I've been going to Bella nails for 4 years, coming in about every 3 weeks. If you're looking for dip nails, Wendy is your gal. Amy who runs everything is also great and very nice. I am putting 2 stars for each of them. When I went in yesterday, I had someone I've never had before, GiGi, who I could tell didn't really know how to give a good pedicure. I was kind to her, and had to tell her a few times to cut my nails more, etc., and felt like I had to keep an eye on what she was doing. Where things went terrible wrong is I told them I only had 45 more minutes. When we were at 50 minutes, I looked down and she had painted my feet different colors. One set of toes had the burnt orange I had picked out. The other set of toes had the shiny orange. I thought something looked off while she was doing it, but was told several times, "it was just the light." I was ignored. Then, when she was finished, I said again it was 2 different colors. She agreed and laughed. The other women working there also looked over and just shrugged. Daisy who did my nails, offered to fix it. No idea where Gigi went. She just walked out. At that point, I was already 10 min late and didn't have time to fix it. So here I am with 2 different sets of colors on my toes. Not sure how that was missed while she was painting my toes. At checkout, I told Daisy I would pay for the manicure, but I wasn't going to pay for the pedicure. She told me I had to pay. I then asked if she could at least give me a discount? I've literally been coming here for 4+ years and have never said one bad thing, and this is how I'm treated? Where is the customer service? I think if they would have apologized and offered to give me a discount or felt bad whatsoever I wouldn't be writing this review. But I had to ask for it, twice. They didn't care at all there service they provided was bad. If you're looking for somewhere that cares about their customers, this isn't it. read more

Today was my second time going. The first was great but today one of the girls accidentally exploded water from the pedicure area all over me. My friend and I had to clean up the water and ask for more towels. It was ridiculous. They apologized but didn't give me the full pedicure with paraffin wax that I asked for. I had to stand in the middle of the salon and use a blow dryer to dry my pants! They did make sure to charge me for everything and the glass of wine I got. I don't see myself return to this place. I'd advise finding a different salon in Ballard. read more

This place is super clean and the nail technicians are very friendly...but they give the BEST pedicures. Today I saw Lily. Let me tell you, this woman rubbed my feet and calves like she just knew I'd been on my feet all week and was desperate for some relief. It was so good I forgot to put on the chair massager. Has that EVER happened to you?! Me either! They stay open later than normal and automatically add shoulder massages to their manicures. There is parking behind the salon (which is epic for ballard) and they ALWAYS offer a reward of some sort when you enter in your number. Somehow I seem to have saved some coupon at each visit. VERY unsanitary! If I had hepatitis C or HIV someone else would be getting exposed to it as I write this review. If I find out that I have a blood disease, I got it from this place. By the time I looked over and realized the tools the technician was using were not out of sterilized bags, she had cut me under the nail. She didn't apologize until I pointed out that she cut me. I asked her if they sterilize those tools because she put the tool back in the nail tool box and put it away. She just looked at me and smiled. I don't think she understood me. I asked another customer if she had been here before and if she knows wether they clean the tools. She said she had been there before and she doesn't think they sterilize them. I was charged $35 for the set + $15 for shellac. Total rip off, I might have a disease and my nails don't look great. read more

All the ladies are very nice and accommodating and the salon is always clean. I never have to make an appointment as they have plenty of stations. I've never waited more than 10mins. Hit or miss coming here. I've had amazing service when i've been the only one in here, other times its been crappy. Writing this review based on my experience here last week. Made an appt for 4 people for my sisters birthday 5 days prior, made that clear as well. When we got there right on time, we had to wait 30 minutes just to sit down in the pedicure chairs. You knew we were coming, why didn't you reserve the spots like you told me you would? We had dinner reservations right after which we were late to. We all got wine and they served a side of crackers and olives which was a nice touch. My sister and friends pedicures started first, mine last. Although, I was the first one that was done for some reason. I didn't appreciate a shorter pedicure because they were late getting us in and closing. After I paid, I asked for change from a $10 bill so I could tip. The man took $5 and gave me back $5 assuming they deserved the full tip after a crappy experience. After this, I will not go back. Prices are higher than normal here as well. read more

