Was excited to try this place, well that didn't last long. Way too expensive for what you get. I ordered a Caesar salad for $14.00 what I got was a dinner plate with lettuce that barely covered the plate a layer across and also the 2 panini sandwiches with a bag of chips and cup of soup $48.00.I don't mind paying for a nice delicious dinner, but your overpriced picnic lunch is absurd. This a cute little Deli / restaurant. Serving pizza and Italian food. Tried a few times now and we haven't been impressed. Hate to say it but the pizza very similar to Costco. Floppy, sauce lacks zest or depth and is just very mediocre. Same for the spaghetti and meatballs. We did however like the Italian beef. The gravy has good flavor and is seasoned well. Its a small place with a little bakery case and small deli type food and some grocery along the wall like pasta and sauce to cookies and chocolate. They have basically sandwiches and soups then after 4pm you can order the pasta and other entrees. I didn't know that when I came to get lunch that the other entrees weren't available and the pasta was what I was going for. O well. I decided on a meatball sandwich the meatballs were good in size and soft textured and the sauce wasn't salty like others just wish more cheese on top and you get chips and a pickle. My friend got the mel mel sandwich and said it was good in Flavor just was super hot in temperature and should have been toasted less. We got 2 desserts the tiramisu was creamy and full of flavor and chocolate mouse fudgy type cake was decadent and rich if it doesn't cure your chocolate craving I don't know what would. The best authentic style Italian we have ever had. First the building and ambience is so nice. Very warm and cozy. The staff were helpful, attentive and friendly. But the food....we got pinsa pizzas and they were amazing. Super thin, crispy bubbly crust. Fresh toppings and gooey mozzarella. Everything was so fresh and homemade. Had a business lunch here and will definitely be back. Small, but cozy with wonderful staff and excellent food. Had cheese sticks as an appetizer and Uncle Joey's Italian Beef Sandwich for a meal. Wow!! We were there for a late lunch a few days ago. Soups were very good. Both sandwiches ordered by us were great. My wife had a mild sausage sandwich and I had a mild sausage and beef combo. I think I would order mine next time without the marinara sauce. It was good but the mild giardiniera was just the right topping and could stand on its own. Stopped in for lunch. Heard good things, have seen the great Yelp rating, been meaning to check it out. Being a restaurant and deli, after looking at the menu online, I made a poor assumption that though nothing on the menu suited me, I would be able to order a custom deli sandwich. I was wrong. (and a tad bit dumb) Meatball sandwiches have never interested me. I worked for Cousins Subs a long time ago and have never gotten over their meatballs. That smell! And dont think most other places, with their frozen balls, would be any better. I'm not a fan of italian sausage, never have been. And the italian beefs I've had have been mediocre, including one of the top rated italian beef places in Milwaukee. So, I was going to order a salad. I'm sure it would have been good. I said "screw it" and copied my wife's order; An italian beef, adding mozzarella, and placing hot giardiniera on the side. Took less than 10 minutes to get food. Orders sat in window for a bit. Not a big concern but disappointing given the amount of staff and level of current activity. Immediately you could see, smell, and taste the quality. The mozzarella was phenomenal, not sure how you could have sandwich without it. The beef was 100% fresh, tender, sliced thin, and seasoned perfectly. The bun was really fresh but not great at holding up to the wet, juicy beef. Plus, it had sesame seeds I could do without but not a real issue. By far the best italian beef I've had. All in all, this is great place to eat in a town with plenty of mediocre options. Many of which are way overrated here on Yelp. Bella Gusto has earned its rating and I hope the quality remains and the clientelle remains plentiful. Next time, maybe I'll try the meatball sandwich. ;) read more

Incredible service and incredible food! Such a pleasant surprise after having some disappointing food in downtown Oconomowoc lately. The meatball sub/sandwich was delicious, one of the best I've had. Food is so consistently good, service is friendly, not always fast, but they'll let you know upfront if they're busy. it's always clean, and just a really great atmosphere. Visiting Oconomowoc and found the place on Yelp for an early dinner. The Caesar is delicious, the wedding soup a little too salty and the chicken bacon penne fresh and excellent - not too heavy, high quality pasta and rich sauce. It's a little confusing when you walk in - there's not signs to order at the counter or what you're supposed to do if you're not a local regular! None of the staff including the owner (blond lady clearly running things) saw or acknowledged me for a good ten minutes, but once I approached one of the gals at the counter, the young woman was very warm, fast and efficient. Absoutely dont go here. The owner is a loud mouth out of control person. Wanted it delivered and she was to busy to hear me than it sat for 45 min till we called. A gal finally delivered it (she was awesome by the way. To bad she has to work there) I gave her a credit card she couldnt run it I than gave her a $100 bill and she grabbed it and left. Called back to see if we were going to get the change the owner than snapped at me hung up on me. Walked into the establishment where we were at caused a huge scene threw food on the floor made a mess left that than walked out and flipped us off. I honestly cant beleive how she acted. Wow. This was certainly an awesome find! My friends and I met in Oconomowoc as a halfway point for dinner, and Bella Gusto was the icing on the cake for dessert! The young lady behind the counter was so friendly, energetic and helpful. She explained what each dessert item was and where it came from, a perfect sales person. I love cannolis and there was only one left, so she offered to pull out more shells and pipe some up for me if I wanted. The self-control had to kick in, so I only purchased the one; but the option of having more was fantastic. I didn't eat the dessert until I got back into Madison, and it was to die for!!! You must try their pizza, they have the most delicious pizza, meatball subs, paninis and salads too! Need a few groceries and some desserts for a gathering, they have it. Tom and Renee have done a great job with the offerings to cater to a wide variety of customers. Want a good glass of wine?
