It is no secret how much I love Bella Notte. When we have guests come into town, it is the first restaurant I want to share with them. I call it my happy place. This Thanksgiving, Bella Notte offered a pre-prepared Thanksgiving feast. Just reading the description, my mouth watered with anticipation. We purchased the meal and on Wednesday afternoon, I picked up our meal. I was thrilled to see a whole turkey, perfectly prepared, on a gold toned serving tray, wrapped in cellophane and tied with a burlap bow. All of the sides were carefully wrapped and included specific heating directions. The turkey was delicious! It is one of the most delicious, juicy, tender turkeys I have ever eaten. It was amazing. The sides including potatoes, stuffing, green beans, cranberries, gravy, and bread pudding were each delicious in their own right. The meal was prepared with care, every detail attended to. This is probably my favorite Italian place to go!!! Friendly service and terrific food. They have 2 sizes: single and family size.They are a little pricey per person unless you get the family size. We got the gorgonzola grilled chicken pasta with roasted red peppers and it was the best tasting dish I ever had. The chicken was tender and juicy and had just the right amount of sauce. The bread was fresh and tasty with the herbs and oils you use to dip it in. If you have not tried this place you are missing out!!! read more

Been here quite a few times. The atmosphere is amazing and the feeling is very laid back. The food is great and the wait staff are friendly and on their toes. I have never had a bad experience here. They have good house wine even. I did have an issue once about waiting for a table, but the manager kept sending out bread sticks and pizza to the ones waiting to get in. Very nice. Although, i have to admit, I got full on snacks before I got seated. Great service though. read more

I have visited Bella Note a few times. The food is good. The tomato basil soup is the best I have ever had! I was here today with a group of friends, and we were seated in the back room. Our servers were attentive and the food was good, but they were very slow. We had a long wait for our main course, and one member of our party had to get their order to go because she had to leave and go back to work. Although we enjoyed our afternoon it is not a restaurant I would recommend if you are in a hurry. read more

I always find the food excellent. I really like the penne Gorgonzola. The sauce has a lot of flavor and the chicken and bacon are a nice addition. The wood fired chicken is also really good. It comes with smashed potatoes and they are really good. I like the warm bread they bring to the table. It's a whole loaf and not your normal Italian bread that seems like it's been around for a few days I was really impressed with the management a few weeks ago when I ordered carry out. They forgot to give me my main dish which didn't make me happy obviously since I live in Nicholasville. When I spoke with the manager he immediately offered to redo my whole order and he personally delivered it to my house. That really impressed me as most places would have you drive back to the restaurant to make things right. read more

Excellent Italian food and our favorite in Lexington. I had a wonderful salmon filet with capers, sautéed green beans with slivered almonds. Started out with breaded fresh mozzarella and hot bread with dipping oil. The portions are very good and reasonably priced. Topped it off with a chocolate pave for dessert. How could I have never been to this gem of Italian cuisine? OMG from the appetizing sampler, to the Penne Arrabiata w/ grilled chicken ... they had me at hello, how many tonight? Our waitress, Catelyn was so friendly and knowledgeable about the entire menu, it made it that much more enjoyable. Oh, and even though I could not stuff an after dinner breath mint down ... we ordered the Chocolate soufflé, Panna cotta (coffee drizzled creme and strawberries) and of course the seasonal ricotta doughnuts with chestnut marzipan and bourbon glaze ... and just for good measure my wife and shared a latte to wash it down ... Expensive with small portions. Not worth it. I would post pics but it's not even worth it. My second and last time eating here. I ordered take out, I was in shock when I saw the size of the steak we ordered, it was laughable. Do Not order the steak as you will need to spend $100. to equal the size of a normal steak. It looked as though the food was prepared and packaged with no love!!! Not what you expect when you pay $90. for dinner. The steak came with a small portion of fries, all which were cold and soggy. Also ordered two pasta dishes that were also small for the price. Bottom line, don't go here if your hungry and expecting a full meal, as you'll leave still hungry, and dropped a big bill!! I'm absolutely kicking myself for not reviewing Bella Notte while it was fresh in my mind. In fact, I think this will be the push I need to write same-day reviews. My girlfriend and I came here after seeing the positive reviews during our stop in Lexington on our "Southern Road Trip" in June of 2016. The short of it is, we both absolutely loved this place. Here's the long - I enjoyed it so much that I still actually think about it from time to time. This past weekend, when my girlfriend randomly said to me that she often thinks about Bella Notte and has a great memory of our meal there too, I knew that it was something special. I immediately looked back to the Yelp page to read my review and see what exactly we ate - and that's when I realized I never wrote a review. Long story longer, we have no idea what we ate there. All we know is that we both absolutely loved it. I do feel like I remember the bruschetta specifically. I also remember that the atmosphere of the place was gorgeous. Looking at the pictures here, you can see that a lot of thought went into the design and ambience of this restaurant. It's just beautiful. I guess all I'm trying to say here is - Bella Notte, please come open another Bella Notte in Jersey City so that we can eat here all the time. read more

