We used to go to the Ware location but bought a house here in Belchertown so we switched and I'm so happy we did! Everyone is incredibly friendly and they are committed to being force free and fear free, which is amazing as someone with an anxious reactive covid dog. This review is about the horrific experience we had with Belchertown Vet. Our dog went in for a dental. While she was being admitted I explained that I wanted her to please go early because she is a rescue and she has separation anxiety, we do not crate her and that she is very hyper. While we are talking Izzy is pacing back and forth, panting and jumping up and down proving exactly what I was saying. The tech asked if this was our first visit there we replied yes and he assured us not to worry because they take very good care of new patients. I left there feeling good. This was around 7:15 AM. At around 1:00 PM I called to see how Izzy was doing. I was told she hadn't been taken back yet. The same vet tech who told us not to worry is now saying he never said it. So that is the first time they called us liars. They didn't do her until last. I was literally shaking I was so upset that not only did they ignore my request they did the exact opposite of what we did ask. Izzy had been in a crate for over 5 hours drugged. I am the fist to own I was angry. And I was loud. I was assured that Izzy had not been left alone but that does not negate the fact that she was drugged in a crate for 5 hours. Awhile later we get a call from the owner. Much to our surprise instead of an apology we were told that unless we trusted her to do the work she was not going to do the dental which by the way turned into oral surgery. This woman is a complete stranger never met her and still haven't and we need to have trust in her? I said Izzy needs this procedure and after all she has been through it would be very cruel to not continue this procedure at this point. She just kept going on and on. At that point I have no idea what she was saying because I left the room. My husband continued to talk to her he told her once again what the vet tech told us and she said there were two people in that room. No there were 4 people in that room and you weren't one of them. So this was the second time they called us liars. Finally she agreed to do the procedure. Izzy ended up having an abscessed tooth that was really bad and she ended up being in surgery for 3 hours. We picked her up at 7:30PM. Over 12 hours to do a dental. The next day I get a survey in the mail. I respond to that survey simply with You're kidding right? Later that day I go to order Izzy some Bravecto and I get a response that they have terminated the relationship. I got on the phone and called them to ask if they really were not going to do her aftercare to which I was told they would call me back. The Office Manager called back. I have a signature on my email that I have been using for 10 plus years that says Sarcasm - because beating the crap out of people is illegal. Clearly a joke. Once again she wouldn't believe us. She actually told my husband that she is sure he wants to protect his wife at which point I took the phone. Third time they accused us of lying. Well they were convinced that I had added that to my email just for them. If it wasn't so insane it would have been comical. While I was talking to the office manager she said that their only other recourse other than terminating my relationship was to and I quote "pull a warrant" Are you kidding me? You are going to pull a warrant because I have a signature on my email account that you don't like. Wouldn't they have looked stupid when the police showed up and I showed them 1,000 other emails with the same thing. Anyway the Office Manager responded that I shouldn't be sending that to a professional office. To which I SO wanted to reply "I didn't". But I held my tongue because my dog needed the care. They did agree that they would do the after care and then decide if they would continue the relationship. Like I would EVER go back there. What a joke. So just so everyone is clear I am terminating the relationship since Izzy has had her aftercare appointment. It really is a shame because we loved the staff and Doctor at Canterbury Tails. I am a firm believer that people who continually accuse people of being liars are people who lie! I wish I had read some reviews before ever walking in the door. I had brought my little pupper here after hearing great things. I initially loved everything about the place: vet techs were super friendly, front desk staff were always pleasant, and since I only personally dealt with Dr G, I loved her... Well, let's forward to 2024, shall we?? I am not at all pleased as of late. They hint at/try to convince you to get certain vaccinations, supplements and lab work, and give you ballpark prices, so then you'll be super surprised when you do get a final total. I thought this vaccination was around $47?? Nope, it's more like $70. Oh, these labs an additional $40 and totally worth it?? Learned differently. Is your pet on a flea and tick?? Say no more, you also need a Lyme vax, because Dr G sees this issue "A LOT"... so, am I wasting my money on flea and tick?? What's the point?? Oh, and it gets better... when I addressed an issue regarding the dog and the regiment he was put on, Dr G turns to me and says, "Well, you can't just throw all of this stuff at the problem to figure out the problem." I'm paraphrasing, but seriously?? Did you NOT read the flippin chart? And she never lets you finish telling her the problems addressed and what was done to do something about it. "Oh, he was on a medicated food?? Then he should stay on it." Uh, no... that's not at all what was discussed... and then when addressing the actual problem, she gave me an example, but then also provided a literal political opinion that was no where needed, nor did it pertain to the issue at hand. I could give 2 flying bats about your political leaning, but since THAT'S important enough for you to make known to a client, then I guess we're done here. Keep your politics to yourself. It's EXTREMELY unprofessional. 3 things you should never discuss in a workplace (or with clients/customers) your pay, religion and politics... I'm gone. Trying yet another vet, because they all come so highly recommended. *eye roll* Seems no one wants to be a vet, or a very good one these days. read more

This place will slowly increase bills and treatments over the life of the pet. Stay away... They try to pump the animal with multiple injections same day and send you out of course callbacks for more treatments right after you leave.. They were good when it was a startup but are now greedy and when my pet came to the end of life..... They sent me somewhere else and told me they wouldn't treat or put him down... Why call yourself a hospital?.... I hope you get exposed for what kind of practice you really are and get what you deserve so others don't go thru what you did to my pet and my family. read more

