This salon is a hidden gem in Highwood. They do great straightforward mani and pedis and no chip. The prices are reasonable. If you like being bullied to leave a tip , go here and u will not be disappointed. I paid in cash and when the worker had my change in her hands she asked if she could brake my 20's so she can get some of it herself. Seriously??? Then because I felt victimized, I said no. So she held on to my money and picked up the shop sign and read and pointed to each word on the sign that it would be appreciated to leave a tip. I told her that it would be up to me to decide since she finished my toes and she didn't do my manicure yet. So, she gave me my change back and she yelled at me while she started polishing my fingernails telling me through the manicure how everyone gives her money and that they don't make any money because the owner of the shop gets the money I paid for my manicure and pedicure and they don't make any money. Have you ever heard such nonsense. I asked for the owner name and they said it was on the business card and basically it was the shop number where we were. So no owner present. Then, she acted like she didn't want to finish my manicure even when I paid everything in full. Then instead of placing me to dry my nails by the drying area, she placed a little fan to dry my nails. So I asked if I could get a better place to dry and the dirty looks never stopped and being scorned to be there. Then when it was time to leave, she came and wrapped off my toes dividers and I'm surprised they let me leave with the cheap sandals since I could not put my shoes back on and it was raining outside. The rudest mot angry people I have ever been to and they wanted extra money???? I don't ever write a review, but this does not need to be overlooked by me or anyone else who steps in this shop. Wow, have tried twice here because it is close to home...NEVER again. First off, they are NOT respectful of your time. Doors don't open when sign says they are open AND more importantly they are NOT customer friendly. Actually are down right rude when you come in the door. I have been frequenting Bella Mani for seven years now and would not go anywhere else! Not only are they meticulous but do an excellent job with manicures,pedicures as well as waxing. People complained they were not customer friendly which is totally not true. They do spend approximately 1 and 1/2 hour for a non-chip manicure and pedicure but do an excellent, relaxing job that lasts 3 weeks. Esther, the owner is especially accommodating. The owner is a thief! My wife has gone to this place for nails and waxing since it opened. They have a punch-card system to promote regular customers, etc. My wife had filled one of the cards so she got her free manicure and handed the owner her punch card. My wife had two cards and the woman took one, crossed it out as used. She took the other and actually SWAPPED out another fresh card with LESS punches. My wife looked at it, said, "This isn't my card...and look....it's WET with fresh ink...". The woman said, "It's hot out. Maybe it sweating." The owner's a liar and a THIEF. Do NOT EVER GO there. I have been here a few time and I absolutely love it! I wish my nail technician had a name tag on because she was awesome. They do a wonderful job and all their pedicures come with paraffin wax on your heals and they have never felt softer! Then to end the pedicure while I sat drying my toes she did a nice little massage. I will not go anywhere else to get my toes done! I think a lot of the negative reviews are for previous ownership. I really like this salon and they're always super busy so I know I'm not the only one! Worst mani ever. I was snipped 4 times! Bleeding from 4 fingers is not how I would like to walk away from a "professional" job. I'm the quiet type. I just like to sit there and relax, but the technician kept asking me questions about my family and the like and didn't get the hint when I would respond with 1 word answers and close my eyes. Then when I went to pay, she ran my AMX (which I guess they don't take, no biggie) but she kept insisting she gave me the receipt to sign, and when I showed her it was an invalid card printout, she still pushed that I had the other receipt and I was hiding it from her or something. What the hell is that? The manager (I'm assuming) came over and finished the transaction. Sheesh, unless you want to get cut and accused, stay clear. read more

