The better half and I saw Dekton at a show and wanted to see more options and to see if it would be something that we could fit into the budget. Yes I know there are other options however you would have to be happy with the product and design as ones kitchen is one place where you go into pretty much every day so if you are going to spend money you should get what you like. We saw that Bella Pietra Design sold Dekton and when I walked into the store I saw so many options for flooring, backslash and showers. You could spend a good two hours looking and imagining what your place could look like as they have lots of varieties to choose from. I had the privilege of talking to Meagan and she showed me around the whole showroom. She is very knowledgeable in the products they sell. She was educating me the pros and cons with the different stones. One of the things that make it hard to pick out a certain design is that the samples are small and you can't see the while sheet. That's where Meagan told me she could set up a special showing of the whole sheet so we can get the actual feel and look of the design. Very professional and knowledgeable. As a former management consultant and current designer in Hawaii, I have learned the differentiator between disappointing and stellar results is the company's willingness to listen, attention to detail and most of all, eagerness to please. Bella Pietra has far exceeded my hopes for products and supreme service. They went far beyond my expectations to provide a unique tile from the mainland in record time. My order was more difficult to fulfill than the average order. I am aware they researched multiple avenues for delivery and made countless phone calls to their distributors, airlines and other service providers to meet my needs. Our contractor was under a contractural commitment to another large client in a short timeframe. They understood the difficult situation. As a result, they researched tile installation contractors to help in case our contractor had to leave before completing our project. Truly, they redefined my definition of stellar service. What can I say about Meagan and her team? Not enough words could describe how awesome they are. We had a new home construction project and pretty much got almost all our tile and stone through them. If there was something I needed she would always respond in seconds...if not in minutes LOL. I would send concept pictures and she would search all over through her suppliers to find what I needed and at a good price. Not to mention they sell Artistic Tile brand and is a designers dream. I was wanting to redo a kitchen and a master bathroom. Meagan and LaWanna, the owners, were both super friendly when I walked through the door. The products they carry are AMAZING!!! The problem wasn't finding something I liked but finding too many options I LOVED. After watching too much HGTV and having our first new kitchen, my fiance and I are in the market for a glass tile backsplash. After looking at the Big Box home improvement stores, I suggested we check out Bella Pietra. A locally owned company by the same owners of Geobunga, this is a great boutique store selling flooring of all sorts (from beautiful marble to granite and quartz) plus lots of natural slate/stone for outdoor applications. In addition, they have the largest and most diverse inventory of glass and ceramic backsplashes I've seen. The owner, Layla is very friendly and helpful and even let me take the color sample charts (with real tiles) home so we could test against our granite. While prices run high because these are designer lines of tiles and flooring, I believe you pay for what you get. We haven't decided 100% yet but we know we will be going to Bella Pietra when we decide. SUPPORT THE LOCALS!!! read more

However, both a construction inspector and a stone installer's opinion was that it was a crack. The developer required that a stone expert must provide a written opinion on the stone. I called nine stone experts, explained the situation, and requested their opinion, which I offered to pay for. The only one who quickly and positively responded was Layla Dedrick, the founder and owner of flooring, countertop, and lifestyle company Bella Pietra Design in Honolulu. Layla met me right away at my property, assessed the situation as a crack, and provided an opinion letter that same day. She declined my payment offer several times. If she "alohas" people the way she did with me, a stranger, I'm sure this same aloha permeates throughout her business. I'm going to Bella Pietra to make my future stone purchases. This place has some very nice mosaic tiles. I came here looking for a specific color to match my flooring and wasn't sure between two of the samples. The owner was very kind and helpful and let me take them home to compare it next to the floor. The prices are good and the customer service is as well. If you are getting a refund from this company, yes it takes longer then most companies, I'll completely agree with that. BUT, if your to nice and too patient with them, it seems like they will take all the time in the world. So I'm sorry to the person who posted about his refund taking forever there are so much more ways to get it back way quiker then the way you did it, come on, no one in their right mind would wait that long for that amount of money. I honestly wish I could give a review about Bella Pietra's stone but it's really hard to do that when I never received the products that I ordered/paid for... BE WARNED, THIS IS A LONG REVIEW WITH AN EXTENSIVE