Have rented tuxes from them for years. They've always been very helpful in sizing and always a positive experience.

This place was the only problem we ran into with our entire wedding planning process. And we had to postpone 3 times due to Covid. How they are still in business is beyond me. 1. Idiotic staff. Can't tell you the price of anything or if it's arrived. Called a total of 17 times (spoke to someone each time) in 2.5 months to arrange a suit for our 1 year old. Each time, the woman couldnt tell me the price of the suit they had in the store and told me she'd call me back.. never did. I FINALLY made an appointment to go in 3 weeks before our wedding to try it on and she told me to wait outside in the pouring rain with my baby for 30 minutes [while literally no one else was in the store] because she was "assisting another customer". 2. The suit for my son was too big so she said she would order a smaller size and call me when it came in. Never called. I called them 4 times about it and she kept saying she didn't know if it had come in yet but that she would call me when it did. 4 days past my wedding date and I'm still waiting for her call 3. She refused to let our groomsmen and my FIL to try on the suits before leaving the store. Swore up and down that the sizing is perfect and that they "take care of their customers." See pictures for how they looked on our wedding day because they didn't arrive in store until the DAY BEFORE OUR WEDDING!!! We thankfully were able to find a lovely tailor near our venue that fixed these issues (free of charge out of pity) the morning of our wedding and even they had heard of how terrible Bell Formal Wear in Bayside is. 40 miles away from it. The shoulder pads were so extreme and boxy too, but that really was the least of our worries at this point. 4. They charged $250 for the rental of a suit (no shoes) for a 6 year old. Also didn't give suspenders to 2 out of 5 of our groomsmen and we had to go buy them. 5. Were just extremely rude and condescending each time we tried to get information about our rentals from them. Just basic things were met with such attitude and arrogance. Complete disorganization too... both ladies clearly don't work together or know what happens when the other isn't around. I'm almost embarrassed for them. Go to the Tuxedo Shop of New York just down the street and they will take care of you and treat you in the most welcoming and professional manner with a beautiful selection of suits to pick from. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars.  I never ever write a review, but this merits one.  How these people are still in business is beyond me.  They are completely unprofessional and untrustworthy, I wish them nothing but the worst and God speed for this place to shut down.  Trust me when I say don't go here, I'll be saving you a headache later.  Here are some pics of my groomsmen with their suits that were supposed to be ready 3 days before the wedding, picked up the day of because they didn't have it ready in time and promised they were the right measurements. read more

Terrible experience. The fitting was very rushed and she doesn't listen about your needs for the suit/tux. I was fitted incorrectly, and the pants ended up ripping when sitting down on a chair at the wedding reception. If you are fitted right, that should not happen. I've never ripped a pair of clothing before. I was told that that's what happens when they are too tight, but that I have to pay $105 to replace them - even though she was the one that fitted me. She wouldn't take any responsibility for the old fabric they are renting or for the way she did the fitting and charged me the $105. I don't think the business has taken the time to invest in newer material in years. read more

I really regret using this place for my groomsmens suits. When I first went they were super nice in person, but communication was a mess after this. Every time we called it was impossible to understand the person who answered, and they also could not understand us. English was their second language, which is absolutely fine, but for an employee answering the phone - it makes a simple phone call such a chore. The groomsmens suits fit them horribly. Every single one of the 6 suits rented fit extremely baggy. Looking back on my pictures, I am so upset. They look so sloppy. All of the guys went in and got measured, I don't get it. When I was there, the owner came out from the back and offered to upgrade me to the better of the 2 suits they offer. I thought that was really nice of him, and left a deposit that they said I would get back after all the groomsmen returned their suits. I still haven't gotten my deposit back, and when you call, no one speaks English. I finally got the owner on the line, after going back and forth with him, he told me that he does not know if he refunded me or not! He has to look for more paperwork, and I should come in. So irritating when you are busy. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. read more

This place would get 0 stars if I did not have to give one to write this review. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! This place makes the process sooooo difficult!! As a company that rents tuxes you have to know groomsmen are not all in the same location most of the time. To Require someone to come in and pay is Absurd. Particularly when that someone lives in central New Jersey. NOT to mention, what's the point of making a person fill out a form for payment, losing that form! And then having them fill it out again, just to find out THE DAY OF PICK UP that a signature is required to charge the card on the form submitted. Not to mention rush someone to get all of this taken care of at 11AM because you want the close at 2. THIS PLACE IS INCONVENIENT, UNPROFESSIONAL, AND I URGE YOU ALL TO SUPPORT A BETTER BUSINESS? RENT THE RUNWAY IS MORE CONVENIENT. And this is from the girlfriend of the guy having to deal with this for a good friends wedding. Worst company I had to deal with for my wedding. They talked nasty to my wife. I will never recommend this company.

My brother got married on September 5th and I wish he had told me where he was getting all the groomsmen fitted. I've probably been fitted for a tuxedo at least 3 other times so at least I'm familiar with how this works. When I went to Bell Formal Tuxedo, you're greeted by a middle-aged woman with glasses, and you wish you could go anywhere else based on her nasty attitude and general disregard for consumer questions or opinions. Of course, when I get my tuxedo, here's what was wrong: 1) the white shirt was at least two sizes bigger than what I am (size small) 2) the pants were baggy like something out of a bad 1980's movie. 3) the jacket and pants should've been slim fit, but of course they weren't, based on how the pants fit; which I mentioned above. 4) The worst part? My brother picked up my suit, and it didn't have shoes! He gave it to me on Friday, and the wedding was Saturday. Obviously I wish I had tried it on sooner, but then their shop was closed the whole weekend because of Labor Day. Fine, not a huge deal and I guess I understand a store can be closed for the weekend right before a holiday. The biggest kicker was when I when in to return my tuxedo. Not only did this rude lady forget my shoes, but she made it sound like I was stiffing her from shoes that she never gave me. We had a brief back-and-forth over how she would lose money on shoes that were not being returned. You can't lose money on something you never gave me in the first place. Like I said, worst tuxedo rental experience ever. Thankfully, it didn't ruin the day of the wedding. But do yourself a huge favor and don't even try to justify spending your time or money in this type of establishment. read more

I completely agree with the overall comments about the terrible service at this place. The person who I guess is the owner is one of the most condescending, dismissive and just downright nastiest people I have dealt with in a SERVICE establishment. It's as if she doesn't need customers to keep her doors open for business by the way she speaks to you. If you don't really want to know how you look/feel in the clothes, don't ask your customers. If you insist on asking don't ridicule them or put them down when they disagree with your opinion. The only saving grace in this place is the other woman ( who speaks mostly Spanish) who seems to understand what customer service is all about and does her best to make up for the unprofessionalism of the woman in charge. After renting a tux from this place (my 4th time) I decided to give them a rating on yelp and to my surprise, I noticed 7 one star ratings, I have no idea how in the world this could be possible, I had to double check to see if I had the right place. On all 4 occasions that I rented tuxedos here, including my Sons wedding party, the owners, I presume they are husband and wife, were very sociable and friendly. This time there was a younger lady waiting on me, I presume she was their daughter, this lady had a great sense of humor and made the whole measuring experience very enjoyable. As far as the Tuxedo, they did a fantastic job in tailoring, I would never go anywhere else for a tuxedo. I'm wondering if these 1 star reviews are made by competitors, mmmmmmmm read more
