The second visit in 6 months, gave the waitress the benefit of the doubt as she was new-- had the same server, never received appetizers or drinks, food brought out a dish at a time- my entire table was finished before my filet came back-- only 1 steak knife given to the table -- had to go to the bar to ask for our drinks and to make sure our appetizer was taken off our invoice. No manager around or if there was no regard for the $120 on dinner that offered nothing of previous experience- not any apologies from wait staff as to order that was mangled. We are local customers that have given this establishment several tries, this last experience shows that no one truly cares about their experience or if a customer will return. After driving an hour, upon arrival the host told us that he had to decline our reservation because he only had one server. Even though there was not one guest in the restaurant. My spouse and I made dinner reservations online 3 weeks in advance for 11 Nov 22, as it's 1.5 hour drive for us. When we showed up they were closed. Called 3 times and they never answered and you couldn't leave a message. It's understandable to have issues come up that require closure but the least you could do is let those with reservations know. We won't try to go back though we are in the area often. fantastic!! started with the Queijo de Cabra Gratinado com Mel e Nozes, or the fig-infused goat cheese. I highly recommend the "on the stone" dinners. My mother in law and I split the surf and turf and it was just enough. We finished the meal off with their lemon cake and it was perfectly moist. We popped in here for Sunday Happy Hour (which they have everyday 3-6pm!) to grab a few glasses of wine before dinner, but we wish we had stayed for the food! Definitely planning on returning--the menu was full of compelling options, at great prices. Gabe, our server/bartender, was very helpful and showed my wife and I some of the house infused spirit (ginja--traditional in Portugal). Loved the atmosphere too, good lighting and music--we could hear traditional Fado over the speakers. I have been coming to this restaurant for a long time and I have never had any issues. This time was different, I took my daughter for her birthday and we were very disappointed. There was one person working with 3 tables. He catered to one particular table while walking past ours numerous times. We came so that she could cook her food on the hot stones, while ordering we were told that there were not enough stones for everyone. Gabe stated that he did have 3. When the food came out only 1 hot stone waa brought out and not one for the birthday girl. I brought in a frozen cake that I was told could not be put in the freezer which was fine but it could go in the fridge. Went here for dinner and had a nice experience. The parking is a little confusing, but you can basically park on the street or in some spots next to and behind the restaurant. It allows parking for patrons of that building. I had two glasses of wine and the Ossobuco. It was all delicious and the ambiance was nice. What a nice surprise! We have Portuguese restaurant in Chattanooga! My daughter and me we just treated my husband with a big birthday gift by ordering food from this place! We really enjoyed the meal. I can say it is pricy and I am not sure if we can eat there that often but for sure would like to taste a couple more meals from the menu. May be we can have a Yelp event there? All desserts items look so attractive too. My dish is a little over salted for my taste but they probably serve like this. We had originally ordered delivery via Grubhub, however due to a horrendous mistake by Grubhub we had to eventually cancel our order two hours later and did not receive our food. Bela Lisboa went above and beyond and got their staff to deliver our food to us on their own accord. We were truly impressed and touched with their service. The black truffle pasta and shrimp app was especially delicious, as well as the cheesecake and chocolate coffee mousse. What a happy accident! We were trying to get to Indian food but traffic was insane downtown and we ended up on the Market Street Bridge and in Northside, so it was time to find someplace to eat. Yelp helped! With good reviews we headed straight to Bela Lisboa and coudn't have been more pleased. It was early on Friday night so we had our choice of seating. All the tables have these strange racks that hold skewers of food if that is your choice from the menu. The Food: We started dinner with 2 appetizers, Little Neck Clams and Fig Infused Goat Cheese. Both were delicious (a little heavy on the lemon in the clam sauce) and it started the teenagers off on a wonderful gastrojourney. Thing 1 ordered the Octopus Lagareiro. Never having had octopus before I was a little worried he might not like it so I offered to trade him if he hated it. HE DIDN'T! He really loved it and was just disappointed it didn't come whole...c'mon, he's a teenage boy, they're weird. Thing 2 ordered the Seared Duck Breast. She, also, had never had her chosen entree and she loved it, although, for her, it was a little rich and she couldn't eat it all. Perfectly cooked, the bite I had was delicious and perfectly cooked. I MUST get the recipe for their polenta...it was amazing! The husband had the Fruits of the Sea of loved every bite and especially the lobster tomato sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed the Ahi Tuna on the stone. Served on a hot lava stone with three lovely sauces, I was able to sear it to perfection. Lovely. We had just enough room to share 2 pieces of their Portuguese Lemon Cream Pie between the 4 of us and it was fabulous. Took a friend for her birthday last night and was quite surprise! The food was delicious and the service was amazing! We had a waiter that was very friendly and as others ordered off the menu and he pasted by our table we would stop and ask what dish is that and he gave us details about any dish we wanted to know. We had to wait one hour for our food which we weren't informed about the wait since all food is prepared fresh. The food even though said is fresh wasn't tasty at all. She is the reason for 2 stars instead of 4. Service was friendly and the appetizers were extremely good. Highly recommend the goat cheese and also the clams! Main dishes were a unique experience with the hot stones and skewers hanging at your table. Food was simple but nice. One exception would be the paella. This should be renamed 'Seafood and Rice'. This is a nice presentation with the raised copper bowl but the dish is bland with rice soggy from the seafood broth instead of the traditional hint of crispness and no saffron or any hint of other traditional seasoning. Desserts were really good. Lemon cream pie was excellent. Hopefully the wine list will expand. Overall a novel experience with decent interactive food choices. We tried a serving of octopus on skewer, which was very good. My husband got the surf and turf on hot stone, and the steak, and shrimp is so far some of the best we've had in Chattanooga. The presentation of both the skewer, and hot stone was very neat, and is a great dining experience if you have friends, and family in town, and would like to give them an original experience.
