As of June 2021, everything is done by phone. Appointments are made via phone. Receptionists are super helpful. Check ins done via phone. Call when you arrive. Receptionist asks you questions. The techs/ technicians / assistants pick up your pet in the parking lot. They call you back for check out and payment. Please understand the difference between a vet visit and a tech visit. If your pet has a check up with the veterinarian he/she will call you to discuss your pet. Remain in the parking lot. If your pet is there for a tech visit (e.g. for a follow up shot, vaccine, etc.), no one will discuss your pet with you. Tech visits are much quicker. Also. Don't be afraid to ask how much you are going to pay for that vaccine or whatever. Also. Nails trimming is $20 for a tech visit. If it comes with the vet check up, it will be $14. Bel Air Animal Hospital likely killed my dog. Owen was brought in because he was coughing, struggling to breathe, vomiting, lethargic, and rapidly deteriorating from an apparent allergic reaction to meds given by this vet. Per their notes, they administered something for nausea, then sent him home. Six hours later, the emergency hospital ;(a different facility) diagnosed him with pneumonia. Less than 24 hours after leaving Bel Air Animal Hospital, he was dead. I can't help but question how such a serious condition was missed. Owen's care fell far below the standard I expected, and I will always wonder whether recognizing his pneumonia sooner could have saved his life. If your pet is clearly getting worse and your instincts tell you something is wrong, don't hesitate to get a second opinion. I only wish we had. I love you Owen, rest easy my boy. read more

In 2021, my dog Bear lost use of his rear legs. I was desperately seeking resources. Dr. Murphy, a friend of a friend, heard about Bear's situation and reached out to help. He was so incredibly kind and supportive as Bear went through surgery and post surgery. Within two months he was walking again (thank you VOSM - Veterinary Orthopedic Sports Medicine). As a result, because Dr Murphy practiced at Belair Veterinary Hospital, I began bringing Bear to Belair. For the first year, service was great because Dr Murphy was our vet. Then, sadly, he left and with it, good service. Since then, it has been a series of miscommunications, poor care, poor management and in the end, a veterinary hospital chain more concerned with its bottom line than good veterinary care. DO NOT USE THIS PRACTICE IF YOU LOVE YOUR DOG! Please note the comment below from their manager Peter. This is the kind of unprofessional lack of accountability typical of this business at this point. I was not abusive with anyone on their staff. Sadly, asking questions that seek to explain their business practices leads to agitated incomplete answers, deflection and combativeness. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!...I will always blame myself for taking him here to begin with!!!..Yes, my dog was sick. I get that. Doctor Roller is the best. She was kind, patient, understanding, and answered all of my questions and concerns. The whole time he was being cared for by her, he was progressing and making small improvements. Dr. Roller communicated with me the entire time, and I loved that about her. I really did. However, Doctor Truth is the worst due to my personal experience!!! She's rude and a joke!!!!!! My dog was sick, but not dying. I received a phone voicemail ( I saved it and sent it to several family members) from her that he was stable AND DOING GOOD.. before I picked him up. Not knowing that was going to be his last Monday on this earth. Immediately, he started declining when I brought him home after he went to her.. And less than 24 hours later, after I pick him up again on Tuesday from them,.. deceased. He died in my arms at the hospital 2 hrs after I picked him up. If he was that sick, why would they give him back to me like everything was all good? I dont get it. He goes to Dr. Truth just ONE DAY AND DIES THE NEXT. I'm NOT ACCUSING HER FOR HIS DEATH. I JUST WANT MY QUESTIONS ANSWERED! I asked them what killed him. Still no answer. She knows I know............... AND FOR HER TO ACT LIKE SHE DOESN'T OWE ME AND MY FAMILY AN EXPLANATION IS SO WRONG AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I pray all her pets die as well as family members. Their explanation? That he was sick. And that WE DID ALL WE COULD. DID YOU FOR REAL?? Or did you do something wrong?. Once again..not accusing.....I'm just saying............I wish that he had stayed with doctor Roller only!!!`If not another Vet!!!!!!! Unfortunately Belair is becoming extremely overcrowded and the veterinarian skill...especially diagnostic...is spotty. We have been patients for several years, and it has become increasingly disappointing. Parking lot is often overflowing and lobby is often overly full. Receptionists are kind and friendly but often disorganized and, understandably, under water. On the positive side, the vet techs are fabulous, and I highly recommend Dr. Roller, but she is not always available. Earlier this year our dog was misdiagnosed (not by Dr. Roller) with what we found out from another vet was a fairly obvious disorder, and, as a result, my husband and I caught it, and I now have what will probably be a lifelong complication from it. Later in the year our cat was found to have an illness and we didn't hear back about her diagnostic tests for over two weeks and then were not able to get her medication for a month due to the doctor being part time and fairly disorganized. It seems that the vets don't back each other up on these things and it is not uncommon to be told that you have to wait to resolve an issue until the vet you saw is back in the office. Unless big changes occur soon, I would recommend another option for your pet. We are looking elsewhere. read more