DESCRIPTION OF HOW HORRIBLE MY EXPERIENCE WAS... A 1 STAR RATING IS BEING EXTREMELY GENEROUS!!! I HAVE LEFT OUT ALL NAMES TO PROTECT THE GUILTY... I "purchased" an order for 2 large slabs of stone for counter tops back in July 2012. I was building an office on Oahu and ordered it while I was still living in Michigan. I was told that I needed to pay for it quickly to ensure that the slabs would be placed in the next container for shipment. It was estimated to take about 4-6 weeks to arrive and I would receive a call when it came in. 6 weeks pass and no word from the sales rep. 8 weeks pass and I leave a message for the sales rep... no return phone call. It's now the end of SEPTEMBER and I still have no idea what is going on with my order. I end up leaving 2 more messages and still no response. I get a call from the rep in mid OCTOBER telling me that she no longer works at Bella Pietra. She proceeds to tell me that my order came in but the wrong slabs were shipped... WTF?!?! WHEN WERE THEY GOING TO TELL ME THIS? She instructs me to call the manager and try to get a refund. TRY? Indeed... I ended up getting in touch with the "manager" around the end of NOVEMBER and explain that I wanted a full refund for the product that I paid for but never received. She says that she will have her accounting dept issue a refund back to the bank where I was taking out a business loan. 2 weeks pass and no refund. I called back again, ask about the refund, and end up getting some b.s. excuse about not having the bank address on file so they couldn't send the check. I have my bank project manager call with the information AND send an email with all the information. I even make sure that the banker explains that I am paying a 1% interim interest rate on the $5,000+ dollars that was paid to Bella Pietra (hoping that they would get the refund back as quickly as possible). I never even asked for them to pay the accrued interest. 3 more weeks pass and no refund. It's now the end of DECEMBER and I am now on Oahu. I leave a message on the manager's voicemail stating that I will have my attorney get involved... IT'S LIKE MAGIC! I GET A CALL BACK WITHIN 24 HOURS. Same old lines... "we will have the refund sent out... we never received the address from the bank... blah blah blah" All while I'm staring at the email he sent 3 weeks ago. Another email is sent from the bank with all the information needed to receive the check. 2 more weeks pass and still nothing... BTW, IT'S JANUARY. I called for the last time and said I was coming to their store to pick up the check the next day; if the check was not ready I would have my attorney contact them. I get a call back from the manager saying that the refund check could not be ready for me to pickup until the following week. (I'm about ready to start hulking out and destroying things). I demand to know why it has taken this long and a stammering response of "I just forgot, I'm sorry" comes out. I am told that the accountant will call me when the check is ready "sometime next week". JANUARY 24th, 2013... I HAVE THE REFUND CHECK FOR the $5,000+ I feel like I'm dreaming... dry land is not a myth... UN-EFFING-BELIEVABLE In hindsight, I should have taken them to small claims court to get back the 1% interim interest that was accrued from the loan ($350) and for my time having to deal with this idiocy. I was too patient and trying to be too nice. I never received the stone and now I actually owe $350 in interest. AWESOME... I will never step foot in this place. I will never refer friends or family. The selection and inventory was very nice, and the sales staff were helpful without being pushy. However, after purchase the tile took 9 weeks to deliver when the original estimate was 5-6 weeks. That would have been ok except that when I called after 6 weeks for eta, they said it was on island and would be unloaded that week. What followed was 3 weeks of "I'll call you right back" or "leave a message and someone will get back to you." And it never comes back that day. It takes two or three tries to get ahold of someone and the only person to call back is the owner. The WORST PART when the tile finally came in only half the order came in. When I asked where the rest was, there was some confusion as to where it was. Then the owner called and said it would be in on Tuesday morning after a long weekend! When I picked it up, it was not the tile I ordered, in fact it was from Lowes! Which was 1/3 the price of the tile I purchased from them and she tried to pass it off as what I ordered. read more

I purchased some stone on clearance and when it was delivered--MANY were broken. The guy just said, OH WELL. I called THREE times about this and they said OH WELL...you waited too long for delivery (kept it for 2 months while our build made room to place it but they said no biggie!) you took a chance, not our fault...etc etc. I'm in mid remodel and will NEVER buy anything from these guys again. If you sell on sale--that does NOT mean that what you buy can be defective/broken/poorly handled/no care what happens. It cost over 500.00! BLEAH! read more

We needed tile right away, so we visited Bella Pietra with high hopes. Sadly, their in stock selection is very, very limited. The tiles I liked had to be special ordered and we were told the shipment won't be in for about 8 weeks maybe longer. The saleslady was courteous and tried to be helpful (checking stock etc. and suggesting alternatives) but ultimately, we left disappointed with the selection. Over priced low quality stone with bad service to boot.

