I was craving Mediterranean food on my way to the airport. This gem of a restaurant named Beirut Restaurant was my lunch destination before my flight. I met Amneh on Monday afternoon, her attitude and her knowledge of the menu made ordering a breeze. My son watched as I ate Mixed Shawarma: which consisted of lean beef and marinated chicken. The sauce was a great addition. I almost forgot the Fattouch which I ate before my meal. The unique mixture of flavors created a desirable mood. This restaurant is definitely on my list to visit in Detroit. Thank You to Amneh, and her food selections. Also for loving what she does. We happened to randomly stop at this plaza for the subway next door, but I saw the menu in their window and knew I wanted to try this instead. I was greeted at the register by a very helpful gal who suggested I get the chicken schwarma dinner with hummus and tabouli. IT WAS FABULOUS!! Even my hubby, who previously has not cared for Mediterranean food, kept his subway in the bag and helped me chow down all the food!! The hummus was creamy, the tabouli was fresh and the chicken was perfect. In fact we are going there again when we fly in! It will probably be my go to restraunt when travel!! read more

Like many of the other reviewers, we happened upon Beirut while staying near the Detroit airport. It is probably the best Middle Eastern restaurant we have ever experienced, and my family likes this type of food. The efficient and helpful waitress said they could prepare the dinner for two for any number, so we ordered it for three, the lone vegetarian in our party preferring to order separately, though trying some of the items on our platter. So. Much. Food. And the quality was even higher than the quantity. We ate so much that we had to take the baklava (and you have to have the baklava!) to go. Even the rice, which is only background most places, was delicious and buttery. Everything was fresh, down to the pistachios on the baklava. The fattoush salad that came with the dinner was enormous and delicious. Don't be misled by the location in a small, dingy strip mall; once you're in the door you're in gourmet heaven. read more

This is hands down my absolute favorite middle eastern restaurant in the metro Detroit area. The food is is the best! Great choices include the salmon salad, chicken livers, and shish tawook platters. Entrees come with a heaping portion of rice or fries and soup or a side salad. My absolute favorite meals are the Beirut salad with chicken and the house fries with garlic sauce, which are to die for. The house salad dressing is so good that I always buy extra to eat on a salad at home later. This is a great restaurant choice if you're eating Paleo or Whole30. The restaurant is family owned and operated by 2 brothers and the staff always offer a special personal touch. Located in a strip mall just north of the airport makes it totally convenient to guests of all the major hotels and those returning home from a trip. I don't eat Middle Eastern food very often, but this place will sure have me coming back! I ordered the Appetizer Platter which comes with hummus, grape leaves, salad and baba ghanouj. Fabulous and excellent portion! It's definitely more than one meal if you don't finish it at once. The garlic paste is very garlic-y and potent but so good and you can eat it with absolutely everything on your plate. Was staying at one of the airport hotels and was looking by for a quick meal. The Beirut hit the spot. Had the crushed lentil soup to start and it was very flavorful and nicely spiced. Perfect on a cool fall afternoon. I also had the chicken Gallaya sandwich which came highly recommended. It was the perfect blend of chicken, veggies and rice with a nice sauce to tie it all together. Friendly service and convenient to the airport hotels. read more

Ordered 2 items on Uber Eats for delivery to our Hotel. Entree was a mixed Schwarma plate to share and baklava for desert. The order was delivered in about 30 minutes, not bad for a busy time in the evening... That was the good news. Shortly after it arrived, and we unpacked it, we realized they had not included the baklava. Decided to eat the entrée while it was still hot.. The mixed Shawarma plate consisted of grilled chicken, beef, a rice mix and choice of salad. The beef was kind of gristly and tough in places. Chicken was fine, but both were over spiced, making a very strong almost acidic flavor. The rice was great, and the mixed salad was pretty nice with shredded lettuce, tomato and cucumber. The bad is that about five hours after eating dinner, we both got acidreflux big time, followed by symptoms of food poisoning... Alternating trips to the toilet for vomiting, etc. made for lousy night airport hotel. We had called the restaurant to tell them about the missing baklava. They did recognize the fact that it had not been included, and wanted to know if we'd like to come over and pick some up. Alternatively, they said they could send Uber eats over with some, which would have taken another half hour, after we were done with dinner. Do yourself a favor and skip this place, particularly if you don't want to get sick! read more

It's hard to find decent Middle Eastern food. I was in Detroit for business and stuck at a hotel, and didn't want hotel food. I was able to order via a delivery service, and the food was good. The babaganoush was too vinegar-y, which is a shame, as that's my fav dish ever, but overall, decent Lebanese food. read more

The chicken shawarma is NOT halal (among other things) and they don't bother to tell you! Lots of people dine here because they eat halal food and not let them know what they're eating is not halal is wrong. Just spend the extra $.10/lb to get the halal chicken for you clients!! read more

The restaurant is in a strip mall. So we weren't expecting nothing too great. Boy were we wrong. Not only was everything we got fresh and delicious. But the staff was extremely friendly as well. They leave the water on the table, which was a plus to us ( we love our water). The salads were very fresh, tasted like they just cut it all up in the back. Same great food for a reasonable price but the service during lunch the past 2 visits have been very disappointing. Once you enter and get seated, no one comes around for at least 10 minutes. Not sure if they've been under staffed the past few weeks or if it's just a lunch time issue but the past 2 times have been exactly the same. Instead of greeting customers and providing service, they're too busy yelling and arguing with each other behind the counter in front of guests. Maybe management needs to work on teaching their servers how to provide better service. The food gets a 4 star but the service gets 2 stars. read more

So on our way to the airport heading to Las Vegas we noticed this place. There were 4 or us and we were pretty hungry. We know we had at least a 4 hour flight ahead of us so we decided to stop in here. Holy!!!! The food was incredible. I ordered chicken shawarma on humus. It came with fries and a soup, I ordered lentil soup as a side. This was just incredible. The other 3 people in my group ordered a salad as part of their chicken combos and they were so impressed. The salads were large and very tasty. The garlic sauce was just delightful. Every single bite was delish. The server was lovely. Smiling and offered suggestions. Staying at a nearby hotel and decided to walk down for takeout. Got the appetizer platter so I could try several different dishes. The hummus and baba ghannouj were delicious, as was the tabbouli. Falafel and grape leaves were average, but the other items more than made up for it. I added the restaurant made feta, which was good, but it added $3 to the bill. The server, Juliana, told me to get the lamb soup and when she brought it said, "if you've had better soup than this, I'd like to know where". Man, was she right. If you go here, you MUST get a bowl- or three. The food is fantastic, and Julianna was one of the most sweet, caring ladies I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.
