Well, the family is nice. Food was just fair. I hoped for a much better experience, but flavors are Americanized. This is one wonderful ethnic cuisine that should not be watered down. Absolutely delicious. The food is so amazing and authentic. Suggestions: get the baba ghannouj, the mixed shawarma plate, sojok, shish tawook, and chicken lemon rice soup. Get the platter of baklava and spilt it with friends- it comes with 4-5 different varieties and is a wonderful shared experience. The baklava is a bit heavy on the rose water, if you don't like rose water then you won't enjoy it as much. I loved it! It should be mentioned that cleanliness is not their strong suit. The bathrooms are dirty, the tables are not cleaned off quickly, and you eat on styrofoam and plastic utensils. Not great for the environment. read more

The food was excellent and the service was even better. The portions were more than generous. I had the mixed grill that included chicken and beef the seasoning was excellent. I ate here on a layover about a year ago, and it was good. Not super great today... :-/ Service was weak... sat there a while before anyone waited on me. A waitress in a hijab walked right by, and didn't even look at me. Finally, the owner (?) came out, apologized profusely, and took my order. I had the spinach pie & hummus w/ Sojuk appetizers. The spinach pies were soggy and "bready"... I'll probably skip it in the future. I prefer a crisp Greek Spanakopita. The hummus w/ Sojuk was good. I had this last time, too. VERY good. Delicious! Everything fresh, tasty, and perfectly seasoned. My husband got the appetizer platter and loved absolutely everything on it. He & I both agree that the baba ghanouj was particularly on point- smoky, smooth, garlicky perfection. My teens got the chicken shawarmas and fully endorsed them as tasty, especially the garlic sauce. I got the large Greek salad and it was HUGE! I was sure that a small would not be enough- given the price I thought it surely had to be more of a side salad- and boy was I wrong! House dressing (a vinaigrette) was nicely balanced and all veggies were fresh & crisp. Top it off with friendly, fast service and excellent prices (at least compared to CO), this place is a winner. Terrible service. Went to their website to place an order for delivery and was directed to their delivery service called "Eat Street." After 1.5 hours, I contacted the restaurant and they stated that they received the order but didn't prepare the food yet. My family and I are going to bed hungry. Was just through town. I was told to call Eat Street for refund, but Eat Street is only available via email. I hope to get a refund. read more

We lodged at a hotel near Beirut restaurant. Tired of eating burgers and fries, we gave it a try and it was a hidden gem. Their vegetarian grape's leaves appetizer was detectable. The grilled lamp chops were superb because there were no gamey taste. The side salad was fresh and an entree portion. I got tasteless pressed chicken parts instead of marinated chicken breast, overcooked soggy rice instead of fries and less than average garlic sauce. One was a garlic sauce and one a sort of thick Greek yogurt tzkiki (sp) type. Also have good rice pudding and baklava. No doubt impressed although I ended up spending almost $70 on lunch for two. We went all out but that is still on the expensive side. It is made up for by the quality and quantity combined. I'm giving four stars instead of five because of presentation and being SLIGHTLY over priced in my opinion... The restaurant on the outside does not look welcoming. It's older and run down looking a bit. The inside is also older and cheaply decorated. They need new tables and booths that are bigger. We stopped here because it was super close to the airport, and after a long flight it seemed like a decent choice. We were seated right away, but that was the only quick thing about the place. I ordered just Tabouli and a large hummus. My husband ordered a chicken shawarma. The two women working were disinterested in taking care of the customers. There were quite a few tables seated but not a lot of service going on. We had to ask for a water three times, and then they brought out only one for the two of us. It took about ten minutes before our order was taken, and then another 25 minutes for my salad and hummus to be brought out. But my husband was told his food would be up shortly. Another 25 minutes went by and finally my husband went to the counter to ask to cancel his portion. They argued with him, saying they were just about to cook it. It had been 50 minutes or more since we placed the simple order and they had not even started his order. No water for him, no food for him. Best Middle Eastern food we had in Michigan! We traveled to meet up with friends and tried several Middle Eastern Restaurants. We lived in the Middle East and really missed the food. This is kind of a romance story. We landed in Detroit and went seeking food, but it was right near the airport all along. On our last day we stayed near the airport and called for a delivery order. We ordered a mixed grill, Labneh, and extra hummus. It was all great, and the lavash (bread) was right too, not pita. We are looking forward to our next trip to Detroit because of Beirut! read more
