This is a review specifically for Dr. Helen Spiegel Lee. Last year I brought my cat in for a wellness exam after a couple years of not being able to afford vet care and moving around quite a bit. Dr. Spiegel was extremely short with my partner and I. She was curt, cold and we left the appointment feeling very judged and a bit admonished for reasons we couldn't quite place. I thought maybe it was because I'd not been able to afford bringing my cat in as regularly as they recommended, so I was seen as neglectful. It was very uncomfortable and left me feeling hesitant to return. Well, here I am again researching clinics and vets to take my beloved gal in for another routine exam and I've not only found that Valley Vet is owned by private equity, but Dr. Spiegel is a vocal anti-trans activist! We've been bringing our cats here since first moving to the area in 2022. The front desk staff are always so pleasant to speak to. They are thoughtful and kind. The doctors are amazing. We've experienced almost every doctor there & appreciate each. We recently had to put our cat of 15 years to sleep due to a cancer diagnosis. I will forever be grateful to this place for the care and guidance they gave us. We were able to keep our boy gorgonzola happy and comfortable in his final days. After several trips to other vets over a one year period Dr Watkins looked at our dog and ordered a tick disease panel. Sure enough she has tick disease. So after $1500 spent at other vets, and the most recent who did Xrays, blood work etc they all gave up. Dr Watkins did a $70 test and found the problem. She went on specific antibiotics for it. I have been going to Valley Vet for almost 30 years. As a senior I am on a fixed income and have make choices as to when I can get my 2 cats to the vet. Recently my cat has developed a growth on it's leg. I called Valley Vet and was told my regular doctor was on vacation. The person on the phone,Taylor, told us we could have an appointment on the 8th of August. When she saw we hadn't been in 3 years she quickly took back the appointment and said it would now be at least 3 weeks. In other words if we can't make money off you twice a year (2 cats) go somewhere else. And Taylor basically told us to do that. For 30 years I thought this was a good caring veterinary practice but I learned different yesterday. My cat still has this big purple growth on his leg the size of a marble ready to pop. I will seek out a more caring veterinary service for my cat. If he lives that long. read more

They even use computers in the exam rooms like the one my doctor uses. Dr. Joe is very nice and funny and he took his time with us. He offered other options our previous vet didn't. Valley Vet is everything you can wish a vet to be. My 18 year old cat recently passed and they were her vet through life. They always went above and beyond for any medical issue the Sadie had and the individual vets were amazing with follow through and phone calls to check her progress. Over the years I had the pleasure of working with the amazing staff. The thing that really amazed me was their help with Sadie's end of life care. They were supportive of me through her home hospice care. I have had many cats through the years and the end of life care can be very tough. They helped Sadie and me through it. When Sadie did pass they sent me a card with notes from all the staff. It was so special and I cannot wait to introduce them to my next cat when it enters my life. read more

