Love this salon! Everyone is genuinely friendly, the music is usually good, and you can sip on wine or other beverages during your service. They also have a great variety of carefully selected products (including all natural brands like Eufora). I'm in love with my incredible stylist Samantha Martin (@samsfeelgoodinc on IG) who expertly interprets my ever changing hair cut & color desires into a shiny, healthy looking reality. I've been seeing her for several years and wouldn't dream of going to anyone else. I haven't gotten a mani/pedi or other services there yet, but I love that I can see Samantha for all of them (because she's a pro at everything). Nice place. Very edgy salon I thought anyone here will be great. Sadly the haircut I got and haircut I wanted (invisioned) were 2 separate things. I did the walk of shame to my car and immediately tried to salvage the style she had given me. No luck. my hair was cut so short and especially the bangs were so short there is nothing I can do. I work a hat to work the next day And stopped by a wig shop until my hair can grow back out. My mistake for being impulsive and going to a new salon with a new stylist. I'm half-Asian and white and I've had problems with makeup for my entire life. I like makeup, I like how I look in it, but I can't follow most tutorials because I have these in-between facial features that the YouTuber's techniques don't translate well on. I can do insane party makeup and a daily-wear look, but anything in between becomes a train wreck. I discovered that Bella offered a makeup lesson as one of their services and I figured I'd just have a pro teach me what my unique coloring and shapes need to get the look I want. After all my dermatologist taught me how to properly care for my skin, my mechanic tells me how to care for my car, why not just have pros teach me the things I don't know?! The salon itself is lovely and the staff is welcoming. My MUA was Amber, who's a fun little spitfire with a passion for makeup. She started with discussing a basic skincare regime (which I'd betting getting down pat over the last couple of years), then we got into the nitty gritty. She used Smashbox products and she started by teaching me about the various primers that exist and what I should look for to get the effect and wear that I want, methods of application, how to find the right colors for me and more. We went through the order of application and how to determine placement of color and more. It felt like a painting class, honestly, and I left with a flawless face and the first good-looking smokey eye of my life. I legit almost teared up seeing how amazing I looked. For anyone who's tried following along with tutorials only to end up looking a hot mess, or bought makeup that looked right in the store but awful at home, or just wants to finally figure out how to get their brow game on point, I would 100% recommend their makeup lesson! read more

I've been a horrible harlot of a hair snob. I've been all over town, shamelessly throwing myself into chair after chair, looking for that person that would be THE ONE. I found one stylist that I loved, but alas, like C-Lo's song opines, "if I was richer, I'd still be with [him]"... I just couldn't afford to keep going there. Then I found someone whose skills were DEEEvine (that's you, Henri)... but then he abruptly quit doing hair and defected to a desk job, leaving scores of women with needy hair in his wake. Henri, bless his traitorous soul, referred me to Steven at Bella Salon. And with this, he was forgiven: Steven is pretty darn good. Every other colorist has tried to make me blonder and blonder with every visit, and Steven just LISTENS and gives me what I ask for. I don't have trouble getting an appointment with him within a few days, and looking in the mirror isn't met with the bittersweet feeling I've had at other salons of realizing that for that nice, pretty hair, I am now too broke to go out and show it off. I'm almost afraid to post this for fear that others will like him too and getting an appointment will become more difficult... read more

I treat myself to a lot of sushi and wine so facials happen usually upon a rare gift certificate or group buying discount site. Thanks to Vanity Network I was treated to a free 30 minute facial. Who needs to eat during lunch when you can get a facial (sold)! I check in and am instructed to take a seat on a couch near the hair salon. The space is modern and open with a comfy feel to it. 25 minutes go by :(. Yes this is suppose to be my "lunchtime" and time is running short. After the 25 minutes of contemplating thoughts as "well sometimes appointments get backed up" sort of excuses, my niceness & patience finely fad (I know, probably too nice..I am working on that). I walk up to a different receptionist and ask how much longer of a wait there is. The receptionist had no idea I had checked in and it turns out there were two Amys with appointments (?). Everyone is super apologetic. So why Is this review not 1 star? CARRIE BERRY, that is why. Carrie is an amazing aesthetician with this great aura about her. I am not fond of "relaxing" massages or facials but I felt at ease with Carrie and was convinced my skin was glowing when I walked out the door. One thing I would love if they changed, please don't put people in the spa waiting area/closet where the filing cabinet takes up 1/2 the space...the couches in the front is much nicer. read more

