Pleasantly surprised at this locally owned Italian restaurant. They source fresh, seasonal, and local ingredients as much as possible and it really reflects on the quality of food. The service was friendly and delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The Harvest Bruschetta, the Rigatoni Crema, Brussel Sprouts, freshly grilled shrimp Alfredo, and a tiramisu rounded out our meal. Everything was fantastic and the freshly grated parmesan and ground black pepper just put the cherry on top. It's a little pricey, but well worth the pretty penny! One of my favorite places in Lexington. In part because of their amazing bread with oil and herbs for dipping and their caprese salad which is the best I have found. We had the Fettucine Alfredo one with shrimp and both were amazing. Their sauce is so good. Started with a Caprese Salad and they have a unique take and serve fresh mozzarella over diced tomatoes, balsamic and oil with fresh basil. It's the best salad I've had. Fly into town today and was tired of airplane goldfish. Lots of good places around but I was craving Italian. Hit a home run here. Snuck past the line of people and grabbed my usual seat for 1 at the bar. If your coming with others it would probably be a good idea to make a reservation looking at the crowd of people I passed to get in. Julio at the bar was great and we chatted about his favorite food items (Penne Gorgonzola, Baked Rigatoni Romano & Penne La Bella). I settled on the Chicken Marsala for both the Marsala sauce and their home made fettuccine. However after the delicious Spicy Tomato basil soup and bread I was wondering if I had room for any more. Plus I was already thinking about their tiramisu. Ugh, so much for the pre-holiday diet. The chicken Marsala was vey good! Two large chicken breasts laying over a bed of fettuccine all covered in delicious Marsala sauce. I see why Julio's mom loves it so. Yes of course I ate to much! Heck yeah it was all very delicious. This is one of my favorite Italian restaurant along with guiseppes in Lexington! It definitely has the best ambience and decor in the whole town. The tree in the middle is cool, goes well with the jazz music they always play. It's like it's always Christmas in here! They are one of the few places that does a seasonal menu right. The food is somewhat okay, but the service and overall experience was mediocre. My chicken Parmesan tasted fine, but the pasta and sauce lacked any flavor whatsoever. It seems as if the tomatoes completely overpowered the dish. The appetizer sampler was probably my favorite part of the meal. I'll admit, this place has some of the best fried calamari I have ever had, hands down. Unfortunately, though, this experience was ruined because my husband's burger was too burnt to even eat. He ordered a medium rare burger, but as you can see from the photos, the inside of the bun and the patty were burnt to a crisp. Our server didn't even bother to ask my husband if he preferred something else from the menu. He took the plate and we didn't see him again until it was time to pay for the meal. He did not check on us for the entirety of our meal and was pretty inattentive. I didn't even get a refill on my drink. This place leaves much to be desired. 1/5 stars. For a Lexington favorite I am surprised it has taken me so long to come here, but I will definitely return! The restaurant is easy to miss at times due to difficulty in getting into the parking lot! The place stays pretty crowded so you'll want to make a reservation, even during the week! We went in about 5ish and the place filled up by 6pm. We tried a variety of foods from the Baked Rigatoni Romano to the classic Chicken Parmesan, and one member of our party even had a burger! Was looking for an Italian place on the Southside of Lexington so Bella Notte was the choice. We stared the night with some fried calamari and of the three sauces it comes with, the marinara and chipotle aioli did the trick. For dinner we ordered the scallops and fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and shrimp. The scallops were well sized and melt in your mouth good. I couldn't decide between chicken or shrimp on the Alfredo so doubled down on the meat. The sauce was perfectly balanced, not too runny or too thick, and was full of flavor. There was also no shortage of chicken or shrimp with the pasta. There will definitely be a return trip in the near future. read more

When my wife and I are in Lexington, this is a familiar "go to" place for us. Excellent atmosphere, lovely garden decor for a dinner for two, it would also be great for dinner with friends. Sometimes there can be a wait, but only on peak nights and the friendliness and efficiency of staff is a real plus. Can be pricey, but many reasonable items on the menu and excellent desserts are generous enough to share. A somewhat spare wine list, but tried and true standards are available. House wines are more than acceptable. Dinner starts with traditional bread and olive oil and if desired, a range of appetizers are available. I recommend the bruschetta, somewhat spicy and especially well presented. They serve a very nice Caesar salad in the familiar style. All the Italian standards are excellent and portions are generous. My favorite is the chicken Marsala. Excellent variety on the dessert list. This is traditional Italian done well, in a warm and friendly style that could be considered upscale, but still casual. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. The ambience is great, the service is amazing and the food... magnifico! I would also like to point out that this restaurant goes above and beyond to make sure its customers are happy. I am in the hospital with a broken leg and ordered from DoorDash last evening. Apparently, you can't schedule ahead on the DoorDash app with this restaurant, and Bella Notte has been begging them to take that feature off. When I called to find out what was happening about an hour after my food wasn't there and my time kept getting changed, I spoke with the general manager, Kyle, and he told us there was not going to be a dash resigned because they don't accept that feature of schedule ahead on Friday and Saturday. He saw the order in the system, but it was not going to be picked up by a Dasher. Knowing that, not only did he make the order up for us, but brought it up to the hospital as well! If that's not going the extra mile, I don't know what it is. He even added a piece of cake for us since we had to wait so long I'm sure I will order from them again while at the rehab center and I, of course, will definitely go back and sit with the lighted tree in the middle of the restaurant read more