Very bad experience, more than once. I first brought my kitten here out of no choice because my primary vet did not have any availabilities and they referred me here. This facility is made up of many doctors, making it easy to get an appointment. My 8-month-old kitten, stopped eating for a day and a half and was being very finicky with food which was very worrisome. He had gotten all of his shots and never had any problems in the past besides being picky with his food. Valley Vet told me to bring him in immediately, which I did. My assigned doctor for the day spent about 5 minutes looking at Ollie, before telling me she needs to do bloodwork to make sure it isn't a serious condition, scaring me half to death. As I waited in the waiting room worried by the thought of kitten having an organ problem, she finally comes out and says bloodwork is completely normal and to try and feed him tuna from the grocery store. I was charged 200$ for bloodwork, the vet visit, and fluids and nausea medication that I was unaware he was getting. I left their place 400$ short to be told to give my kitten TUNA. I decided to call, and complain because I felt my visit was very unfair and they were not willing to compensate at all. A few months later, I find myself in a similar predicament. There are only so many vets around my location, and with COVID-19 is very hard to get an urgent apt if needed. My primary again, referred me to go to Valley because I would not have been able to get an apt for two weeks. My cat was very irritated by his ears, making me think he could have a potential ear infection. When I made the apt, I was not aware of who I would be seeing, it turns out it was the same doctor as before. Considering the pandemic, they just took my cat from my car without me being able to go in, the receptionist on the phone was telling me different prices because I wanted to make sure I knew what I was going to be paying for. They said Ollie needed an Ear Smere and then possible medication and cleaning for whatever they find. I was told 3 solid prices for each, making me feel a little bit better going into this apt. After being with ollie for again 10 minutes, I get a phone call from the doctor herself telling me she found yeast, and had to clean his ears. Prior, the receptionist told me an ear cleaning was 24 dollars, but now the doctor is telling me that there are three prices for ear cleanings, and Ollie's was the most expensive charging me an extra 10$. I settled for the money because I did not want my cat to be in pain or potentially worse pain. Ollie was on this medication for 5 days experiencing extreme gastroenteritis symptoms. I called the vet and the doctor said she has never seen a cat have these symptoms on this certain drug. I stopped giving this to him on my own because it was turning my animal into a different cat, sleeping, eating less, and having bad diarrhea. After calling different emergency vets, they all told me it was the right decision to stop the medication especially if my pet has experienced gastro symptoms in the past, WHICH valley knew of because I had taken Ollie there before. I demanded to speak with the owner now because the doctor did not give me any advice or relief in which I was dealing with my pet. The owner offered me a free re-check of Ollie's ears to see if the medicine did its job for the 5 days he was on it. Today, was my recheck and I can truly say I will never bring any animal back to this place. They brought Ollie in, me thinking that this was going to be a free visit and an exchange of medication because he had a very bad reaction to it. They checked his ears and still proceeded to say that Ollie still had yeast in his ears and they would want to prescribe a different medication, but I would still have to pay the 40$. Before allowing me to speak, the vet tech on the phone was explaining to me how I would need to pay for this even though the recheck was a fee and going on and on about how if humans get sick they have to pay for their medication each time. I declined this medication and called my Vet who I trust who told me that she never works with these types of medications and to not give them to him if he had prior gastro problems and that the 5 days of Tresaderm probably cleared up the "small yeast" that was found in his ears, to begin with. This money-hungry facility lacks care for the animals that are seen, and only care about racking up your bill for things your cat probably doesn't even need. Every single time I went my bill ended up being 100's for literally nothing more than I could find on google by myself. Do not bring your animals here unless you want to pay a fortune for uncaring doctors who act as if your animal is just an object waiting to be seen. THERE are other reasonably priced vet facilities in the area that care more greatly for each pet. I am disgusted with every visit I have had here, and I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but NOPE. read more

I'm a college student living with two other students and we recently got two cats around 7 months old. They are brother and sister and are not fixed. We need to get them fixed ASAP so they don't start reproducing. Thus we made an appointment with Valley Vet hospital. There was an extreme lack of communication on pricing and estimates prior to the appointment. We were shocked to find out it was going to be $1000 for both surgery's and specifically verbally declined extra blood work when the vetech called us from the parking lot. Because we could not afford it. Our surgery ended up having to get postponed but we still left the building with a bill of over $400 for blood work when we have specifically asked for none. The place was managed so poorly I couldn't even speak to someone at the desk they had a constant 3 lines ringing with one person attempting to answer them. A manager called my roommate back hours later and basically denied that the vetech could have forgotten to mention the blood work was included in the surgery estimate because they were a "seasoned employee". I was with her when she was on the phone with the vetech and there was absolutely no mention of this. We were severely taken advantage of and gaslit by management. This place is not run well and will fee you and charge you for anything and everything! read more

