Went for lunch and the restaurant is open and airy with lots of seating. The lunch menu has a lot to offer; salads, sandwiches and hot plate lunches. I had the Hot Brown and it was delicious. The bechamel sauce was smooth and rich and the ham; thin sliced and devine. My guest had the chicken salad with fries. The salad was very good and the fries exceptional. They were fried twice; crisp on the outside and pillows on the inside. Only disappointment was the featured peach jalapeno margarita. I was served a regular margarita with heat but no peaches. I stayed at the Campbell house for a night. I tried the Rack House Tavern for breakfast and dinner. The service was very good. We even had the waitress from the night before see us and came up to our table to say hello.. I love the ambience. It's been renovated and has that Kentucky charm to it. Dinner was very good. I had the catfish and the Cobb salad. Absolutely delicious. My daughter had the Cajun pasta and her father had the Kentucky hot brown. No complaint here, The food was very good. read more

The Rackhouse Tavern is a beautiful, unique restaurant in Lexington. Seating is comfortable and service was great. Be prepared for a strong smell of smoke, which at one point filled the room. Wow, last time we were here, The Rackhouse Tavern was still under construction. My wife and I came tonight for a Yelp Elite event. We started off with craft cocktails. I had the My Old KY Home and my wife had the Appalachian. Both were very good. For the appetizers we had the Fried Chicken Livers, Pork Rinds and (our favorite of the 3) the Deviled Eggs. We did a tasting of Basil Hayden and the 10yr was my favorite. Thanks for the swag. For extras, we tried the Pappy's Dry Rub Duck Wings with a side of the Bourbon Honey Jalapeño sauce. The rub on the wings was a little salty, but the sauce was delicious on them. We also tried the Charcuterie Board. Everything on it was great. The decor in The Rackhouse Tavern reminded me of a distillery. Loved the fireplaces. Chef TJ Harville said they have about 350 bourbons on hand. This is probably the best meal we have had in Lexington. It is a little spendy, about $100 for 2 beers, 2 entrees, and a shared salad. I had the lamb with gnocchi, my husband had the hamburger and mashed potatoes and we shared a bibb salad. The salad was excellent, and large enough to be a meal in itself. The lamb was incredible. My husband said that it was no ordinary hamburger. The meat they used was premier. Service was excellent and the tavern ambiance was fantastic, decorated with local bourbon barrels. My wife and I had one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had at Rackhouse Tavern. We originally came in expecting a good meal, but the buffet was extremely disappointing -- several items that were advertised weren't even available, and much of the food that was out was cold. What made things even worse was the service. It was poor from the start, but the situation really went downhill when my wife called afterward to speak with a manager about our experience. She asked to speak with Jeff, and instead of listening or trying to resolve the issue, he was incredibly rude, spoke over her, and actually hung up on her twice. He was completely unwilling to have a reasonable conversation. We weren't looking for anything unreasonable -- just basic customer service and accountability -- but instead we were treated with disrespect. Very disappointing experience overall. Delany seated us and brought water right away. We arrived early and the restaurant wasn't busy. We ordered the duck legs as a starter. The duck was absolutely fabulous. My husband ordered the Creamy Cajun Pasta. It was made to order for him because he cannot tolerate onions. The chef left them out. I ordered the lamb gnocchi. The lamb and the gnocchi were tender. I had a strawberry spritz which is the seasonal cocktail. It was refreshing. We didn't have room for dessert but I am certain we will go back and can try dessert then. read more

Yes!!! This restaurant is fabulous! We were greeted by the host,Lizzy with a smile! Super nice. And our server Delaney was fantastic! She helped us navigate the bourbon list and the menu as this was our first visit. The bartender hannah was attentive too. The manager Scott checked on us to ensure our dinner was made to our expectations which is exceeded our expectations! The beet salad was incredible! It was huge (we could have shared it!). Gorgeous presentation of 8 golden beets with a bed of spinach tossed with strawberries and feta cheese with their own rhubarb vinaigrette! My husband had the duck with garlic sautéed green beans and cheesy grits. He loved every bite! I had the pork chop which was huge and so tender and flavorful with asparagus. A culinary delight! The ambiance is so relaxing....feels like you're inside of a barn or the rackhouse where they store the whisky barrels. They have a quaint outdoor fireplace seating area (closed as its freezing here tonight!). There is a cozy fireplace in the restaurant too with comfortable couch and chairs . They had live music tonight too. What a bonus for us! Two talented men with an electric guitar and an acoustic guitar and wow could they sing!! Jimmy buffet would have approved! We will definitely cone back! They are located inside of the historic Campbell House Hotel which is now owned by Hilton. We were traveling and in jeans and tennis shoes and felt comfortable but you could easily come here for a date or special occasion and get all dressed up! It's a special place! Just had breakfast at the Rackhouse Tavern. Dustin the manager was incredibly rude to me and my entire family. He was condescending from the second we walked in and seemed bothered that we wanted to eat there. Important to note we were all guest at the Campbell House hotel celebrating our wedding. I'm not sure if he's racist and had an issue with my Hispanic family or if he's just that rude with every guest of every race. I'd definitely think twice before visiting this restaurant. Dustin should consider taking a class on customer service or a career change. The food was delicious and some of the other staff were friendly and lovely, but the experience was ruined by Dustin's rude remarks. read more