I can't even explain the embarrassment that Bella Pietra has caused me as a professional. My client was required to pay full price for his granite counter tops being assured by Bella Pietra that they would be delivered in a few weeks. That was three months ago, and we are still waiting. I can't even get a call back from them. Awful. I am informing every contractor that I know, of their incompetence. I would definitely recommend an alternate retailer for your stone and tile needs. Please read all negative reviews before you order from this company. They may be local but there are better local companies out there. This is a long review, sorry. They seem very nice when you place your order for slabs and pay in full. I ordered & paid for 2 slabs of soapstone from Bella Pietra on Aug 21, 2015. I spoke w/ Layla Dedrick and gave her the cc# over the phone. Was told there was an ETA of 3-5 weeks. Aug 27, she informed me it would be about 3 weeks ETA. Sept 24, I was told by Layla that the slabs were on the way and would arrive between Oct 1-6. Oct 8, I was told by one of her staff that the slabs hadn't arrived. Layla did not return my calls. I sent an email expressing my disappointment and asking for refund if the slabs were not going to arrive soon. Oct 9, Layla emailed me - slabs were on island and they were waiting for offloading from Matson. I was assured that that would be no later than the following Monday Oct 12. Oct. 13, I called and she did not take my call. I emailed again asking her to get back as soon as possible. Oct 14, after multiple calls to Bella P, I received an email from Layla saying the slabs would be taken directly to the fabricator Friday Oct 16 as Bella Pietra doesn't offload slabs at their warehouse. She said she would be in contact with the fabricator. When I checked with the fabricator they had heard nothing from Bella P. The slab was not delivered. Oct 20, I sent an email after 4 calls to the business, each call ending with a promise to call me right back (within the hour) no one returned my calls. Stated that I want the slabs delivered by Friday Oct 23 or full refund. Oct 21, Layla emailed that the slabs would be delivered to the fabricator by Thurs or Fri. The amount I paid was $8984.39 for 2 slabs that I selected via photos from their online products. 2 specific slabs. I had notified the fabricators that I wanted to see the slabs when they arrived. Friday Oct. 23, I received a call from the fabricators that 2 slabs had arrived and to come see them. These were NOT the slabs I ordered. They look nothing like the slabs I ordered. So not only was my ordered delayed, it was not the product I ordered. I emailed Layla, again expressing my disappointment and stated I wanted a refund or I was going to dispute the charge on my credit card. No response. The next day Saturday, Oct 24, I physically went down to Bella Pietra. I had only ever spoken to Layla by phone and had been told earlier in the week when I called that she was in NY. When I arrived I asked the one person in shop her name before she could ask mine. Yes it was Layla, when I introduced myself she stumbled over her words. I told her I was unhappy with the late delivery and wrong product. I wanted a refund. To her credit, she did refund my credit card that day. She did try to make excuses, first blaming her supplier and then insisting that the slabs I ordered must be on island somewhere. Very confused, potentially lying. I do not trust this company. By the way, I found the 2 slabs that looked very similar, same material, soapstone, as the ones delivered, in town for 1/3rd the price she charged me. I didn't but them as they are not what I want. I don't know what happened, but I posted a review in February or March 2013 and it has since vanished. It was a fair and honest recap of our recent buying experience at Bella Pietra. This time I'll just make it short and to the point. The positive: Great products, salespeople are helpful in the beginning. The negative: full payment required for backorder merchandise, merchandise didn't arrive after their 6 week estimated time, lots of followup needed to which I received lots of runaround excuses. Believe it or not, there was still a happy ending to it all. We were able to get a full refund, but only after many calls. That was close! read more

It has taken me 8 months before I could calm down enough to write a reviewI I would give the company zero stars if I could. Would a 9 month wait time acceptable to you? I would never recommend Bella Pietra to anyone. They display and SELL stone that is no longer in stock and they are extremely unresponsive. In early December 2013, I ordered and PAID IN FULL some beautiful stone (Rainforest Green), in a 12x24" size, that was displayed in their showroom in addition to some other glass tile. We were going to use the stone for our kitchen floor. It was expensive, but it was beautiful and we designed our kitchen around the color and texture. In late January/early Feb 2014 (about 8-9 weeks), I was informed that the tile was on order and that I should get it in a couple of weeks. This was one of the only two phone calls that would be initiated by the