We decided to try this place at the last minute, on a Sunday, about 4:30. We had heard so much about their pizza, we just had to try it. We were not the first ones in, but the bar and dining room were not crowded. We were welcomed like old friends, which was nice. We chose a table near the bar, and as time went on, the place filled up. It appears many regulars like it here, and Bar Dice was banging on the bar often. We were told they were known for their lasagna, pizza, and garlic bread, so we started with the garlic bread, which was thick and very buttery. But I did not taste much garlic until I was told there was a shaker of it on the table, and I could add more myself if I wanted. Done. We then ordered a sausage pizza, which came out super hot (yay!) with really crispy crust, just the way it should be. But the sausage was minimal and kind of bland. All in all it was an OK pizza but not our favorite. The entrances were steps so accessibility is not great. The bar area is crowded even for walking. Apparently, business is really good, so I have to assume it is more my taste that wasn't matched. I'm glad we tried it just to see what everyone talks about. read more

Last evening went there and eat in , ordered Baked Cod ; which I received it it was warm not hot right from the kitchen. About a month prior to this I ordered take out (baked cod ) Didn't check the order until I got home and it was deep fried. Called up and complained to the manager who said I could come back and he would make it right . Got back there the cook was going to only give me the baked cod not the whole meal (so I complained ) and got the whole meal . Some time latter I gave them a second try on take out . Ordered the same thing this time the order was right but it was cold . After two take out tries and one eat in , I think I've given them enough leave way , I've had it with them . We ordered over the phone and then drove to pick up and bring home. They have a nice takeout door to streamline your experience. Our order was for an Italian salad, garlic bread, and the North Lake Inn Special pizza. The salad was good but needed a few more toppings. The North Lake Inn Famous Italian dressing was a nice compliment to the salad. As takeout, we got 2 dressing containers to go which was good for our group of 4. The pizza had sausage, pepperoni, black olives, onion, and mushroom. The thin crust was crispy and cut in pie shape. Lots of toppings. It was good. The bread is a fav. We had two pieces and cut each in half and it was more than enough for the 4 of us. Very, very buttery so make sure you have lots of napkins. The person checking us out was very nice. Probably a 3.5 for me but rounded up because of fun, friendly service. If you really want the feel of an Up North bar complete with Miller Lite wildlife mirrors, wood paneling and a huge horseshoe Formica bar look no further. We visited with a friend who lives nearby and generally enjoyed it. We've already covered the vintage interior - no frills but very clean. I'm told they have the recipes from the original Mama Mia's so if that place was your jam you'll want to head over. We started with garlic bread - now, this is subjective because people who love Mama Mia's garlic bread REALLY love it. I am not in that club - I find it oily as hell and not garlicky at all. They give you huge portions though and our server recommended getting a side of meat sauce for dipping. Do that - their meat sauce is 100% delicious. Probably the most flavorful red sauce I've had in a long time. We had pizza too - it was plenty fine in the way that pizza is. It looked like a premade frozen crust which is a shame. They have your standard macro beers and you can get (fairly crappy) wine by the 1/2 carafe for cheap. Overall, prices are reasonable. Service was great - fun and a little sassy which I enjoy. Boyfriend ordered the chicken special, all you can eat. Been here many, many times, chicken is yummy! Their pizzas are also very good from what I remember, although haven't had pizza is a few months. Tonight I ordered an Italian beef sandwich with fries. I get a BBQ sandwich. Bartender left the wrong sandwich with the fries (which were cold) and indicated the Italian beef (with onions, peppers and melted mozzarella cheese) would be out shortly. Ten minutes or so later I get a dried roll (with burnt top) with cheese melted into it with cold beef on top. No onions, no peppers, not hot fries . . . I had two bites - The bartender asked if I wanted a box; I replied no thank you, I didn't like it. She said she would take it off the bill. Charged $18 but only credited $10 something . . . I ask why the difference? Something about "extras"? I said but I didn't eat it or the extras and bartender immediately said, with an attitude, "I'm trying to make it right MAME"! I wasn't being rude, just trying to state the obvious. The attitude alone, even after I said sorry, not trying to offend in any way, was atrocious! This is our families Friday dinner spot when we go out. The pizza is thin and crispy and has a lot of flavor. The dinner salad is AMAZING... we always ask for extra pepperoni and cheese for our kids and they are very accommodating. The seating area is smaller so with kids I feel like we are a skeptical but we have seen a lot of kids as well. I love to have a great cocktail or nice glass of wine with dinner but this isn't the place for that. North lake has become one of our favorite pizza places... we drive about 25 min to go. read more