Had to visit extraneous amounts of times because doctors failed to resolve my two cats problems and constantly contradicted any progress. They ended up wasting us thousands of dollars for vet care I could have just gotten from pet smart. I lost my job recently due to an injury on the job and have a low income. Since then my cat has gotten sick and I've contacted several vet offices seeking help for him and none have been sympathetic or compassionate about his pain or suffering and are only concerned about their bottom line, including this place here. When I called today to ask for referrals to a possible place for my cat to go or to get info on their sponsorship program for people with low income that they talk about on their website I was offered to apply for a credit card - really? You want to put me into debt while caring for a suffering cat? Good job there! When I explained further i got the cost of the exam saying it was $51 and that I could make an appointment and I could discus my cat's needs and I got an apology. I switched my Corgi's care here and now also my senior cat. Dr. Spiegel is wonderful as is the rest of the staff. My dog has boarded there and the care is absolutely superb! When I needed an emergency visit to a Chicopee vet on a Saturday, they couldn't see him. Because I boarded my dog at Valley Vet they had all his medical records and saw him immediately. I switched the dog's service to them. Their wellness plan saves you money. The Pet Portal is wonderful. It's so easy to keep track of your pet[s] vaccinations and it also lets you make your pet visits online. They also offer discounts on pet medication and you can order refills online. I am totally impressed with their online service. Also the staff handle phone-calls and emails efficiently. As for the person who gave this establishment a 1-star review, that is totally uncalled for. No one is going to administer vet care to a pet for free or a negotiated price. The complainers situation is sad, indeed. But, having a pet is in many ways like having a child. If you can't support the care of a pet, then you shouldn't have one. read more

Very poor service, and overall knowledge is very low. We saw a vet that I suspected may have been new to the job, but turns out that person is the Chief of Staff! She could not make a diagnosis, tried to instill fear in us (the clients) by telling us our dog was dying. Next day, I got in with another vet and quickly got the problem. Adjusted the dog's diet and he bounced right back. Valley Vet must have told me 15 times that my dog was dying and that I must rush to an emergency hospital. Dr Kenworthy is the best vet ever for large dogs. She has taken care of my 2 labs for over 11 years. If you have a large dog, ask for Dr Kenworthy. She is very knowledgeable and truly cares about my dog's health. She will answer all your questions and takes her time with you and your dog. our cat was not feeling well and our vet was on vacation we were pointed to this place. We were told our cat had a mass on her kidneys however no sonogram was done,her diabetes level was high and possibly cancer ..possibly? I should have gotten a second opinion, we both felt rushed into making a rash decision i now regret. we went home with our baby in a box yesterday,she is buried in the back yard. after paying $ 310 dollars for a vet visit,$55 for walking through the door,175 for blood work and $ 80 to put a needle in her arm and end her life ,she was put to sleep, I regret taking her there, because I now feel as though not enough was presented to us in the very rushed choice to end her life. Very negligent service. This year I took my dog for his annual. He wasn't seen by the Dr. but for her assistant. The appointment lasted 10 minutes. Soon after it I notice that one of my dog's teeth's was loose.I decided to take him to another Vet, who diagnosed Mayor Periodontal Disease .He is going to surgery and he's going to loose 3 of his teeth's. The health plans they offer give you an affordable way to pay, with a discounted rate. They offer ultrasound and some other services that not all vets have. This place was very accommodating until I worked with Dr. Elizabeth Gatti. After finding out my puppy had Giardia, I had gone to her for advice on what I should look forward to in terms of treatment and how I could handle an unfortunate situation I had experienced from another hospital prior to visiting Valley Vet. With my first experience of speaking with her, her tone and how she spoke to me was completely inappropriate and unexpected. I simply needed advice and help and was instead met with an incredibly unpleasant call where she continuously spoke to me with an aggressive tone. Though her advice did in fact make sense and helped with the situation her approach was unnecessary. I will try to return to Valley Vet in the hopes of a better experience and a new doctor but will say that this doctor, in particular, should really recognize her wrong doings and improve her behavior with customers if she hopes to maintain a reputable standing through Valley Vet! read more

Caring, professional animal hospital! Dr. Diamond and staff are top-notch. Always on the forefront with new treatments and protocol. I wish we still lived in the area so I knew my dog and cat were in the best care. The staff explains instructions throughly and they always follow up to check on the patient. My dog was having anxiety traveling and this office helped me find a treatment to help our pet make the move to the Midwest comfortably.