company. A couple weeks later, I called the salesperson, and I was informed that it would be arriving in a few days. I called in a few days, and found out that it was the GLASS tile would be arriving shortly, not the stone. This was in February. I asked about the stone and the salesperson said that she would have to talk to the warehouse manager to see when that would be coming in. I called in a couple of days after I didn't hear from her. I left a message for her to call me back. She called me back the next day (second and last phone call that the company initiated) and said their vendor no longer carried the product. I was very angry. I told her that we were counting on the tile since we had designed our kitchen around it and had already ordered and paid for our cabinets and countertop! She said she would see what they could do. I called back a few days later and after many unreturned phone calls, I got a hold of her and she said that they would be able to provide us with 12x12 tile that they could get us in a couple of weeks. I told her that that was unacceptable to us. After many more calls into the company without any returned phone calls, I got a hold of the salesperson. She said that they would be able to order the tile directly from the manufacturer in India. Long story short, after about 20 calls to the company without any returned calls (I am NOT exaggerating!!) and our contractor calling the company and finally talking to the owner, Layla, we received our stone tile in AUGUST 2014!!! (A few days of the delay was the result of the shipping strike). This was 9 months after our order date. The late delivery held up the completion of our project by at least a month. I talked to the owner about some compensation and she agreed to work something out, with the comment that, in hindsight, they should have cancelled our order and offered the 12x12" size to us. After a couple of emails to follow up on the offer of compensation, I gave up. If you do decide to go with this company, make sure they call their vendor to see if the product is in stock before you pay for anything. Make sure you have a LOT of leeway in your construction schedule, and do not expect any phone calls to be returned. After I shared my story with some co-workers, they shared their experiences with me. I heard negative stories from two of my co-workers about incredibly poor service, many unreturned phone calls, delays in delivery and vendor not carrying product anymore. One of my co-workers said he was particularly disappointed because he wanted to give the business to the company because the owner was a former student in his management class that he taught. I wish they had shared this info beforehand. I must say that Layla was very nice, her company just didn't deliver what it promised and she keeps employees that are unresponsive and appear not to know what is going on with their client orders. The receptionist is awesome. I am sorry I don't remember her name. (I remember now. It is Kuulei) . I was on the phone with her more than anyone else and she often (I think she did), tried to find whoever I was trying to get a hold of and left many many message for me. The warehouse person was also very nice, when I stopped by several times to see if the tile had come in. 6/18/2015: Layla contacted me after my review was posted to offer compensation for my experience. After a few emails back and forth, we worked out an arrangement that was acceptable to both of us. In addition, she offered a discount on any future purchases. I had been in Bella Pietra a few times in the past while kicking the tires with some ideas but recently needed to make some decisions on a major project. I was lucky enough to show up on a day when there was an excellent sale and purchased almost 1400 ft of tile at a very fair price. I found the quality of product and selection to be outstanding at Bella Pietra but that isn't what separates this business. Not only did I have a great sales person named Don (woman) but the owner Andrew stepped in and spent far more time than I could have ever expected helping me. He offered lots of ideas, made calculations, suggested installation techniques and was an overall great guy. With the size of their operations and volume of customers I would never expect the owner to be so engaged. I highly recommend their business. read more

We ordered Basalt tiles in a variety of finishes & shapes and sizes for our whole home remodel. We bought the 12 X 24 X .5 honed for the living room, the random sizes puka sawn cut for the entry and the puka flagstone (much thicker) for the exterior path leading up the front door. We worked with Meghan and with the owner, Layla Dedrick. It was a pleasure doing business with them from start to finish. They were very clear on what they had in stock, how long it would take to bring items in and that they could store our order until we were ready. They arranged for a 3rd party delivery for the initial order since it was a huge order--this was very convenient and appreciated. Once arrived, we actually changed our minds on one of the orders (we originally went with a 24 X .75 puka lava flagstone for the entries, but ultimately realized we'd prefer the sawn-cut) and Layla made the transition no big deal. You might not realize how big a deal this is until you are in the middle of a remodel in Hawaii and you have to special order everything! Having a company calmly work to meet your needs is true customer service and valuable in this day and age. Layla then arranged for delivery for the rest of our order and allowed the replacement order to be delivered at the same time at no additional cost. The deliverymen were courteous and efficient and they always showed up on time. This company has integrity! I intend to do more business with them in the future and I would not hesitate to recommend them to others. read more

