Exam room. Waiting for our doctor.

Belair vet clinic exceeded my expectations. The service was excellent and the staff clearly loves pets. My dog was nervous at first but became calm after meeting Dr. Roller. They even gave him a treat. The facility has a traditional appearance and charges upfront for phone appointments, which I don't agree with I understood. The staff is well adjusted to many of there per patient's. That makes me happy. The inside is clean and inviting. The doctor patiently answered all our questions and took care of our dog. She even followed up with an additional recommendation two days later. We've found our dog's forever doctor and we're happy.

They did what they could and took bloodwork that would be in the next day, but later that same day he passed on his own, which obviously was very hard on us. When Dr Seddon called the next day with the bloodwork, he explained it was very indicative that he more than likely had a tumor on his pancreas because of how low his blood sugar was and there was no way to cure that. He also said he was quite positive that he wasn't suffering during this time at all, which meant a lot! The cremation was handled so amazingly and even included a paw print. I am not typically a fan of conventional vets, but Dr Seddon is a top-notch, compassionate, exceptional conventional vet that has always been a go between for my 3 chihuahuas when something urgent comes up and I can't make it out to the holistic vet (Healing Paws). He has worked on Nico and Roxie, my other two dogs several times for issues and been super helpful! His whole staff is top-notch and compassionate! I truly love Bowie Towne Vet and am so appreciative I have such an outstanding vet practice so close to home. I wrote all of this with tears over the loss of our sweet little boy, but also mixed with tears of joy of appreciation for having such an amazing vet location that was so supportive and helpful during this hard time.

I wish I would have caught it sooner for me to bypass some unneeded emotional damage. Once I finally did pick up on the signs I immediately looked for a nearby vet. But on a Sunday, there aren't many open. My choices were two emergency vets that were equal distances away. As you can see, I chose this one. On my way here, I was all in my emotions and almost bypassed the building. Luckily for me, I caught it at the last minute and whipped around. When I went in there was no hesitation about being seen. They are a digital establishment. Scan the QR code, fill in your information, and wait to be seen. I sat in the waiting room for what felt like an eternity, but we all feel that way in a time of need. Finally a vet tech came to see me and ask what was going on. I started to talk and only broke down instead. I was escorted in a room and they took my cat for a set of vitals. I was at that point where I thought she was attempting to cross that rainbow bridge. Instead, after the vitals and some talking to the vet, it was decided as to what was going on. I also want to thank them for being upfront with information. I was informed that they already know what it is and a course of treatment or I could spend a lot more money to do tests and come to the same conclusion. After a good cry I came to my senses and went with their suggested treatment. This was an emotionally exhausting day. Made a bit better by a good team at this place. My cat, upon returning home, was very lethargic because of the antibiotic and pain medication given. She was out of sorts for a bit, but back to normal within the timeframe quoted by this team.

The staff at Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty were amazing from the moment we walked in. They were extremely thorough while showing such care and concern for Duke. They explained what was happening, were transparent about the cost, and gave an honest assessment of the prognosis for our baby. Dr. S explained our options and gave us time to process everything. She answered all our questions and reassured us that there was no right or wrong way to go. Ultimately, we made the heartbreaking decision to let Duke go and she supported it, agreeing it was the kindest choice given his age, prognosis, and his current state. When I asked her what she would do for her own fur baby given the circumstances, Dr. S was transparent and told us she would do the same. That gave us a small bit of comfort that we weren't rushing into it prematurely. Dr. S gave us referrals to a few vets who could come to our home to help us with Duke's final care. We chose Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice, who were equally wonderful during such a horrible time. We appreciate all of the staff at Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty, from the folks at the front desk to the nurses and doctors. There were small things that I appreciated... when they brought our baby to us, they put down a plush blanket so he could be comfortable and not laying directly on the floor. Also, right before we left, one of the nurses even came in to say goodbye to Duke and tell him he was a sweet boy. She loved on him and that small gesture will always stick with me. I thank everyone for showing such love and support during one of the most difficult times in my family's life. I would absolutely recommend Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty to anyone needing care for their fur baby.

This was a regualr check up, I wanted…read moremy dog to be in care of a veterinary near me, connected with my dog and very happy to take on the care of my dog. I wanted both my dog and I to know we have a veterinarywho cares. The front desk staff at Veterinary Housecall were so kind to squeeze me in for my dog's appointment, I had gotten the time mixed up but looking back I believe they should have told me to come back, bc they set aside a solid hour to look at all pets and get to know him, I was not aware of that, being a new dog mom. As it were, the visit was rushed and anxiety built up with my dog being apart from me, alone, with strangers. I felt uncomfortable to let him go into another room for his examination. Come to find out, my dog had matting on his tail, ears and around his groin area. The doctor came in after my dog's examination and said she was going to shave him because of matting, I have him groomed but not close for discomfort. The assistant and I comforted my dog as the vet did the shaving it took about 10 minutes but I felt rushed and my dog had severe shaving burns on his private area, lower tail area and top of his head. It looked as though my dog was a completely different dog and in pain. She didn't give advice for medication of antibiotic or advice on a compress...nothing. I had to Google what the vet should have suggested or advised. He spent most of the night crying and not able to be comfortable bc of the redness in the areas shaved. It was a terrible thing for him with no relief from Vetenary Housecall. Another issue was the billing person who was very rude after I was prepared to spend $80, as was told to me, the first regular visit is to be, when I made the appointment but it escalated when the doctor shaved him, in which I was not aware that she would at that time. The billing person walked in and was extremely unpleasant, this person lashed out, then mentioned to me, that person was not informed by the staff of the visit type and assumed it was for shaving my dogs tail matting and I was there for that purpose of shaving my dog and did not want to pay. That was so terrible in that assumption. I called this morning and the front desk duo were understanding of my dogs pain but not willing to help with medication unless I sent over pictures of the redness in the groin and tail areas. I am so fed up with that whole business. In this experience, I must say, I did not do my due diligence with regards to looking for a more caring owner/pet veterinary facility. I thought of closeness and familiarity within the community rather than the caring attention, communication and quality veterinary care for my dog and for me bc us pet parents deserve all of that. My advice, as a new dog owner, ask neighbors who have pets, ask people at dog parks and just know your pet and being an owner of all pets do deserve the very best care and gentle treatment as our children do.

My extremely large 110lb (scary) German Shepherd was nothing but a big teddy bear and other practices would be too nervous to treat him. My German Shepherd, Duke has been put through the ringer in the last couple years. One day I returned home from work to find Duke not being able to use his rear legs, a quick call to Highway - they got me in immediately and referred me out to a specialist which added FOUR YEARS to his life! From (2) knee surgeries-TPLO, open leg wound, spine surgery, and a severe spine infection, the staff at Highway were there all the way. Recently, my wife and I had to put Duke to sleep due to the complications of a severe lung infection and leukemia. Prior to deciding what course of action is to be taken, I was given options, prices, and the outlooks for each course of action. And when it was time to say goodbye for the last time, I was surrounded by all the people that made his last few years of life THE BEST he could have asked for. Duke has been to this practice numerous times and was loved by all the staff and for a "big scary dog" that's all you can ask for is for staff to treat him with the respect provide the care he deserves. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone with any age pet, regardless of their size, or temperament their staff is trained to handle them all.