They make a delicious espresso martini! They are also known for their bourbon so they have every type of bourbon that you can imagine stocked at the bar. They have live music on Friday and Saturday evenings until 10:30 PM. There are lots of places to enjoy a drink, including outside by the fireplace or inside on many of their spacious couches. They also have tables for food service if you want to get dinner. I went for a drink the night that I stayed at the hotel which is attached to the restaurant. I figured this visit was going to go from bad to worse after we waited 20 minutes for our cocktails, I finally had to ask the wait staff when we would get them, we recieved them a few minutes later. I stay at this hotel quite regularly for work but I had never had food at the restaurant. I had a long day today so I decided to stay at the hotel for dinner. So, I walked in the dining area, planning on grabbing a seat to have dinner and enjoy the ambiance. But before I can decide where to sit, a random guy rushed up to me asking if I'm having dinner or just having a drink. I had no idea who this guy was; it looked like he was just sitting at the bar on his tablet and rushed over to interrogate me when I was wander in his dining room. After I was seated, I thought ok... time to relax a bit... the ambiance was really nice but it was a bit chilly even though the fireplace was lit. (I know I wasn't just me because there were a table of men, some with their coats on, and the lady next to me had a hoodie zipped up.) Well, I figured maybe I just need some fuel. So, for dinner I had the salmon. The bourbon cider glaze on it was really nice, but I was expecting more veggies. It was yummy, but I don't know if it's worth $30. Maybe you pay for the ambiance and convenience at a place like this. For dessert I got the Italian lemon cake. The waitress said it was a good choice so I was excited to try it. But when I had the first bite, the cake was more disappointing than the main dish... it tasted like it had been refrigerated and it was not lemony at all. Over all, I'd give this place a 4 star experience for ambiance, waitress service, and the salmon was nice. But I wouldn't get the dish or this dessert again. Maybe next time I'll try the steak and their chocolate cake instead. read more

This place was bad! Looked nice, but I ended up sending two meals back. The steak was so tough I had to spit it out... I actually gave it a couple of bites. They were nice as prob not first time w this complaint. They offered me a new one but I went with the burger ( to be safe) . Maybe an unfortunate choice, but it was like it was microwaved on high! The service was terrible. The food was great once it finally came. It took an hour for our food to arrive. After waiting 30 minutes, the waitress (Lacey) gave us a lengthy, detailed excuse about a computer system glitch, which left us thinking that she had forgotten to put in our order. About 10 minutes later the manager said she would take care of it, after which the waitress said our order would be right out. It was at least another 15 minutes later before she brought it; an hour overall. None of the staff handled it well. They were dismissive and seemed to try to avoid our table. They comped one appetizer and gave us a piece of cake to go. The server wouldn't allow us to order the bourbon cheesecake, which sounded delicious, because my 18 year old daughter and her friend were with us at the table. Mistakes happen, it is how you handle mistakes that really matters, but the staff did not handle this well at all. read more

I had the pleasure of experiencing the Rackhouse Tavern this weekend, and left happy, full, and Impressed with their establishment. The overall ambiance was very chill and felt very "Kentucky". Service was quick and efficient. My date and I both ordered the 16 Oz Striploin steak with mashed potatoes. Having eaten and worked at Malones, Lexington's premier steakhouse, I know good steak, however, I can wholeheartedly say my favorite steak in Lexington now belongs to Chef Lane at the Rackhouse Tavern! This guy is the real deal!! We also really enjoyed the bourbon cheesecake dessert. It was absolutely delicious. 5/5 recommend. We will be back for more eats! read more
