We walked in without an appointment and they told us that it was alright and to come back in 40 minutes. We came back, and they had a place for us! They told us to select our nail color. I went in for a pedicure and Will went in for a manicure. They were extremely nice to him because he was the only boy there. This place definitely deserves an update! I returned to Bella a few weeks ago when I had a friend in town. On a Saturday afternoon, Bella was the only nail salon in Ballard that had room for us. This is not because they were not busy, but because they have a full staff and lots of chairs and I think they are just really well prepared for a crowd! Not only was the manicure fast, it was probably the most perfect manicure I have had in a long time. They were fast but not rushed, and very friendly. Its nice to chit chat with the ladies while getting pampered. The massage was a little much for me, but I really enjoyed the hot rock treatment! Bella Nails definitely deserves a 5 for their ability to serve a large number of customers in a reasonable time, while still keeping up the high quality of their nail skills! I got a pedicure, which I thought was mediocre for the price (and even a little incomplete and sloppy as I'll explain in the rest of the review). The shop closes at 7:30 pm. I called ahead to reserve an appointment for 7pm. They asked on the phone, if I could come in earlier, and I replied that I wasn't able to, due to my work schedule. I asked them if that was still ok. At that point, they could have told me that they don't take appointments or walk-ins after 7pm, because they wanted to close the shop and walk out precisely at 7:30 pm. But, they didn't and said the appt time was completely fine. I got there at 6:45 pm. They weren't actually ready to seat me until 7:15. From there, I got a quickie 15 minute pedicure - sparkle toe polish was all the over my toes, cuticles untouched, foot wasn't scrubbed, water tub looked like it needed a more thorough cleaning between clients, and I was left hobbling out into the night with those fake flipflops on, because they wouldn't leave the shop open longer for my toes to dry. I guess I could have been an a*sshole by saying something at the time, but my girl friend and I were catching up and keeping things upbeat, so complaining would have been a buzzkill. Also, the ladies were very nice - just the services were below par for a $30 pedicure. Anyway, I don't want to slam the business too hard, since perhaps they are better when not rushed (even if it's by their own doing). But, this is just a cautionary tale to others: Don't assume they will leave the shop open for any later than their established closing time - even if they end up seating you late. And finally if I could wish for anything, that would be that the ladies at any of the nail shops be a little more professional. Please stop asking me if I'm Thai, and then being surprised that I'm Vietnamese. And then, once you learn I'm Vietnamese, try to start talking to me in that language. After which, I have to explain to you that I talk very little Vietnamese, but understand everything. Yes, ladies, I UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING you are saying the whole time. ;) read more

The way they do their manicures is perplexing. Every nail salon I've been to follows the same formula. Step 1: Remove polish and soak nails Step 2: Cut nail, clip cuticles, clean up nail bed Step 3: Massage, parrafin, etc Step 4 Polish and dry. From Brooklyn to Portland, this is what I expect when I walk into a salon. But here...things are a little different. They polish before the massage and they use oil and hot stones. The stones I found unnecessary, and the oil left my arms and back greasy until I got a chance to wash it off once my nails dried. I was also worried while she was doing the massage (mostly arms with maybe 10 seconds devoted to palms) that my wet nails would be smudged. The manicure was $20, which I found expensive for the services received. I can easily find a better $15 or even $12 mani for comparable if not better services. On the plus side, the place is very clean and they bring the tools out in a sealed bag which they open in front of you. The woman who did my nails did a nice job filing and painting them, and they had a good selection of colors. I popped in here while waiting on an oil change, but I dont think I will be back. I'm happy with my nails but I didnt like the way they did their manicure or the price. read more

I started going here after another nail salon messed up my shellac and didn't fix it during the same visit. This place rocks! I always make an appointment so I can't speak to any waiting times, but for the same price as most standard mani/pedis at other places, you get a massage (arm, neck, shoulders with mani and foot, leg with pedi) as well as a hot stone rubdown (not sure what the technical term for that is!). Don't waste your money. One of my biggest pet peeves is paying for pedicure when it's a bad job. We had a girls day and I was really looking forward to a good pedi. I complained about my pedi and they gave me $5 off and I'm still not happy about it. I'm still on the hunt for a place that can do a good job. Personally, it's hard for me to log in and write a review either good or bad, I simply don't have the time. This place however, is so incredible that it deserved my time. I have been getting salon treatment for the past ten years and I can say with certainty that this is in my top TWO places I have ever visited. Not only are the COMPLETELY full for any walk ins, they are some of the nicest, most attentive people I have encountered in salon service. Their prices are spot on for what you receive, everything is sanitary and they clean DURING the day. Cleanliness and friendliness aside, ALL of the staff there do an AMAZING job with all the services. I have had solar, pedis, manis, and shellac, and they have ROCKED them all. While this place has been convenient and a go-to for many years it's time to move on. Today's visit was less than pleasant. I understand there's a language barrier, but it doesn't warrant rudeness by their employees. For whatever reason my request to move the chair forward, for my comfort as well as the nail artist, sparked obvious back talk from other personnel. It wasn't subtle and it isn't polite. This place is one of my favorites and the only nail salon I go to. One thing I always looks for in a nail salon is cleanliness and making sure they sanitize the tools and foot tubs. This spa is super clean, smells great and the customer service is amazing. I would recommend making an appointment since they get busy with walkins. My favorite part of a manicure or pedicure is the massage! At Bella, they massage your arms, neck and back and then go back over the same spots using hot stones. I practically fall asleep each time. I don't know about you but my main reason for going to get my nails done is the added bonus of a massage. I haven't found a place in Seattle yet that beats out Bella's massage. read more