Tasty evening! While North Lake Inn wouldn't win for decor and ambiance, the food and service we received was fantastic! The front area is a medium-sized bar and the back is a relatively small dining area. We were seated right away; service was fast and extremely friendly and polite. Both waitresses we interacted with were incredibly sweet and fun to chat with as well as frequentlychecking in to refill our drinks. The food came out in about 30 minutes; very fresh and flavorful thin-crust pizza! The sauce was excellent; a very bright flavor and great texture. Awesome cheese. The price was on par for a large pizza with two different sides of fresh toppings. Lots of topping options to choose from, as well as gluten free if requested. My brother got a different dish and devoured it so fast that I don't even remember what it was, so I'm sure it was thoroughly enjoyed. I'd say four stars just due to the ambiance and seating comfort; extremely dated walls/decor and could use some upkeep. The seating would be very comfortable for anyone with back issues as they were older, stackable metal-leg/framed chairs. They were very accommodating finding a way to make our 5wo baby comfortable though, which was very sweet and worth noting! On-site parking, decent menu selection and reasonable prices for the most part. I'd be interested to see in the future if the higher-priced pasta dishes are on par with the quality (most were at least $15+). We will definitely be back for or order the pizza for pickup! tl;dr Worst service experience of my life! My wife and I have been fairly regular patrons here. The food is good, and generally the service has always been, if not exactly pleasant, at least acceptable. But after tonight's fiasco we will not return. We ordered 2 meals for carry out. I picked them up and came home. We opened the bag, and there was no garlic bread. If you've eaten here before you know that the garlic bread is a big part of the attraction. So no big deal, mistakes happen, and we only live 10 minutes or so away. So I call them up and explain the situation. In the background while I'm on the phone I hear someone telling the person I'm talking to that the bread was in the bag. I assure them that it wasn't. So finally they ask if I want a credit or to come back for the bread. I tell them I'll come back to get the bread. I take my 10 minute drive and arrive at the carry out door. I explain to the "gentleman" who greeted me that I was here to pick up my bread. He walks away and comes back and hands me the bread without saying a word. No "Sorry about that." or anything. I turn to walk away and realize that there's only one bread in the bag. I turned around and tell the guy that there's only one bread but we had two orders (every order comes with their garlic bread). This is how the conversation goes from here: Him: Yeah, the other bread was in the bag. Me: I opened the bag myself and I can assure you that there was no bread in that bag. Him: That's not possible. We don't send out orders without bread. Me: I am telling you that I pulled the staples open on that bag and there was no bread to be found. Him: Well, do you want to go get everything and bring it back here and prove it. Me (stunned): Are you serious? Me (starting to boil): Are you saying I'm lying to you to get extra bread? Him: shrugs Me (possibly experiencing a psychotic break): I couldn't even eat two of your garlic breads! He: starts to walk away. Me: We won't be back. This is absolute horse***t! I take the 10 minute drive back home, fuming the whole way. I explain the story to my wife, and she immediately gets on the phone and calls and asks to speak to a manager. After explaining the situation to him, he laughs and tells her, "We're spending too much time on this. You've spoken to 3 of my employees already." Then he laughs and tells her he doesn't have time for this because they're very busy. I have never been one to complain at a restaurant. In my more than 50 years, there might be one or two cases where I actually returned food or complained about service. And it's not even like I was upset when I called to say that they forgot the bread. Mistakes happen, and I was willing to drive another 20 minutes to take care of the issue, not expecting anything in return other than possibly an apology. I had driven through North Lake perhaps a hundred times and always presumed that since it was close to Sussex, Chenequa and Hartland, that it was a pricey little town with quality restaurants. Nope. This place has seen better days. I was afraid the sagging floor in the dining room was going to collapse, every time a large person walked by. The place is more like a backwoods bar, so don't expect top notch alcoholic beverages. The house wine was especially bad. We ordered pizzas and our guest ordered a fish fry. Neither pizza had any real flavor. The sauce, sausage and pepperoni were all very bland. The crust, although home made, was rather flavorless. Our guest's potato pancake was cold and greasy, the worst he's had in a long while. Our server was friendly but was obviously over stretched. The other server, wearing camo overalls, fit in with the bar perfectly. Think of it this way and you'll be less disappointed: it is not an Italian restaurant; rather, it is a bar that serves Italian themed food. You are not in Pewaukee, Hartland or Chenequa, you are in the backwoods. Lower your standards and it is easier to swallow. read more