Today was my third time getting service from this establishment and on the first two visits, my experience was not great but not awful either. The nail care professionals on those visits were very pleasant and professional however, on my visit today I decided to write this review and never go there again. The lady that provided my service today was extremely rude, and rough, and to top it all off she cut my cuticle causing me to bleed after we exchanged words! She didn't understand English enough to comprehend my request but instead of asking politely, she very rudely suggested that I let her do her job! If she had taken the time to understand my concern things could have gone a lot smoother! I can not say that all of the staff is this unprofessional but she should be taught customer service etiquette! I still gave her a tip because I am a fair person and would never take away from others that render a service. read more

I first came here for a manicure which surprisingly came with a massage. I then tried a pedicure which was heavenly. Since both these treatments were so incredibly awesome I decided to try a full set of nails. Awesome again! I don't have any favorites as all the technicians are great! The atmosphere is peaceful and calm. I never have to wait when I have an appointment. I have always gotten in on the same day I call. Sadly I'm only here for the summer but I visit often. Bella truly lives up to its name. It's beautiful from top to bottom. Fresh flowers at every table (during holidays), girls in bright red aprons bearing the signature Bella rose, immaculately clean from the incessant sweeps of the candy-striped broom. All the tools are steralized before each use- a must now in this industry! Comfy massage chairs are accented by the hands on foot, hand, shoulder, head massage offered by the girls doing your nails. Plus, there are no televisions giving you a chance to slip further into relaxation or to enter into a quiet conversation. The reason I can't give it 5 stars is that, although the salon itself is immaculate, the girls could do a little better on the actual nail service. I really, really wanted to like Bella Nails, especially after all the great reviews on here. I had a Livingsocial deal and made an appointment several weeks in advance, but when I arrived they were running about 45 minutes late. No big deal -- I picked out a nail color, grabbed a magazine (bonus points for having a Wired for this nerdy girl amongst all the Cosmos and Allures), and waited for them to be ready for me. If my review were to be based solely on the pedicure I got and the woman who did my pedicure, I'd feel better giving more stars. They have a nice salon with candles, comfy massage chairs, and not too many chemical fumes compared to a lot of nail salons. I wasn't offered any kind of beverage other than water, but I can overlook that as an oversight because they were so busy when I first came in. Unfortunately, the woman who did my manicure basically ruined the experience. She was so distracted by something to her left that the nail shaping was mediocre at best. I couldn't figure out what she was looking at, but it resulted in her filing my fingertips more than my nails. She asked how I was doing three times in a row. I was willing to write this off as her having a bad day, but the worst was yet to come. I didn't realize that there was a massage component to the deal, but after a hard day of studying for finals I was actually looking forward to it after I saw someone else with a Livingsocial coupon get the same treatment. Unfortunately, the manicurist had a different idea of what a massage meant and pounded on the back of my neck and head so hard that I had a terrible headache immediately afterward and a bruise the next day. I've had deep tissue massages before, so I know that some massages are supposed to hurt. That's fine. But this wasn't a massage -- it was a beating. I really wish I had gotten to stick with my pedicurist throughout the entire appointment, because she was lovely. The woman I got for my fingernails was terrible, and the manicure was uneven. I'm not very good at doing my own nails, but even I could have done better myself. In fact, I redid my manicure when I got home because she missed several spots completely. I wasn't about to ask them to redo it at the salon because I didn't want to prolong that experience any more than I had to at that point. Also, the Livingsocial voucher said to expect the length of service to be at least 90 minutes -- but by the time they got me seated, I was out and done in about 60. Not that I really wanted to stay any longer than I had to after that, but things got significantly less busy after they had me seated in one of the pedicure chairs, so it really seems like they're just trying to rush people through as quickly as possible. I left without leaving a tip, which makes me feel terrible because this is one of the first times I have ever not tipped for anything. I'm wondering if I'm the only person ever here who had to pay $35 more on top of the living social voucher just for getting shellacs! When I walked in, they asked me to pick a color right away, and asked me if I wanted shellacs, and explained to me what they were as I had never gotten it before--without ever mentioning that this was for an extra charge. The lady who did my pedicure and manicure (I think named Lee) made my cuticles bleed the whole time as she was using her own long (and dirty / polished) fingernails to push my cuticles back, or to wipe the excess polish she spread around my nails! I also did not get a paraffin dip. At the end of that torture, after I--being nice--left her a nice tip, I was asked to pay $35 for getting shellacs. I asked the cashier lady how much this would cost without the voucher...She couldn't give me a straight answer, and just babbled her way through, kept telling me "But we always charge extra for shellacs...but there is a sign here... (pointing to a small piece of paper that is nowhere visible when you enter) and I paid my $35 (plus $10 tip!) and left... Together with my $60 worth voucher, totalling to $105, I got the most painful, ridiculously expensive mani / pedi of my life. I want my money back, or living social voucher back so I can ask for a refund. If the owner reads this, they must know how to contact me! read more