Although a little bit of a wait to be seated, it was a Friday night and we didn't have reservations so definitely understandable and expected. Once seated we ordered drinks and some soup to begin. The waiter brought us some fresh bread along with oil and herbs to dip our bread. I ordered a one of their seasonal drinks, a smoked apple cider old fashioned. My fiancé ordered just an old fashioned. Both great. The flavor profile on the smokes apple cider old fashioned was unlike many things I've had before. They muddle candied cherries in the drink instead of maraschino and garnish with them as well. So delicious! I ordered a cup of the butternut squash soup and my fiancé ordered a cup of the tomato basil soup. Both were phenomenal! Definitely would recommend both. I'm a sucker for anything butternut squash and that definitely didn't disappoint! For entrees my fiancé ordered ravioli topped with tomato basil cream sauce. I ordered lasagna ropes with tomato basil cream sauce. I know it sounds so simple and cliche to order both of those, but they were wonderful! Not super overloaded with sauce. The ravioli were huge! We finished with the chocolate soufflée for dessert. A great way to end the evening! Be sure to let your waiter know ahead of time so they have enough time to prepare. Bella Notte was the best Italian restaurant I've been to in ages. Not only was the Rigotoni Romano the perfect recommendation, but it was something that I wasn't even considering at first. Also, my waitress recommended a perfect pairing of beer, a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, that was original and refreshing. Finally, the coupe de grace was a chocolate souffle that ranks right up there in the top three souffles I have ever had. Even my waitress again made mention that it was possibly the best-looking souffle she's ever served at the restaurant. It was these two elements--a very helpful waitress and excellent fare--that made this small Italian place in the heart of Lexington my recommendation for top Italian place in all of Kentucky, and possibly the East Coast. read more

We have eaten here a couple of times while in town and have not been disappointed. The food is fresh, the restaurant is clean and everyone is friendly. If you have a dietary restriction (no pasta) they will substitute it for a veggie. I have had the chicken Alfredo with broccoli amazing. The chicken Parm with broccoli in a garlic sauce it was awesome. The sauce is fresh and light. The meat balls melt in your mouth, the fried zucchini ticks and fresh fried mozzarella was very good. The table next to us order their brioche, it looked amazing. We were so full we took desert to go. The cheese cake is a must and the espresso chocolate cake was also very good. I have been going to Bella Notte for at least 15 years. It is the birthday dinner selection of family and friends. The most recent visit was exception. My boyfriend and I visited on a Friday night around 7PM. We were seated promptly right under the tree with lights on it. The restaurant's atmosphere is lovely and warm. Our server greeted us promptly and informed us of the specials and took our drink orders. I had the peach and blackberry old fashioned (a nice idea but a little flat) and he had the blackberry whiskey sour (amazing). The great thing about Bella Notte is their seasonal menu. It shows tremendous respect for the ingredients they are using and the freshness of the dishes they produce is outstanding. The drinks were seasonal specials. I ordered the same thing I order every time - the penne pesto with chicken. It is fantastic. The chicken is moist and grilled to perfection, the pasta is cooked well, the pesto is creamy and hot and the piece de resistance - the toasted pine nuts. I also sampled the other dishes at the table and the seasonal pork chop is mind blowing and the chicken marsala is the best I have ever had. In terms of the service, I have had meals that were subpar here (everywhere has a bad night) and when mentioned to the waitstaff or management, the issue has always been resolved with politeness and courtesy. I think this is one of the best restaurants in town and consistently impress my out of town guests with what our city has to offer on the culinary landscape. read more