Im sad to see so many bad reviews but even good business have bad days. Some of the bad reviews are from when they first opened so maybe they've listened. I went in on a Tuesday evening and got right in with no problem. One of the girls helped my picked out a color. She opened all the caps for me to see the color and was very patient while I looked. The girl who did my nails was VERY thorough. She did an amazing job. The shellac held up through a 9hour work shift as a baker/barista; notorious things for ruining manicures. My nails have never looked so good. She asked me how I like to shape my nails, asked me during if I was happy with how it was coming out. All the tools are sterilized and the store doesnt have that awful ''nail salon'' smell. Which means they dont use harmful chemicals. The nail technician talked to me during the manicure. I didnt have to stare at her awkwardly at her the whole time. I felt really taken care of. For 30$ Ill be going back and bringing friends. read more

I don't get my nails done often, but when I do I ALWAYS come here. I've seen a few different people, and I am never let down. I like to get the gel manicures because the polish stays on a lot longer than regular polish. Sometimes they give you a massage, which can be awkward if you aren't expecting it. One lady did the thing where she puts her hands together and claps them on your head, it took all my ability to not laugh. Just really unexpected. XD Definitely returning though read more

I bought a LivingSocial coupon for this place for the herbal mani/pedi. When I came in on a sunday afternoon to get my nails done, the place was packed with *surprise!* other ladies who bought the coupon, and there was at least a 15 minute wait despit emaking an appointment ahead of time. The location of this salon is where Dessert Sun(?) in Ballard used to be. Nothing too fancy with the setup..cleaner than your regular neghborhood Nails place and some obvious effort to make you feel pampered. (i.e. complimentary tea, stones in the water bowl for hand soaking, paraffin wax etc.) The service takes a little longer, which is good as they don't hurry you just to get the next client, but not the kind of appointment you can do during your lunch time. Quality. Meh. There's a lot of places better. The colors chipped off within a week (shorter than average). Staff is pretty personable which is always a plus. bottomline: I could get a better quality nail service at a cheaper price tag in a less dainty looking place;-) read more

I came in here right after going to another nail salon because I spontaneously decided a needed a manicure along with the pedicure I had just got. Parking is somewhat difficult to find in the evening on Ballard Ave so be aware of that. I walked in and was greeted, and this place was busy! I was concerned at first that I wasn't going to be able to get in. The salon is large and clean to what I could see. I signed in ( they ask for your full name, email, birthdate and service you want) and picked my color, a dark festive red for the holidays. I was seated immediately and got to work. The lovely young women who worked with me was named Jennifer. She has worked here for a year and seven months. She was very through and precise, friendly and talkative with me. She did my nails perfectly! Very attentive and the color was beautiful! No spots missed, nails even with each other. I was very satisfied. She painted my nails first then massaged my forearms with an herbal lotion and warm rocks. She asked if it was okay for her to rub my shoulders, neck and forehead which I was definitely okay with. Be forewarned they do use the lotion on your shoulders, but rub it in nicely so it shouldn't get on your clothes that she rubs under. It was very relaxing and now all I want to do is nap! Overall I give the manicure experience five stars. $20 and I tipped her ten I enjoyed her company so much. Jennifer is great and I highly recommend making an appointment with her, she is fast and very professional. I will be back for sure! read more

