Got stuck at Edmonton airport longer than I would have liked so ended up going here to grab a snack and also a drink a couple hours later. The poutine was not good. The beer selection was wonderful! They are on the expensive side for the food offerings which are not that great. Our first server not so good second server was sweet and attentive. This place was a little bit further down the terminal so it wasn't as busy which was good. Plenty of seating though. Tables and seating at the bar as well. The restaurant had a decent sized footprint. I had an earlier flight so it wasn't too busy. They did serve breakfast all day which is always good for me. The big Belgian breakfast was good. Stop here and read the menu. If the idea of a Belgian beer bar didn't draw you in close enough, it surely will. Traditional Belgian Frites got my mouth watering, but that was before I saw the Moules Frites and Steak Frites. Ultimately a lot of the menu isn't exactly takeout friendly, but I noticed the French Dip on a pretzel bun and had to have it! The beef was juicy, the pretzel bun had a chewy exterior and soft center, and the fries were crispy, salty, and delicious! The cheese was melted to perfection but it wasn't as sharp as I'd hoped and faded to the background instead of adding to the overall sandwich. The au jus was rich in mouthfeel but pretty bland on the palate. All in all, it just felt like it was lacking basic seasoning, otherwise, it would have been a delicious sandwich. I ended up putting ketchup on it. Mustard would have been a better call, but I didn't have any. For the price though ($12 CAD), it was a solid portion, a good value, and far better than most airport food I've encountered. I will add that the selection of Belgian taps (Delirium Tremens for example) will make any beer fan smile, and they also offer a full bar too. Worth a stop if you're hungry and nearby. read more

It was morning early the cafe was relatively full. I was greeted by friendly staff and I ordered the "Herb and Aged Cheddar omelet. 3 egg omelet, home fries, toast. It's a $16 plate and did not qualify to be a cheese anything. My disappointment and wanting to send it back was put off as I was to board the plane in a short time and after security I wasn't about to have that complaint dealt with. But it says Herb and Aged Cheddar not Herb and 11 micro grates of cheese. Next time, I will make sure to hit McDonald's or Tim Hortons for breakfast. Less $$ and more cheese. read more

I didn't sit down, we were just picking up food for breakfast working at the Airport. Must say the Eggs Benedict was stellar. Nicely poached eggs, smoky flavour ham, made in house hollandaise sauce I believe because it was straight up drinkable and well seasoned wedges. The only thing is the muffin was difficult to cut and that's why I gave four stars instead of five that's all. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for. Came here for lunch while waiting for a connecting flight. This is a nice little getaway from the busy waiting areas near gate 64. Service is friendly and prompt. Seating is comfortable which is a plus when you're traveling I had the chicken lettuce wraps for lunch. It's an appetizer but serves as a good lunch option and is quite filling. They use marinated and grilled chicken breasts. Comes with a ginger type dipping sauce and a sesame one. Both are full of flavour. Giving this a 4/5 when comparing it to other airport restaurants that I've frequented. Edmonton International upgraded their eating options. Newer part of the airport passed the pedestrian in the left by a huge leafy green wall. Spurts of busy. Full menu breakfast all day - waffles are obviously a must. Had the Wanderlust poached egg salad - fresh and husband had chicken and waffles. Serving sizes huge and tasty. French press coffee fresh. Service was good and waitress was pleasant. Full bar with restaurant seating. Tv screens in certain locations. For the airport...this is pretty pleasant. First of all, nice atmosphere....for an airport really great place to start or end the trip. Nice woodwork right besides the plant living wall at the airport gives a sense of tranquility. And really decent menu....amazing beer selection. We decided on the Brussel Mussels which are mussels cooked in Leffe blonde, ground chorizo sausage, tomato, sambal sauce. They came with a generous portion of fries. Were the mussels super amazing....no not really. But they were decent and the liquid they were cooked in was very tasty. I think that people that are giving bad reviews are perhaps having too high of expectations. It is at the airport. Generally, at the airport food is overpriced and not high quality. Would I frequent here if this was a stand alone restaurant? Probably not often. But to relax with a beer and to have a bite to eat before you pay for an overpriced sandwich on the airplane. Sure. Excellent service today with the lovely Paige. I've been here for a drink before, between flights, but hadn't tried their menu. The food is surprisingly great for the airport. I had the smoked salmon Eggs Benedict on potato cakes and my spouse tried their goat cheese and sausage flatbread. Both were delicious. We also tried their lobster bisque and it was definitely tasty! My partner and I ate for the first time here and I am a fan! We ate from the breakfast menu before our flight and it was very good. The food was tastey and made me feel good after eating. Service was fast and efficient. Our waittress was pleasant, accurate and friendly. Cleanliness was good and the environment was comfortable and not noisy. The decor was cool. Very creative menu, merging Belgian cusine/decor with North American cusine/decor. Also, as an added bonus, the restaurant just happened to be close to our gate and the bathrooms!! What a solid option for pre flight snack and drink. They have a full selection of Your Belgian beer favourites like leffe , delirium , hoegarden and the like. Their fries are total killer with that tasty mayo. The prices are not exactly low but what can you expect in a captive airport environment. Oh man. What was I thinking. Mussels in Edmonton is a recipe for disaster. I looked on yelp. Decent reviews and there was a photo of plump mussels. I love mussels. I go here. If I happen to be stuck at the airport for a while, this is my favourite place for some food and a drink. It is not cheap but I'd rather spend my money here than at Chili's. They have really good mussels and fries, plus I can get a glass of Trappist Chimay beer! Lots of TVs playing a variety of sports, but it has really nice wooden accents and it's quite open - next to the wall of grass/flowers - so it doesn't feel like your typical 'sports' bar. The only annoying thing is that it's a little bit of a hike from the domestic gates, but well worth it if you've got some time to kill. read more