I've been taking my dog Chewy here since he was 8 weeks old..he's now 15. I drive from Ft. Washington to Bowie and there are other places in between but it's worth the commute. Dr. Roller is the only vet I see because she is caring, extremely patient and understands the issues of senior dogs. Debbie at the front desk is very helpful and knowledgeable. I've never had an issue with anyone I've dealt with. We've recently added a new member to our family, Kane and of course he's also under their care. Belair vet clinic exceeded my expectations. The service was excellent and the staff clearly loves pets. My dog was nervous at first but became calm after meeting Dr. Roller. They even gave him a treat. The facility has a traditional appearance and charges upfront for phone appointments, which I don't agree with I understood. The staff is well adjusted to many of there per patient's. That makes me happy. The inside is clean and inviting. The doctor patiently answered all our questions and took care of our dog. She even followed up with an additional recommendation two days later. We've found our dog's forever doctor and we're happy. read more

I made a rating on here a few years ago and I cannot believe things haven't changed. While the location to where I live is nice, they continually add charges to my bill EVEN when I try to get estimates. Just now I came to my vet appointment and the veterinarian isn't even in the building. The receptionists talk badly about clients and gossip right in front of us. Even the vet techs in the back. The doors are not as soundproof as they think and in my last visit heard them talking about my ferrets and their "odd" names. Regardless if they are or not, discuss that WHEN I LEAVE. This place has become very unprofessional and quite frankly I feel like I'm getting scammed into paying more money with each time I come. This Veterinary Hospital is a hidden gem! My 3 (almost 4 year old) cat Daphne was recently diagnosed with FeLv (within in the last couple of months). Dr. True took the time to fully explain Daph's condition/treatment options and necessary care moving forward via phone and in-person. She even called to check in on her/us following her blood transfusion procedure at AAVEC. Despite the prognosis, all things considered, Daph is doing well. I called a couple of days ago to get a prescription refilled and within a couple of hours, it was done! My dog loves it here, when we drop him off for boarding he completely ignores us & won't even say goodbye and the last time I picked him up he didn't care that I was there so the boarding staff is great! They walk him multiple times a day & even let them have playtime if you'd like. The staff is always friendly and helpful as well, they have medicine, give shots and baths! I took my fifteen year old cat in because she was vomiting. They said she had rotten canines, and pulled them. They gave me some meds to give her by mouth, which made her foam at the mouth, and some I.V. fluids and sent her home. Her stomach problem wasn't addressed and she had to be put to sleep a week later. The bill was over a thousand dollars. My whole savings. And I lost my best friend anyway. A year later, I took my new kitten there to see why his third eyelid was covering most of his eyes, and he was almost blind. They said he needed his first shots and deworming. His eyes weren't even looked at with any kind of equipment. They said some cats are born that way. I started going to Beltsville Animal Hospital. The doctors are very loving, the prices are so much lower, and they are working on getting full vision back for my kitten. read more

After making an appointment over a week ago and having my appointment confirmed (I even received a text 1.5 hours before the appointment), I arrived at the hospital only to be told that they were trying to contact me by email and phone messages to inform me that the veterinarian that I requested did not perform the examination I needed to obtain a health certificate for my pet's upcoming travel. The lady at the front desk was very rude and not welcoming from the minute I entered the hospital and appeared so totally confused about my appointment that I asked her if she was looking at the correct pet record. I had just visited Belair in September 2023 and was told that my pet did not have a rabies certificate on file. After several useless minutes of talking and correcting her inaccurate statements about my pet's history and being told that I would have to come back tomorrow, I made up my mind that I would never set foot in that place again. This was truly disappointing since I had supported this establishment for almost seven years. No sorry for the confusion, no let's see how we can fix this situation. All she could offer was that she was reading what was in the system. This lady was so indifferent and incompetent, that it took her about 15 minutes to simply provide me with a copy of my rabies certificate that I had on file there as well as a copy of visit summary from back in September. The apparent lack of proper record keeping I witnessed and overall unhospitable treatment that I received today was totally unacceptable. I truly hope that Belair's management ensures that my experience today isn't representative of what a paying customer should expect. read more