I received a herbal Mani/pedi with a living social deal for $30 normally $60. It came with the works: pariffin wax, hot stone, new Massage chairs. Although this was all very nice, my manicure is not very good. I asked for square with slightly rounded and ended up with Two rounded nails and mostly slanted nails. This is probably because while I was getting the pedicure another woman did my manicure in the limited space on the side of the chair making them slanted. I'm hoping they read this and pay better attention to there technique in the future. But my advice is to pay attention yourself to correct any mistakes. It was a great deal but wouldn't go back to pay the full $60 read more

They do not use a base coat, so be prepared for stained nails. They massage your face without asking and then do some pretty strong poundings on the shoulders and head. They reach down the back of your shirt which is awkward. The waxing technician did not prep or clean my eyebrow area, before applying wax. The manager takes your first and last name to write down on a pad of paper - this may be to create the illusion they are making it personal, but I think that is an invasion of privacy. I've never experienced that in a nail salon. If I want to tell you my first and last name, I will - but don't force me to give it to you. It's an illusion that this place is clean. I experienced a rash and peeling skin in between my toes a few days later. They wear uniforms and incessantly sweep the floor as if to appear clean. The place hasn't been opened long so of course it looks like it's new still. Be aware of any salon you go to that uses whirlpool spa chairs. Health experts trace problem to spa pedicure whirlpool basins, which are more difficult to clean. The pipe systems in many spa pedicure chair models allow water and debris to stagnate and the filters in the chairs may not be cleaned properly, with contaminants building up. I recommend nail salons that use an individual bowl system, where there are no hidden areas where bacteria can hide. Alcohol and a UV light do not kill germs that can spread on implementation tools. Only an autoclave can. This is just my opinion and I do not claim to be an expert, but this is my experience. read more

Working down the street, I've been to Bella Nails a few times since they opened. The space is nice and clean, soothing music sets a peaceful mood and either wine, coffee or water is offered to drink. The staff is friendly and accommodating, greeting me by name whenever I happen to walk-in. The spa pedicures are amazing and I love the hot stone leg massage. When I asked about paraffin as an addition to my pedicure, they suggested a Herbal Spa Pedicure; it was about equal in price to adding the additional service but had so much more value! If you're looking for a solution to a long day the Herbal Spa Pedicure with either Yen or Amy is all you need! They're the best new thing on Market Street! read more

