This was the filthiest place I've been to in a long time. Every table was dirty, and the floors looked like they hadn't been swept or vacuumed in at least a month. My order was also missing items. When I went back to the counter, I was first told they should be sitting by the register, then I was told they were actually in the back. The whole experience was disorganized and frustrating. To make matters worse, there weren't even any napkins available. We were just visiting the area, and after this experience, I'm glad we don't live here. read more

After discovering my fav coffee chain ever (Stone Creek Coffee), I realized that there's a Bruegger's Bagels attached to it every time. So I had to go in and try! I got the smokehouse brisket, which is a plain toasted bagel with the most delicious melty jalapeño cream cheese, eggs, smoked beef brisket, and cheddar cheese. This was piping hot, pretty good, and really filling! TBH wasn't the biggest fan of the beef brisket, but that cream cheese made up for it. I couldn't finish the whole thing though as eventually it got too heavy. The store also had a large window into the bakery itself, which is so awesome! read more

The food here is very good for the price you pay, although the food service is severely lacking, my first thought is why are you so unfriendly at 7 in the morning, if you're not a morning person don't work the mornings. I've only been here twice and each time the service was terrible, long wait time when your the only one in line/store, no greeting when I entered. I'm not asking for the world, but friendliness would be nice, especially when the kiosk asks me for a tip. Love the food, store seems clean but again customer service could use some revision. read more

Worst customer service ever! Bagels are good, but people skills are the worst. Rarely a smile or nice word. Slow as could be, and when I left without saying thank you because of my frustration and annoyance, (which I RARELY do), the gal yells "you're welcome"! I know I was there about an hour before closing (1 PM) but I managed to find 7 bagels I liked. The cashier was delightful and informative, letting me know if I got 7 instead of 6, it was less expensive. The kid who was pushing the mop when I walked in, was even less enthusiastic about putting my bagels in a bag than mopping. I did not see him put gloves on before handling the bagels. Who puts 2 extra cost sugar maple bagels in the same bag as my everything bagel? By the time I got home, all bagels smelled and tasted like onion. Not the Brueggers I remembered. I'm new to the Oconomowoc area and stopped at Bruegger's Bagels 3 times and the first time I waited, however line was not moving, so I left. Second time, line was long again, so I left. All 3 times I was there, the store appeared understaffed. I went to Panera and was very happy both times. The 3rd time to Bruegger's I waited - it took 15 minutes to get my order and I won't be going back - I will go to Panera. I ordered the 13 bagels and 2 tubs of cream cheese and the price listed on the board was $18.99, so was surprised when my order came to over $25. When I inquired to the price, I was informed that some bagels cost more - up to 90 cents more each bagel with my order and bagels I received were not worth the price at all and the price increase was not easily apparent to me, until I ordered, thus not thrilled about this - at Panera the price that is listed on the overhead board, is what you pay. Plus, the cream cheese tubs are 6.5oz, where at Panera they are 8oz. When the order was getting ready, I didn't notice that the bagels were being sliced, so I asked if they were and I was told no, so I asked if they could be sliced. The reaction from the staff was surprising to me, one staff member asking what the problem was, with another stating with a roll of the eyes and a tone in her voice, "She wants them sliced." Granted, I didn't ask for them to be sliced, however, in my opinion, common customer service to ask a customer this - especially at a bagel shop and I felt this was not asked, to not have the employees have to do the slicing. This should be asked with every customer order. At Panera, they ask if you want them sliced and have the option in the kiosks when you order that way too. The staff did not immediately slice my order, instead continued with other orders and when they did slice the bagels, body language was apparent that they were not happy, with throwing the bagels back in the box and a comment when I was handed my order for the future to make sure I say I want them sliced - putting it on the customer, not the staff to ask. It would have been nice to hear when being handed the bagels something to the affect, "Sorry, I should have inquired if you wanted them sliced." Overall, bagels are too expensive for what you get, pricing is misleading, wait was too long, staff was not pleasant and lacking customer service. read more

The cinnamon sugar bagel was very good and the rosemary and olive oil bagel fantastically savory. I wouldn't say this place was exceptional if it wasn't in such a cool location and with such friendly staff. This location is connected to a great little coffee shop and a book store. It is very unique and quite lovely for a strip mall bagel stop. read more

I am visiting East Lansing for a little while and my sister said that Bruegger's is one of her favorite places to go. She recommended that I try the Western breakfast bagel and let me tell you, it was so good! I have never tried something like it anywhere else. I do wish the chipotle sauce would have been spicy but other than that, I have no complaints. Service was good too! read more

Forgot my boys order. Terrible customer service. They forgot to make it or something or gave it to someone else.