From the front desk, to the Lab, they are the best. I would characterize them as: Friendly, Knowledgeable, and Caring. The vets here have great knowledge and experience; the techs and assistants are first rate. Fees for services and medications are very reasonable. They have an in-house lab for some results, more complex ones they send send out to a commercial medical lab. Boarding is excellent, and the prices are reasonable for these services, too. Excellent in caring for your fuzzy family. I have been taking my pets there for many, many years, and have the utmost confidence in their abilities. read more

This vet clinic is the best I've ever been too. I had two elderly dogs when I started going to this clinic and eventually both passed. When my dog of 18 years finally came to his end I went here and the vet and I discussed options, I ended up taking him home for one more night then came back the next day to say good bye. Dr. Sinclair was off the next day but came in to help me with my dog and stayed there until I was ready to go. Then the next dog had a severe emergency and we ended up at the emergency clinic. The vet came to the emergency clinic when she got off of work to sit with us while we said good bye. The only reason I would give them a less rating is because of the front staff, they seem disorganized and can be difficult to talk too sometimes. Obviously not all the front staff but some. Still the care the vets take to me deserves the five stars read more

They've done a good job giving my dog a bath and nail trim over the past 4 years. He comes out happy with soft fur and a cute bandana. I recently moved almost an hour away but remained faithful in bringing my dog here. I was disappointed in my most recent interaction when I brought my dog at the wrong time and they refused any type of flexibility to still bathe him. When booking a bath they do not say the exact time for drop off or pick up, just "bring him Friday Morning". I would usually drop him off on my way to work but since the pandemic and working from home I ended up bringing him around 10am. I was told they would not take him because drop off ended at 9am. They didn't care that I had been a loyal customer for years or that I had traveled a long way to get there. I own that I was late but there was no one time exception, no warning, no ownership of lack of communication. They chose policy over relationship so I decided not to reschedule. I ended up calling a place closer to my home called Fig & Friends. They were flexible for me to drop my dog off at anytime that same day. They provided just as high quality of service for only $35, where as Belair was usually closer to $65. read more

My puppy loves Dr. Tru and drags you to get to her. It's a small vet office but they get you in if your dog isn't feeling well. read more

I have experienced a lot better. First they lose the records. I came in ahead of our appointment dropping off my dog's records in good faith. I figured they'd look them over. The staff took several tries to find the records. Finally found them, but that's just bad. I mean come on, the patient's records...come on! Second, the staff gave me a hard time about selling a single flea control application from a 6-pack. Come on! That's just mean. I had to pull teeth to get them to sell me one. And then the Doctor. Ah, ah.... well, he's the doctor. Very sterile, didn't try to establish a relationship with my dog. Just came in, looked her over, then had the technician come in to give her a bordetella vaccination. "Doctor," I said, "Have you had time to read over her records?" No, he didn't. No big first impression. Goodbye, have a nice day. Left. Moved recently, called them to say, "Can you send my dog's records?" Gave them my new address. Called 3 x. I haven't received my dog's records, I told them. They have this on file: "Moved, sent records." The receptionist says, "Yep, says here they mailed them, but where to ...it doesn't say." How embarrassing. How could you admit that?! What a bunch of noodle heads. It's one thing to be rude, but not rude and be dumb at the same time. No, no, no, say it isn't so! Oh, no! We took our dog in for flu vaccine and 2-night stay. That was our first time using Belair, and it will be our last. She ended up with a bloody 1/4 inch bruise on her nose, which when asked about, staff responded that she was "rambunctious" and that it was probably from the metal enclosure of the kennel. There is now a permanent scar on her nose. My dog's been to other vets and dog care facilities, and played/tussled with dogs at dog parks getting scratches and such. But never had any permanent scars/bruises until staying at Belair. Quite disappointing. read more