Imagine seeing Disneyland in the distance. As you get closer and enter, you realize you're actually at Gisneyland, the knock off where everything, and I mean everything, is of inferior quality. That is what you get at the Edmonton Belgian Beer Cafe. Unfortunately, my plane was delayed (tip: you can only access this place after going through airport security... luckily), so I ordered more than anticipated. I base this review off of an order of chicken nachos ("the food"); and a glass of St Bernardus (on tap), Rochefort 8 (bottle), and a few local Alberta craft brews (on tap). FOOD: this was hands down the worst part of the experience. The chicken nachos tasted like something I would pick up extremely drunk at 4a.m. at a 7-11 store out of sheer desperation. The chips tasted like cheap corn chips right out of the bag of the no name brand sold in the discount bin. The chicken tasted so processed that it made Subway chicken taste real. BEER: as a Belgian beer enthusiast, I was excited by the menu for an airport bar - 7 Belgian/Dutch beers (with only one of which was the garbage that is Stella Artois) and 8 various North American craft options (mostly Albertan). There was also a decent selection of Belgian bottles. And they have a great selection of glasses. Unfortunately, I don't think the beers are properly stored. Both the St Bernadus tap and Rochefort 8 bottle tasted subpar. I can only speculate on what the problem may have been so I will leave it at that. I switched to Alberta beers so as to avoid further disappointment. SERVICE: friendliness and attentiveness was tolerable at the bare minimum of what I would expect at any bar. However, knowledge of beers was far below expectations at a beer speciality bar. The staff did not seem to have received proper training in beer tasting or serving. Though I did not ask questions or take suggestions, I heard others around me asking about beer styles and the answers were lacklustre at best. The worst, however, was the awful pour of my Rochefort 8, not leaving the lees in the bottom of the bottle during the pour and creating too much head. The large head issue was a consistent problem with the tap pours. read more

Given there are a number of other options within close proximity, go to any of the others. I ordered a simple mushroom swiss burger, and it was served to me on a lonely plate with no fries. I was told "sorry, she forgot to drop the fries, but here's the burger. I'll bring them out in a bit". Forgot to "drop the fries"? There were literally only two elements of the meal to remember, the burger and the fries. Not to sound too mean, but it's the truth. I give this a 2.5, based on the food. All else was ok, except it was a bit (just a bit) slow. The Belgian beers are expensive (hey, you're at an airport) but the menu actually had reasonable prices. I now know why. The food (at least what I had) is not good. The "meat lover's flatbread" is cheap bread with a bit of greasy meat on it covered in crappy cheese. I made those in the microwave when I was in junior high. I am not happy about the money I spent and would not recommend others go there...unless you are looking for an expensive Belgian beer at an airport. Then you're golden. For airport venues, this one is great. The beer selection isn't anything more than I can get in local liquor stores, but in an airport bar I expect to see only macros.
