dressing in the store so I brought One to work a while ago . This is my new favorite place to eat by my house, hands down. I got a chicken shawarma, pita bread and garlic dip. I don't know why some people say it's pricey because for all of that I paid $8 and I'm not complaining at all. The shawarma hit the spot and I couldn't even finish it all because I was so full. My family has been eating food from Beirut for about 17 years now and we are never disappointed. The food is always fresh and filling. Why the 5 stars ? Well I grew up eating chicken shawarma in the middle east every summer vacation for 5 years and always craved for "that" shawarma over the other types sold over here by state side. I have to admit that this place is among the very few places that comes close to the mouth watering street food I miss here. I ordered food to serve at a bridal shower this past Saturday. The food is delicious and so plentiful. I received many compliments and will certainly cater from here in the future. I had someone else pick up the food for me. When they arrived to my home, I was missing 6 lbs of hummus. I called the bakery hoping to receive a credit for another time. They insisted on sending someone right out with it. We are in South Lyon so this was quite a drive. What fantastic customer service! I can't thank them enough. Very sweet staff and good salads and sandwiches, but more expensive than regular Middle Eastern restaurants. Beef shawarma $5.99 per sandwich where normally other places sell it for $3.99 or max $4.99. Salads are sold by the pound not by sizes. Way over staffed, that's a good thing. read more