I was there to get bagels for a meeting, when they started putting bagel into a paper bag I was shocked, I thought perhaps they were using that to collected them prior to slicing them. NOPE!! That is how they were giving them to me, a very thin and now grease spotted bag of unsliced bagels without a mention of knives or napkins. It all turned out OK because I dropped them in the garbage on my way out and drove by Einstein on my way to my meeting and got the professional looking bagel pack I expected from for about the same price. read more

A bagel shop without bagels is a _________, because it's not a bagel shop without any. The oven is broken here more than one can imagine! They tend to have tons of the bagels that no one wants and are always out of the one people desire and the oven issue doesn't help. If there were another option in town I'd use it. It wasn't just one encounter, there's been muitiple times where i've experienced terrible customer service. The young guy that took my sisters order today rolled his eyes and yelled at her that he couldn't hear her and she was really speaking up. i've been coming here for years and wish there was another bagel place to use. The food is decent but some of the staff have horrible attitudes and are just basically unpleasant and make you not want to eat there. I stopped in today and the same guy was a bit of a jerk. I asked for a bagel to be served open face and he put it in a to-go tray's. When I said it's to go he snapped at me and said "how am I supposed to do that?" I was kind of taken aback and the lady next to him sad "just wrap it separately". this guy is a continual bad vibe coming into the restaurant. I come into this restaurant, a lot and I know people recognize me as a regular. Three days a week after swimming at the YMCA. This guy puts out a general negativity that makes you not want to come into the restaurant there's simply no reason to have a bad attitude when a customer has a request that's a tiny bit different. They probably don't realize how much business they lose from his attitude. i'm to the point that I don't want him to serve me when I come in, but then I'm uncomfortable asking for someone else as it stands out. So essentially he ruins my nice calm morning experience for myself and sometimes with the other five members of my family. other people in the community are aware of him and his bad attitude, so it's not just me today i drove a few more miles to get a bagel in downtown Oconomowoc. Worker started making the bagel incorrectly. When I tried to correct his mistake, he told me that I would need to pay for the bagel he was currently making plus the corrected one. He was also extremely rude about it. This is a place where my partner and I have a lot of sentimental memories, so it was so sad to visit and receive such rude service. I wish I could give a 0 starts after todays visit. Poor staff only had 2 workers managing the register and the line of 15+ people. Although I take pity on the staff, I also had to explain to one of them how to make the skinny zesty egg white on the menu as they continued to look up and read the sign. Completely disappointed. Being a long time fan of this location I am disappointed in the new management and how they run their establishment. In the past they would keep their door unlocked before they open so customers could buy Early. This is no longer the case and I have understand I can't be upset with that. However what really disappoints me is when they did open there were only 5 choices in bagels ready. When I asked how much longer the wait would be the rushed manger said 10 mins. I did not wait. But this should be fixed if you want early people to come back. read more

More interested in closing at 2:00 (not sure why this early when people would come all afternoon. At least they used to be able to.) In the interest of full disclosure I moved here from New York so I have abnormally high bagel standards. I was hopeful that the presence of a bagel store in Oconomowoc would meet my bagel consumption needs, but I was wrong. I found the bagels at Brueggers to be excessively soft. They lacked the hard outer crust that a good bagel must have and were very small. My greatest criticism is the absence of "toppings" on their bagels. A good everything bagel is covered in salt crystals, garlic, onions, etc. The everything bagel at Bruegger's is sparsely populated by a few ingredients. Very disappointing. Service is quick and friendly. Athmosphere is a bit to franchisey for me, but it isn't too bad. read more