I'm typically not the type of person to write a negative review especially over nails, but today was not a pleasant experience. I walked in for a mani pedi around 11:40 am expecting that it would take roughly an hour. I left at 1:40, 2 hours for a mani pedi is ridiculous! That's not the only issue; I was told that I should have said something about having no chip on my nails. It took the nail tech, almost 20 min to get my no chip off, I then expressed that I needed to be back at work, and they were very accommodating and brought out another tech to work on getting my no chip polish off. Took the second tech 2 minutes to get the polish off, wish I would have started with her. The nail tech then asks for me to pay, please keep in mind that MON- THURS they have a mani pedi special for 35$, I was told the price is now $40. When I asked for a reason of the extra 5$ they told me it was for the no chip removal. I have never paid extra for removing no chip polish. Then she begins to polish my nails, without trimming my cuticles, which you can see in the image. I was very tempted to walk out. The polish job was also terrible. I generously tipped regardless but will not be returning. read more

I was referred to this place by a friend and I would never go back. The service was awful, I made an appointment for 4:30 and was sitting in the pedicure seat for an hour before I was helped. I told them how much cash I had with me from the beginning to see if I could get no chip and a pedicure. I paid at the beginning of my manicure and the woman doing my nails took the rest of my cash off the table as my nails were drying, counted it in front of me and then called me cheap and took the money. She then proceeded to talk about me while I was still sitting there. It was a very uncomfortable situation, I called afterward and the owner was apologetic but I will NEVER return to this place nor would I ever refer anyone to go here. read more

The negative reviews here are pretty misleading. Judging by the dates, I'm guessing they had some struggles early on, but I've been going to this place now for a couple years and have never had a bad experience. I've bumped into many of my friends there, so they must like the place too. The ladies are super nice and pretty much leave it up to you whether you want to talk or be left alone. I've even sent my 94 year old mother-in-law there to have her nails cut, and they have been very nice to her too. read more

I've been going to Bella Mani for about two years now. Every time I go I have a great experience. The new owner Esther is the kindest lady. Her whole staff are skilled and very polite. They have amazing pedicures, a clean environment and clean tools. I highly recommend this salon! Not to me toon Monday-Thursday 35$ manicure pedicure. Also with every pedicure you receive paraffin on your heels which I love having been a dancer. Glad I did not go by the earlier reviews of this business. I found the owner to be absolutely lovely, just so friendly. There is a wide variety of colors to choose from. They offer you your own individual box to keep the tools they provide for you in so you are using your own tools and not those of anyone else the next time you come in, which I really like for hygienic purposes. I only took advantage of the pedicure which I found was done with skill and the right amount of pressure. She continued to check on me for pressure, temperature and comfort throughout the pedicure. I was also offered a hot towel neck message at the end of my pedicure which was great! They are running a special on a paraffin wax for your heels for free. The pedicure is a bit more expensive than those around at $35, however, I left with beautiful toes and a relaxed feeling. OH MY gosh! (Read to the end please.) I have returned here years later to see if things have changed. I went for an acrylic fill. First, the manicurist's machine did not work. Then, she struggled to find a new rotating tip for the machine--ended up not finding one so she used an old worn out one. She was eventually forced to file my nails by hand without any machinery and cause my cuticles to BLEED Plus, my nails are all uneven lengths! Absolute WORST MANICURE I have ever received. (The cost was $35 for a fill. Are you kidding me??) When I questioned the cost, she insisted that they provide a higher quality of service than the other salons. Huh? IT KEEPS GOING ....when I paid with the exact amount in cash, she asked me where the tip was!!! By the way, prices are not posted. IT KEEPS GOING....she even asked a coworker of mine-- who had gone there previously--if she had "gained back all the weight that she had lost!" I have been to this place about 5 times. This was the worst and I will never go back. First the older gal just kept talking and asking questions . Then she is trying to sell her artwork that's on the wall telling me what a good artist she is. She's not paying attention to my toes and cuts them half off leaving rough edges and then paints nail polish on the skin at the end of my toes. But that's not the worst. She cut the end off of my fourth finger and it bleed and bleed and then she stops it with glue. I showed my Dr. the next day and couldn't believe she glued it. I've been soaking it for a week now and it's still bleeding. It was deep. Never never again!!!! She didn't even offer a refund. read more