REALLY NO STARS - NOT IMPRESSED. Horrible first impression. Our first appointment - I had all of the preliminary paperwork filled out and arrived before my appointment time. At my appointment time I was put into the exam room. After 35 minutes in the exam room, I went out to inquire as to when the doctor would be available. I was given the excuse that the computers were down. I asked what that had to do with my dog's exam. Then I was told she was late because of COVID. Not going to lie, I snapped. I told them, yes, with raised voice, Covid had nothing to do with examining my dog, their computers being down had nothing to do with examining my dog. Since Covid, how long did I have to wait to see my own doctor? NOT 35 MINUTES. My dog has Cushings and I have had to take her to the vet every 2 weeks for months now. I never waited more than 15 minutes. Heartbroken her vet is retiring and I have to find a new vet - it will not be Belair. Dr. True came out and told me since I snapped at her staff I needed to leave and never come back. No reasonable explanation or apology for why I waited 35 minutes. I tried to do this visit on my lunch hour and if someone would have given me a viable reason, or at a minimum popped their head in to the exam room to tell me she was running late, I am a reasonable person and would have understood. But they acted as if my time was not the least bit important. HOW LONG IS AN ACCEPTABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO WAIT? They did not need to tell me to come back - even if she had seen my dog I wouldn't be coming back! read more

I take both my Rottweilers here. Vets are great. I took my female in when she was sick. Vet had me take her off leash was on the ground playing with her checking her out at the same time. They did not run unneeded test like previous vet and charge me $500.00. He told me what it was and with meds it was a lot less then I figured. I live 3 houses down so I walk in sometimes to weigh the dogs make sure they stay lean. The girls up front are always friendly and helpful. read more

I could not say kinder things about the entire staff at Belair Veterinary Hospital. After moving back to the area and in need of a vet for one of my two cats, I was recommended to try Belair Veterinary Hospital by my parents who had taken our family pets there for years. This past April, my older cat had become suddenly ill and I took her in for an appointment which they were able to make for us right away. They worked with my past two vet hospitals to obtain past medical records in a seamless manner. Thanks to some wonderful care and advice from the vets, vet techs, and other staff members, I was able to enjoy an additional 9 months with my beloved furry family member. Sadly, she became ill again this past December right before Christmas and after trying several different things without getting any stronger, I had to make one of the hardest decisions any pet owner has to make. Dr. Roller and the rest of the staff were there with me every single step of the way and were there to listen as I questioned the best options for end of life care. I am thankful to them for the extra time I was able to spend with my cat as well as the class and caring kindness each staff member exemplified through the very end. (Including a beautiful condolence card with personal notes from everyone.) I am very disappointed after a recent visit at Belair Hospital where my 7 month old puppy needed a surgical procedure. While the time of the surgical procedure is determined by Belair, I found it extremely difficult to connect with the doctor who performed the surgery, Dr. Sinclair. Dr. Sinclair left a voicemail, and when I called back on multiple occasions to reach her, I was told to talk to just speak to the technicians. When I arrived to pick up the puppy, I was informed that Dr. Sinclair left for the day without any attempts of reaching back out. I wanted to speak to the doctor to discuss specific aspects of the procedure. While I can understand that a doctor's schedule can be unpredictable, I would of expected better customer service from Dr. Sinclair and her staff. While surgical procedures can be commonplace for Dr. Sinclair, I found the whole experience to be mismanaged, insensitive, and lacked compassion. I was repeatedly asked if my questions were answered before the surgery, which was scheduled a month later. Dr. Sinclair and her staff gave the impression that she is not available for questions post-surgical procedures, which I find to be unacceptable. read more

Dr. Jantzen Strother provided our recently deceased (14 1/2 year old) toy poodle with excellent care, then referred her to Dogs and Cats Referral Hospital when her needs required specialty care. Now that we have adopted a five-year old toy poodle, and have a new puppy coming to us in a few weeks, we have once again turned to Dr. Strother and Bel Air to provide our "new" little ones' care. We have been consistently pleased with all aspects of Bel Air, including the techs and front desk staff. We recommend Bel Air without reservation. read more

Went there for the first time and was very pleased with my visit. Excellent customer service starting from the phone call to schedule the appointment. The front desk staff was friendly. The doctor took his time with my dog and gave the impression that he truly cared. I also like that their waiting area has a divider. My dog gets super anxious and excited when he sees other dogs. He will usually bark and flip around wanting to play with every dog he sees. That barrier helped him stay calm for the few minutes we were waiting.