Bruegger's Bagels was hopping on a recent Saturday morning. My husband and I stopped in after doing a 5K, thinking we'd grab a quick bite, to find they were bursting at the seams. Apparently the people of "The 5-0's" really like this place. I got the sundried tomato and basil / egg combo bagel (on a fresh Parmesan Asiago bagel) - and it was delicious. Everything was made to order. The guy at the counter was a little grumpy that I asked for an additional 6 rosemary / olive oil bagels to go (in his defense, there was a line backing up, but the gal who made my bagel sandwich didn't ask if I wanted anything else). However, that was the least of my worries. Add an iced coffee to the mix and you've got one heck of a refueling breakfast that gives you some bang for your buck. BTW - the rosemary / olive oil bagels are EXCELLENT! Overall, we'll be stopping here again for sure. read more

I just got on the wifi for the first time as I was waiting for my order and I can't even load a webpage. It's only a convenience to have wifi if it works. This place is great- and it is right next to the best coffee shop in town. The bagels are great- but everyone has different tastes for what they like. They are pretty quick about making your food. The prices are pretty reasonable and its a great place to stop and get a snack between meals. We stop here and get a dozen bagels everytime we leave town because my husband is in the Army and we never seem to live near a bagel shop... so we ALWAYS stock up. I do wish, however that this company would ship bagels via online orders.... that would be amazing and I'd never by bagels from anywhere else! read more

Crap. I don't know what to give this place. I'm hovering between 2 and 3 stars. For starters - I was quite confused on where to go, how to order, etc. It seems a little backwards, but whatever, not that big of a deal - I figured it out. I ordered the Thai Peanut Chicken bagel sandwich - there was nothing grilled or chicken like about the disgusting and gelatinous thing that graced my bagel. Pretty sure that can't be called chicken. I will say, the rest of the ingredients were delightful. Crisp lettuce, cucumbers and sprouts. The cream cheese, bagel and spicy peanut sauce were lovely. I might request this sandwich with sliced turkey in the future. I was with my daughter so I ordered the trio hoping to share with her. Unfortunately she wasn't interested. The tomato basil soup was so ridiculously thick and stayed annoyingly hot. I ended up taking it home and re-purposing it as pasta for my daughters lunch today. It was excellent for that. Finally, the dining area of this place is quite clean - the bathrooms, however, are disgusting. They really need a professional wipe down. Service was fine enough. One of the employees was incredibly loud and unprofessional - talking about smoking two packs of cigarettes or something odd. I want to give this place another go - I've been to a Bruegger's before and had a much nicer experience. While I'm in no hurry to head back to this one, I'm sure I will give it another shot in the future. read more

As a 22 year resident of Oconomowoc I have done business with this establishment many more times than I can count. When my last visit was very disappointing due to out-of-stocks in numerous varieties, I chalked it up as a fluke. I visited this morning to pick up bagel sandwiches for my wife and I. Now I am not in the bagel business but common sense tells me that 8am on a Sunday would be pretty much prime bagel selling time. Well, as others have noted and I had experienced in my last visit, when I asked the girl waiting on me for the types I was seeking (Pumpernickel and Asiago Parmesan) her reply was simply " no we are out of those". Not "let me check on how long it will be" or anything of the sort (hey Bruegger's- train your people!) Disappointed, I asked decided upon second choices and while waiting for my sandwiches realized that they were OUT of 5 types! At 8am on a Sunday! What are you guys doing here! Your job is to sell bagels! Next time I will take a pass on Bruegger's. read more

I went again on Tuesday, this time with my husband. He loved his Pastrami and Swiss breakfast sandwich, and I changed to the Salmon breakfast sandwich. Love, love, love! I stuck to my favorite, onion bagel, but hubby had the "everything" bagel. Mind you, this is a laid-back, "I don't care too much, I just want some breakfast" kind of guy. I was shocked when he kept commenting on his Pastrami sandwich, but mostly, his gushing over the "everything" bagel! He said he's had a lot of bagels (doctors bring boxes in to work from another establishment) but nothing has come close to Bruegger's. He never talks about food, ever (much to my dismay at times if I slave over a special dish, lol) but his comments on Bruegger's will ensure we will find Madison's location & HE will be bringing boxes to work because in his words "it'll blow those other stale, crappy bagels away." Kudos again! It wasn't a one-hit wonder! Madison location, PLEASE measure up or I know I'll be making trips back to Oconomowoc, 72 miles or not. read more