I went yesterday to get shellac manicure. - I don't like the uniforms the woman are wearing in this place, I don't know if the owner is a guy or what but please do not put all women in t shirt uniforms that are cut on the sides until their waist or even more up. - The attention is Ok... the girl in the front desk was a little slow to understand what was going on, I called and make a reservation, it seems that she was unable to understand me and pass the phone to someone else . I got there and wrote un a piece of paper , as instructed, my name and the service I wanted, then this girl gives another paper to the person who was doing my nails without my name and with the wrong service. Also, she directed me to a wall for normal manicure color when I wrote shellac .... I mean I wrote it, just read what the paper you told me to write on.... I would not be surprise this girl has a job there because is the niece or daughter of one of the owners ... - The girl that did my nails did a good job with my nails but her attitude was a little weird ... always talking in another language with other people, asking me if I wanted services that I didn't even know there were included such as massage in my neck ... I said no because I couldn't hear her really well and I didn't know if it was included. But the work in the nails was good.... I can't remember her name but she looked to be the youngest. I went recently (during pandemic) and was pleased with my experience. I got a pedicure, and it was done well. What I appreciated was that they took my temperature and had hand sanitizer. Recently stopped by to get both a pedicure and a manicure. I love it. Nice, sparkling, new, very friendly and kind staff. I got a regular spa pecidure and a shellac manicure. Was very impressed by the quality and the extra steps they took with massage/hot stone massage/etc. I will be back and sending friends. One thing keeps this from being 5 stars for me: I have the LS voucher and have not yet used it. When you call, they ask if you are using a voucher and say they don't have availability if you want to use one. If you just book a regular appt they seem to have plenty of availability. After being a loyal customer for several years I've decided to stop going here for the following reasons: - while many of their employees are friendly, there are just enough rude ones to deliver poor customer service - the prices keep going up and yet the service is declining. Very clean which is always a good thing for your nail place! I also found the ladies very welcoming and made me feel comfortable right away. They also managed to memorize my name and said "Bye Erin!" when I headed out the door from the drying area. It's a little more pricey than I would normally want to pay and I base that mostly off of the type of products they use. If they were using more organic/natural products, I would be willing to pay $60 for the Spa Mani/Pedi. Slapping mineral based lotion on me and unnaturally orange scrub? Best manicure massage ever! Not only do they use hot stones to massage your muscles but they give you a complimentary neck, face, and head massage. I literally am so relaxed I could fall sleep every time! Having said that, it's probably more of a solo-manicure endeavor kind of place, because it's kind of hard to talk to you friend in the next chair while getting a face massage. I've never made an appointment and always been able to pop in, which is always a nice perk. Girls are nice and friendly, tools are clean. When I read the description in the voucher, I thought it was an actual "day spa" so I was a little disappointed when it turned out to be just another nail salon. HOWEVER, it's much nicer than every basic nail salon I've been to, tasteful decor, clean, and everything is in good condition. My girlfriends and I all got great mani/pedis, I paid $15 extra for the Shellac and when 2 of the nails were a bit blobby, they took the time to redo and make sure everything was right. And I don't get manicures often, so maybe this is normal, but we all got great arm, shoulder, neck massages with our manis! I'm about to schedule another appointment right now! read more

If you would like to leave a nail salon with bloody stumps and no apology go here! I have actually had mani pedis here several times and it has been fine but after today I will never go there again. The service was extremely rushed and after I told the tech several times she was hurting me and she cut all my cuticles within an inch of my life! She was unapologetic even after it was clear that EVER single finger was bleeding. My fingers are sore and my manicure is hideous. In the Ballard area and wanted to get my nails done. Went on Yelp but the place I decided on going to was closed. Noticed Bella Nails down the block so why not? Greeted immediately and sat for a few moments. Super clean and nicely decorated salon. I had a full set while my friend had a pedicure. My friend couldn't get over how amazing his toes looked and felt. The owner did my nails and they look fantastic! Short, thin acrylics and natural looking. I would call this place fair at best. The staff was very, very nice which goes a long way but the execution of the service was not great. My friends and I scheduled a party at Bella to get our hands and feet done for one of the gal's wedding. They allowed us to bring in champagne and snacks and change the music - all very accommodating. Our appointments were for 2:30p and at 2:30p nearly all of the chairs were filled by people not in our group. Not the worst thing ever but I would expect that reserving the space for a party would mean that we had the shop to ourselves, at least that has been my past experience. Nevertheless, the actual mani/pedi was only fair. the polish doesn't cover to the base of my nails and the gal didn't use a base coat. The massage was incredibly awkward - why on my face? Not great.