staff is very limited here, i honestly have never been to a business where a supervisor or maneger is not available at all times, on Saturdays there are only 2 workers!!! 1 sales women and the receptionist. Whats the point of being open with no one their to help answer my questions! The receptionist was polite and also felt very bad that she was unable to help us and when the sales lady was finally available, she was very helpful. But I did also have to wait for a refund and it took forever!! I would leave messages for the maneger and owner and neither of them were returning my call!! The girl who works in their storagre area was more helpful then the management or owner she apologized for something that wasn't even her fault. Made the mistake of paying in advance. They were to call when the shipment of granite came in. No call. After a month of dodging me they said the shipment was in but a truck was not available to take it from the ship to the store. Finally, the shipment came in to the store, but it was only the number of slabs that we had ordered. We were told that our type of granite was always in stock in quantity so that we could pick the slabs that we liked best. This didn't happen, so we felt that the color was grayer than we had hoped. Also the back splash was delivered as 5" instead of 6" as ordered. Because we had a schedule to make with the general contractor we took what was available. The color is growing on us, but I wouldn't order it from them if there is ever a second time. read more

We placed an order in December, was told full payment was required and arrival would take 4-6 weeks. Needless to say, the 6 weeks turned into 8 weeks after repeated follow up and what finally dawned on me as runaround excuses. I was starting to get a little suspicious about the situation and decided to see if there might be any BBB complaints on file. Negative, BUT lo and behold .... i find all these yelps instead and now I'm extremely nervous about having prepaid for something that I may never receive. I jump on it. I pay a visit to the store the very next day and request a refund. There is no resistance but I am told that the accountant needs to process the credit back to my charge card. Another flag. I don't get the email promised me to confirm the credit back so I call the store. They say it was processed and they will email me. I receive the email right away and double check my credit card account to be sure. Whew! That was close! I did not have a good experience with the Honolulu location. I ordered a vein cut travertine because the sales consultant said they would be able to have it in approx 7 days. It was available on the Big Island location which I normally buy from but I would of had to pay shipping cost over to Oahu. Since this was for a project I was doing on Oahu and the sales consultant assured me they would have it in 7 days I placed my order fully paid upfront as it included shipping from the mainland. After 7 days there was no call from the store. I waiting 14 days and still no call. I attempted to call the store and left several messages but no response. I was able to speak to a sales associate who stated the order had not arrived. It amazed me that no one there seemed concerned about my order or cared to call me back. A simple call from them letting me know the order had not arrived or was delayed would of sufficed. After several attempts I was assured the general manager would get back to me. She did not return my call. I finally got her on the phone and she said she would personally handle the status of my order and update me by phone or email. That was the last I heard from her. After 1 month of waiting I paid a visit to the store. I walked in and it was completely empty. I was shocked and thought they had closed for business. There was a desk and a tattooed girl who was very helpful and looked up my order. She called the general manager and found out my order was arriving soon and which day. I got a call from this same girl on the day she said it would arrive and was finally able to pick up my order of travertine. The tattoo girl was the only one that genuinely wanted to help, was concerned, followed up on my order and notified me when it arrived. I won't be visiting this store again but if your reading this I'd suggest to speak to the nice tattooed girl first if you appreciate good customer service after all isn't that what keeps customers coming back. read more
