Best Pizza I have ever eaten. Friendly staff and very accommodating. Hubs and I shared a salad and small pizza and left stuffed. Pizza had hatch green chilies, pepperoni, sausage and Canadian Bacon. Young man- very talented handed me a coloring (randomly) as we walked in- he's got an amazing eye for color & taste... Picture below.... It's beautiful and so is he. Food was good. We were seated across from the kitchen.... I watched the "Chef" make at least 8 pizzas... only once (1 time ) he put a glove on his right had to apply tomatoes to a pizza then he removed the glove ... Then I watched him touch his head, adjust his glass, touch the other "Chef on the shoulder and still smear the cheese and hold the pepperonis palmed in one hand and apply with the other hand .... NO ONE WAS WEARING GLOVES IN THE KITCHEN AND THEY ALL WERE HANDLING RAW FOOD!!!! I informed the waitress and she said " I know ". !,, WTF ??? !!! I'm sorry but this place needs to be inspected!! Stopped for lunch on our way to Denver. We had pizza. Crust was really good. And a meatball sandwich. Both were great. The staff was friendly and attentive. Enjoyed checking out the sports pictures and posters. Will definitely stop here again next time we are driving through Raton. Hopefully they will have Miller light next time. read more

We stopped by Bruno's on the way from ABQ to Denver and promptly fell in love with this place! Charming ambiance, clean bathrooms (essential on a road trip), friendly, knowledgeable service and the food is BEYOND. WE started with the fried pickles which were not overwrought or too salty. Fresh, hot, and crispy with fresh ranch to dip in. We also ordered two pizzas and the crust was incredible. Somewhere in between thin crust and hand stretched, there was a nice bite and a solid platform for robust marinara and lots and lots of cheese. We wolfed down both pizzas in short order. The best part was the two-pizza stand which our son termed "pizza bunk beds". A neighboring table ordered calzones and they looked so good that my husband started game planning our return. Heading back to Denver on a road trip and stopped by this little gem in Raton. Great fried pickle chips, fries and pizzas. The dough is so light, fluffy and crispy/crunchy. Ingredients look and taste fresh. Very reasonable pricing on draft beers. Kris who served us was so friendly and knowledgeable. She mentioned they hand cut the ingredients every morning and prepared the dough same day. The restaurant looks like those we'd find in our mtn towns. Small, simple and clean. We had the aloha pizza and swapped the green onion for green chili. We also had the Bruno's pizza which is their version of the supreme. All so tasty and I wished we lived closer. Brunos pizza was one of the only places open after 8:00pm in Raton on a Friday night. This place was recommended by the owner at Raton Motor Inn. Everything we ordered was good. The pizzas, wings and other sides. My favorite was their dough on their pizza. They have two pizza size's. The large is not entirely a large on my scale. On another note, I do wish that the waitress would have suggested a pitcher when some of us ordered the same beer. The option isn't listed in the menu. We stopped by to take a break during a tough snowy drive on a Wednesday on the way to Santa Fe. They warmly welcomed us and our pup inside! The vibe inside is uncluttered sports themed, with some great vintage memorabilia. Our server was friendly and vivacious. We stopped in unexpectedly on a road trip and first, let me say, very thankful that they were open! We weren't terribly hungry but decided to share some wings and fried pickles while waiting for the massive traffic jam die down. Who knew road construction in the small town of Raton would cause hours of delays? Anywho, I'm thinking we should have ordered a pizza and just taken some home. We didn't though, likely our loss based on the Yelp reviews. The wings were good, per my partner, but nothing special. I was sadly disappointed with the fried pickles - I think it was the slices and the batter that threw me off. I adore fried pickles and had a very hard time even getting remotely close to finishing these. No flavor and a but vinegary. I did appreciate the cider drink option and enjoyed my partner's company and the cider while we waited. One quick note for anyone planning to stop in - I'm not sure the restroom doors lock. I'm giving a 4 star review rather than a 3 because it was closer to 3.5. I love supporting small businesses and wish them the best. I was really hoping for a better overall experience after seeing all the reviews. I'll start with the positives. We had a great waitress! She was attentive and understanding when we asked to be reseated to get away from a table with young, undisciplined kiddos. The pizza crust was great! We ordered the Mediterranean (5/5) and a ham and pineapple (3/5). Unfortunately the ham and pineapple was cooked and then the toppings seemed to be thrown on top as an afterthought . They were warm but didn't feel cooked at all. Now for the not so good. The wings were horrible. Soggy, room temperature and just overall kind of gross. It seemed like they were frozen, slightly heated and had a bottled sauce was poured on top. they may have been better if they were fried or baked a little longer to have some kind of texture. The cheese ravioli was also really sad. Again, frozen, hard and underwhelming. I wish there was a little more of a personal touch to them. Overall, I would say opt for their pizza. read more

I have not been to Raton in quite a few years. I'm in town on business. I was told by the hotel I'm staying at to go to Bruno's. For lunch I tried a green chile, pepperoni and mushroom pizza, wings and a house salad. It all was great. The crust was crispy, sauce tasty, salad was fresh and the wings were crispy as well. I re-visited here with co-workers on Thursday, June 2, 2022. This time I received the exact pizza I ordered. I couldn't remember what I ate on my previous visit, so I ordered the Bruno's special. Turns out that's the exact same pie I was served last time by accident (I'd ordered a New Mexican). The Bruno's Special has tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, country sausage, Canadian bacon, mushroom, green bell pepper, red onion. The crust wasn't thin or deep dish, but traditional. My crispy crust was just average, but I liked all the toppings they piled on. The waitress kept my water topped off and the pizza had a bit of a wait, since the place was packed on a Thursday. I paid $13 for a 12" pie, a decent price for a pie that will fill you up for sure. My total with tip came out to $17.11. read more

Great pizza but the service was awful. We walked in past the sign at the door that said: Seat Yourself Woman behind the cash register said "sit anywhere you like." We sat at only empty table in the middle of front room. Two waitresses walked by multiple times and never looked at us. They went to other tables and asked if they needed anything or took them their food.. After almost 10 minutes of being ignored we got up and went to cash register to complain to manager. She sent one of the waitresses that had walked by us multiple times who said "I didn't see you there." Service in the past has been hit or miss but this time was a big miss. We would not get the moz sticks again, they're very bland and basic. The wings were good! The salad was delicious but needed more cheese, there was barely any on the salad.