I love this veterinary hospital. They always do their best to accommodate my pets needs, even during the pandemic! They have several doctors available at two locations and very flexible hours. They take the time to explain to me what's going on with my dogs and I never feel rushed or overcharged. We have taken our dogs to see Dr Greenberger for roughly 9 years and I can only recommend the clinic! Dr. G. has always been great with our dogs, honest and caring! The staff is amazing! An absolutely lovely bunch! During this whole Covid ordeal they still managed to provide excellent treatment to our two puppies and made me feel at ease when I dropped them off at the clinic. I have never left the clinic without my questions being answered and I always received a phonecall to check on my dogs recovery! I'd give them 10 stats if I could! read more

Belchertown Vet is amazing! Everyone there is professional and compassionate. I can't imagine taking my doggos to anyone else for care.

Very Unprofessional. Dr G is extremely unknowledgeable and rude. When we tried to ask questions she just kept saying how COVID has been so hard for them and they are struggling to keep up with demand, which is tragic but not relevant to why our dog was sick. Also kept saying that we were arguing with her when we were just trying to figure out what was going on because she wouldn't give us a straight answer. Told us that she didn't want to say that she thought the dog had cancer because she didn't want to freak us out, but that's unfortunately part of the job. She has also since gone on Facebook to say how terrible her clients are instead of taking responsibility for how she treats her clients. She likely needs a vacation at this point as it seems like she is about to loose it. We tried to stay clam during the time we talked with her, despite our frustrates, because of this and she still freaked out at us. She has a very bad reputation with other people in the business because of the way she treats staff and patients. Place went way down hill after all the good vets left because of her. Spent over $2,000 for a misdiagnosis and ended up bringing the dog to the ER the next day where we were finally able to get answers. read more

My cat was sick with a mystery illness and the doctor at belchertown ordered several tests to try to figure out the problem. All of the tests came back normal so she referred us to a specialist. The specialist diagnosed a very serious problem and we treated the cat for a few weeks. The specialist kept Belchertown informed about his diagnosis and treatment and a few of his prescriptions were filled by Belchertown. When he started to decline despite all our efforts, I called Belchertown to have him euthanized (they were our regular vet and we'd already paid them over $1000 for tests and prescriptions). I suspected there would be an issue when the woman who answered the phone put me on hold to supposedly speak to the doctor. She came back on and said the doctor can't do it, just like that. This is the same doctor who six months earlier told me she loved my cat and went out of her way to try to figure out what was wrong, yet when he was suffering and dying I was turned away when I called to have him euthanized. I don't know if it was actually the doctor who said no or someone else, but I was shocked and upset. For the record, I called South Hadley VCA in desperation and they had the compassion to euthanize my cat the very next day, despite us having never been there before. I'll never know why Belchertown turned me away because I won't go back there. read more

My dog loves going to see all the staff at Belchertown Vet's office. Everyone is so nice and takes excellent care of him. I have been to other Vet's offices in the area with other animals over the years but have never experienced this level of care and concern. I won't take my four legged child to anyone else. I cannot say enough good things about this place. They are wonderful. every single person loves the animals, we have been thru a lot with our guinea pigs, our cynder want thru several surgeries for his teeth and the vet and staff were so kind and loving, when our jimminey died 2 minutes from getting there everyone was so comforting, they lovingly held jimminey and made sure he had passed and then helped us make arrangements to cremate him. Really I can't begin to tell you how heaven sent this place is!! They are caring and kind and will be honest and do what's best for your pet and for you. After coming to the heart breaking decision that my 5 year old hairless rat (Russell)needed to be put to sleep because of his rapidly declining health, I was told by many friends and family to go to Belchertown Veterinary Hospital. When I called, Faith reassured me they would do all they could to keep Russell and myself comfortable and calm during this tough process. After getting to the facility Faith took my ratty and held him close until he felt comfortable enough in her arms to snuggle up and nap. She took him away and left me feeling better about my decision than I had all week. This place I would recommend to any pet owner, the staff was so friendly and REALLY cared about my feelings. Even though he was a hairless rat, I loved him like a dog and they did not treat me any differently.(as other places had) Incredible, I will come back with future pets. read more

My experience with this veterinary hospital was HORRIBLE! The doctor gave my dog an antibacterial shampoo along with the standard antibiotics and antihistamines that they prescribe for dogs with allergies when he should have been given an corticosteroid shot in place of the shampoo. I have 20 years experience with the breed and have had more than one other dog from the breed with the exact same allergy problem. His allergy issue is common in his breed and his case is not severe. Suppressing them should have been very easy to have dealt with. Ten days after the initial visit I walked out from the re-check appointment knowing in the back of my head his skin wasn't going to clear up completely from the treatment she prescribed. The doctor said herself during the re-check appointment "he still has a little inflammation". She still didn't give him the shot he needed. Fast forward a couple weeks later, while tampered down significantly, he still has an allergy bump popping up every couple days and the issue has not been fully resolved. I called upset this morning but I was not yelling at anyone and asked why he was given a shampoo instead of a shot. At this point I just want his bumps to stop popping up. The doctor got extremely defensive and accused me of yelling at her which was not true. She then asked me what vet I want my dogs records faxed to and hung the phone up on me before I had a chance to even open my mouth. I would not recommend this vet to someone I hated. read more