Dude, go get a mani/pedi here STAT. Seriously! I just stopped in kind of on a whim, because my hands and feet have been fugly this summer. (Maybe if you came out more I'd make more of an effort, SUN.) They were able to get me started right away, and they were SUPER friendly and accommodating. Not like at many nail shops where you just know you're being trashed in Vietnamese -- they were cute and sweet and they even joked with me about how their legs were way hairier than mine when I apologized for going in there with spiky unshaved gams. During the massage chair/pedicure part, they not only did a full leg/arm massage, but they did a hot stone treatment on both and a bunch of neck/shoulder massage. And they even did this great forehead acupressure kinda thing -- the gal was so cute; she sort of delicately removed my glasses from my massage-woozy face, stuck them on top of her head for storage during the acupressure, and gently tried to slip them back on my face without me noticing. & I almost didn't, except it was so ADORABLE. Then, when they popped me over to the mani-specific table, more hot stone massage, this time all down your neck/back. Hot damn! The actual varnish process was great; they only use one thin layer of base and top coat plus two thin polish coats, so it looks great but doesn't take like nine hours for the whole shellac shebang to dry. So no smudgies! And the best part to a nerd like me who craves efficiency -- their mani tables have these little built-in fans at each station, so you can be drying your off hand while they're working on the other one, thus making the whole process more efficient. And they do have the standard upstairs/downstairs drying exit bar, but with UV lights too to help stuff cure faster. And all this was $42. I'm not a HUGE mani/pedi getter, but the whole service felt like something you'd get at a way more upscale kind of place like Frenchy's or Sense or somewhere even pricier, but it was a damn good deal IMO. That's a bummer if they're saying they can't book all Living Social people right away, but truthfully, I've seen so many businesses actually shut down over the boom in demand/drop in revenue from Groupon-type deals that it actually seems like a small price to pay to let them actually keep their business running. Which I hope they do, because I am TOTALLY going back, like, quarterly. Yay Bella! read more

They always greet me with a smile on their faces and ask about my sister and my daughter who also are Bella clients. I've gone to far more expensive places here in Seattle and have always happily returned to Bella wondering why I even bothered going somewhere else. My friend recommended this salon when we decided to get our nails done, and I was very impressed with the experience. I don't go to salons that often, but I have been to quite a few different salons over the years in the area. In the past, none of them had really stood out. Avoid this place. There are about 4 nail places around them. Avoid I've been there twice now. Each time I made an appointment and each time I had to wait at least 35 minutes after my appointment time. The last time I was there, I had to wait almost an hour. I had a mani/pedi scheduled and they put me in the foot tub where I sat for almost 20 minutes. I kept asking what was going on and kept being told, "just 2 minutes" It was already 7pm so it's not like I could go somewhere else. In addition, during my pedicure the nail technician was plucking my cuticles and although I told it it hurt, she kept doing it until she finally drew blood. Avoid this place. read more

Pretty expensive and one of the worst pedicures I have ever had. $30 for a pedicure with no foot rub, the girl hardly could paint them at all, she spent the entire time wiping off the paint she got all over my skin and spoke on another language, laughing and joking with her do-workers the whole time. Not a good experience. Also got an eyebrow wax, she did pretty good, but she missed quite a few stray hairs that I had to get myself when I got home. Overall, not the best experience. read more

I've had pedicures in a few different neighborhoods in Seattle, and while most were a-ok to good, this one takes the cake. Bella stayed open late for our appointments, the staff were friendly and ready with tea or water, and the job they did on our feet was pretty impressive (and felt so good after). Fun tip: if going as a couple, or as two close friends who want to gossip, there's a semi-private room in the back for pedis. Really disappointed in my most recent visit. I have been coming here for a year and will probably never be back. I arrived at 3:15 on a Thursday afternoon and did not leave until 5pm. I always come here for a shellac manicure and a regular pedicure. The technician today for my pedicure was stellar, but manicure, that technician was very bad. It took over an hour for her to do a manicure that normally takes 30 minutes max. She kept cutting my hand and I asked her to please be careful because we have our engagement photo shoot tomorrow and I don't want my hands all dinged up but now they will be. This salon is right in my neighborhood. I've been there 3 times now and every time I was a walk-in. Even if they're all busy someone greets you pretty immediately. They ask what you're wanting to do and will let you know how long the wait is. I haven't had to wait very long during any of those visits. I'll go pick a color and no more than 15 min. later I'm in a chair. The spa pedicure is an amazing service for the price! I've gone to super fancy spas and had their version of a spa pedicure and it's been at least 2 if not 3 times of the price of the one done here and they're identical in quality and what's done. The girls are all sweet and it's a very relaxing and clean space. Definitely my place for a pedicure treat. read more

My best friend and I stopped in here for an impromptu mani/pedi day. And let me tell you it was awesome. They sat us right next to each other in the massage pedi chairs (only I was getting a pedicure but they didn't want to separate us) and they did both of our manis right there in the chair. My Shellac mani looks great and so does my friends. The only negative, and it's not even negative I'm just really sensitive, is that the massage they give you while your nails are drying was a little rough. My friends said hers was great so it may have just been my tech or I'm just overly sensitive. But still what a great nail place! read more