I love Italian and Seafood. Bella Notte had my favorite plate; seafood Linguine. So I swapped out the Linguine for Angel hair with no problem and I also ordered a side of Caesar salad. The server delivered quickly fresh bread and olive oil so I dove into the tasty treat. Everything was great! The salad plate was larger than I expected and the pasta was Al dente. Usually in Kalifornia, seafood decorates the top of the pasta. Not so here. There was Salmon, Shrimp, Calamari and Clams! Enough to include seafood with each mouthful of pasta. I love it here! I've been a few times for lunch and dinner and always love the huge tree in the middle of the room! It's an intimate setting but you don't have to be fancy to go in. First time eating here. Arrived at 3:25pm because we wanted to beat the dinner rush. Only 4 other tables were seated when my wife and I were seated. Hostess was nice and we were seated immediately. Waited 10 minutes before asking the Hostess if our server was told we were at a table. She said she would check. Another 5 minutes go by and then our server shows up to our table. Placed our order immediately. Waited another 35 minutes before our food was delivered to our table. The flavor of everything we ordered was really good but my wife's chicken was overcooked, hard and very small. We let the server know about the issue and nothing was done about it. I asked if she told the manager about it and she said they were going to check the ovens and equipment. No military discount is available. The prosciutto wrapped asparagus is really good. We recently popped in Bella Notte for dinner (no reservations). We were immediately seated. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I love the ambiance of the place. It's peaceful. The large lit tree indoors is super cool and unique. They start you off with the most incredible warm bread with delicious herbs and olive oil for dipping. I would come here just for this bread alone. We chose the scallop special and the beef special. Both seemed to have the same pasta with sauce so we shared the scallops and beef. Bella Notte is what Olive Garden wishes it could be. Seasonal menus, great service, amazing ambiance. This is easily one of the best date nights in the city. Whether you're with family or that special someone, everything from the salad to the dessert is great. There isn't a bad choice on the menu. To be fair, this is still technically a chain. You're not getting a particularly "authentic Italian" experience or anything. Just really good food served by excellent staff. I do have to agree with reviewers saying the only "bad" part are the occasional colorful customers. When we were there a quote unquote "Italian" kid (you could tell from the spray tan) left his muscle car running in the parking lot. It was absolutely deafening the local area while he ran in for takeout. The staff really do need to monitor these sorts of incidents and take action. Then again I'm sure a trashy local like that would threaten to sue them. Sigh. People of the greater Lexington area, we can do better. I'd been to Bella Notte several years ago, my wife and I decided to return mostly because we had a gift card burning a hole in our pocket. Ambiance was fine, normal Italian restaurant, hadn't changed any since I was there before. The appetizers were good. We chose the Fritto Misto, something there for both of us, the sauces were excellent. Fried well, pretty good. Portion was small but whatever, inflation and all that. For the main entree I chose the chicken Marsala which is a favorite of mine, I cook it at home and it's my go to dish at Italian restaurants. This, however was NO Marsala. I don't know what it is but calling it Marsala is an insult to that tiny dash of Marsala wine and the 2 minuscule slices of mushrooms that were involved in the making of this dish. Oh, and, and, the chicken was GRILLED! This is like serving a southern grandmother green beans straight from the can. Horrific. No breading, no frying, dude, i can't even. It tasted about how it looked. Grilled chicken over pasta with some brown gravy thrown on at the last second. Was this a $20.00 plate of food? Hell to the no. I didn't even take a picture of it, it was sad, I'd have gotten more chicken with a Rally's big chicken. But ya know, inflation. My wife chose the chicken saltimbocca. The orzo wasn't bad. Other than that it was neither inventive nor tasty. The chicken, again, grilled, had little if any spices other than black pepper. The prosciutto, well, it tasted exactly like butane. Wanna know why? Because they're just grilling all this chicken ahead of time, then throw a tiny strip of ham on and browning it with a butane torch. Gross. If you like strong lighter fluid overtones be sure to try it! I get it, they are local and people like this place, but why? If the food was great imagine what they'd be? Supporting local? I'm all for supporting local when they have a superior product, or even a mediocre product. But quite truthfully, I'm a bit embarrassed at the press this joint gets when the food is neither authentic nor good. The food is better at Olive Garden, or any of the other 3 Italian restaurants in Lexington. Wasn't impressed and won't be back. Sorry not sorry. The 2 stars are for the great wait staff, not their fault the menu and kitchen need a complete overhaul. read more

So after I said 2 we waited about 10 minutes before they sent me a text message to sit down and eat. The atmosphere is Beautiful. It's an Italian restaurant with a lot of beautiful pictures and Italian antique items as you enter the restaurant. So I ordered the Penne La Bella with Grilled Shrimp and my wife ordered the Penne Gorgonzola. Well a little while later we got some bread which was fresh and hot, then we got some olive oil and herbs on a plate. I must tell you everything from start to finish, was just great!! This is a local restaurant and they have the perfect decor. I really like the atmosphere here. The warm bread that they serve in the paper bag is delicious and a very nice touch. I had the Fettuccine Alfredo with Grilled Chicken. I normally wouldn't order that but we had a limited menu. I was there with a large group for a work lunch. The Alfredo sauce was excellent. The best I've had in a long time and the grilled chicken was very flavorful and cooked to perfection. This is a solid choice for Italian food and very reasonably priced. read more