We stopped in on a warm muggy night because we heard the pizza was pretty good and I read the reviews on Yelp. We ordered the cheese garlic bread as an appetizer, it was the best I've ever had. The pizza was a typical thin crust with toppings, crunchy with a nice edge to finish each slice. The atmosphere was a bar/ restaurant with friendly locals all saying hello to one another. I was very impressed with the waitress who got me the wifi pass code. That made the wait for the pizza go by quickly. Nice place, if go back and meet some friends. This is local establishment to be sure! Walking in you are greeted by an enormous U shaped bar with high tops to the left and right, dining room in the rear. Stopped here with my daughter, 12 and wife while our youngest was a soccer practice nearby. Bar tender and staff are no nonsense, not discourteous, but clearly much more at ease with local faces they know. Our drink came quickly, and order taken by our server almost immediately after. Pizza, Linguine Alfredo and a broasted chicken dinner is what was on tap tonight! It took about 40 min for our food to come out on a Tuesday with very lite dining traffic. Pizza crust was crazy thin, but only crunchy on the edges as it was too laden down with sauce and toppings to hold up. Cheese was tasty but needs more caramelizing to really pop. Sauce and Alfredo were both sort of bland. Chicken was not very crispy either. Not much that really impressed here other than being a quaint local eatery in Northlake. read more

First time there for us although our friends have been there before. Worst service I've had in a restaurant in a long time. Wasn't real busy got there at 630 on a Friday night, seated right away. Sat for 20 minutes until we flagged down the hostess to ask for a waitress, after 5 minutes our waitress who I will not name took our drink order, another 15 minutes passed with no drinks, went to the bar ourselves to place our order. The bartender had it sitting in the car side of the bar and one of the drink orders was incorrect. Again had to flag our hostess down to get our waitress to take our order after more time had passed.Order was taken. While waiting for food we needed more drinks. Waitress never returned to check up on us, we went to bar ourselves to order another round. After receiving meal waitress never returned to see how it was going. Just came back to drop bill off. In my opinion the Cod is the best in the Hartland area and wife said the Lasagna and garlic bread was exceptional! Always loved Mama's Pizza (previously Mama Mias) on 77th & Burleigh in Milwaukee. Sad when it closed a few years back. A friend told me that the North Lake Inn was owned by same owner, with identical menu. My wife and I went to check it out. Entered restaurant and stood by hostess podium. No one acknowledged our presence even though it wasn't busy, so we seated ourselves. Ok. Pleased to get menu and it was identical to Mama's. Five empty tables around us with dirty dishes and leftover food on them. Ordered a 16oz beer and a wine. Never came. When it did the beer was about 8 oz. Ridiculous. Salad was iceberg with three pieces of tomato and bottled Italian dressing. Garlic bread swing and a miss. Pizza was nothing like Mama's in anyway. Hour later tables all still dirty, waitress bitching she only had two hands to other waiter. Stay away. This place sucks. read more

Very upset with my experience. The customer service was completely rude. I have an extreme allergy to gluten and I had specified multiple times that I wanted gluten free crust and the employee seemed to be hard of hearing or maybe even stoned. I called back to make sure the crust was for sure gluten free and not to my surprise, the order was incorrect. I spoke to a different employee and reclarified the order. When I went to pick up the pizza, the orange haired geech I had my initial call with was extremely rude to my face. I had my friend taste the pizzas and there was no significant taste in the consistency of the regular and gluten free crust. I went back in, to finally make sure and the orange goes "what's wrong with it". I'm bewildered that I was spoken to this way and will not be returning. I wish I could rate zero stars. This is the best pizza place in the country! Better than Chicago better than California and better than New York. I dream about there pizza and garlic bread, and I buy extra for breakfast the next morning and so does my mother. The lasagna is a cheese lovers dream and the spaghetti is my wife's favorite. Any body that doesn't agree is obviously in cahoots with Docs Dry Dock. This is a small and very well kept establishment with employees that have been there for multiple decades. They are well known for their pizza so I tried that. It was OK but nothing great. I actually think the crust was a frozen one. My friend ordered the shrimp linguine and was not at all impressed.