I came in a literal panic after another salon destroyed my long hair with bleach. I cried myself to sleep the night before thinking the rest of my hair was going to continue to fall off. I was in Austin for the weekend this October and I was having a HAIR CRISIS. I had neglected to trim my hair for several months. (I was busy, y'all!) So, on this particular morning, far away from my home-base hairdresser, I woke up and could no longer tolerate my tangled, frizzy, damaged hair. So, I looked on Yelp for a decent salon within walking distance, and here was Bella! I called them up and got an appointment that very morning with Melody. Boy did I luck out. Melody knew exactly what to do with my hair! Despite its dry, limp state; I had plastered it to my head in a ponytail out of desperation; she could see the swan within. She correctly identified the normal curl in my hair, and after a good shampooing, a bunch of very useful hair tips, and a consultation on the style I would like, she commenced to "brick-cutting" my hair to bring out the curl. The cut turned out very well and two months later, it's still in great shape! I would absolutely recommend Melody to any curly-headed folks out there in Austin. So I'm new to Austin and looking for my "go-to salon/spa". This is the place I'll visit every 4-8 weeks for hair cuts, keratin treatments, facials, eye brow waxings, etc. Instead of getting burned and wasting a ton of money visiting Salons around town, paying full price and not be satisfied with what they did, I decided to buy a Groupon in advance to at least save on testing places out. I bought a hair cut Groupon to Bella and called to scheduled. After getting the run around about times available and having the receptionist suggest I go into work late by having a 9am hair cut, I decided to cancel my order right away with Groupon. There are to many other salons in town to deal with this. If I can't get a hair cut without missing work, than that Salon is not for me. If there are specific restrictions about hours or using Groupons on the weekend, or only 9-5 M-F, than it needs to explicitly state this. Although the receptionist seemed nice on the phone, I definitely felt like she was pushing me off and only offering specific times during the day like 9am, 11:15am, 11:45am. read more

The first time I visited Bella I hit a speed bump and ended up leaving. The manager reached out to me and offered to make things right, and I can say with confidence I'm glad I gave them a second chance. Jennifer did a great job with my difficult head of hair (seriously, it's thicker than carpet, has about 6 cow licks, and curls at random, indeterminate intervals) so I will definitely be returning. The cut is so good, something like 4 women whistled at me in my car on the way home. OK, nobody whistled at me. Even the homeless guy who was already whistling stopped when I approached him just to eliminate any confusion. What an asshole! PS - totally irrelevant to the quality of work Bella seems to be doing, but the place looks great. I've had three different stylists here... Molly, Lindsey, and Christina. The first two have gone off to pursue other endeavors. The third, Christina Melendez, has taken care of me twice. I trust her completely, and I can't imagine her letting me down. I just love not having to do the thing at the end where you have to nitpick about little things and make them cut more here and there. She just knows what she's doing. Today I was in and outta there like lightning. We got the shampoo and haircut done with no "little requests" at the end, and I was out the door 20min after I came in!! :O shooom! Bella really seems to hire only the best. I have been to Bella Salon twice. The first time I got a haircut, which turned out well. On the stylist's recommendation, I went in-house to get a Yuko Japanese thermal reconditioning (permanent hair straightening). I had this process performed on my hair once before, 6 months ago, in Japan. Other than that, my hair is chemically untouched. The day of my treatment, I enjoyed the conversation and environment. But the end product was a waste of 3 hours. I visited the restroom before leaving and inspected my hair. The underside of my hair was wavy and crimped looking. Additionally, the stylist did not dry my hair to completion (which he admitted to), leaving much of the underside damp. I returned to his chair and informed him that I had noticed my hair not being fully straight. He had me sit back down in his chair and then he blow dried my hair a bit more and straightened it with a flat iron a bit more. I left with my hair still damp and not straight. Due to the harsh chemicals used in this treatment it can only be done once every 6 months (4 months maybe if you really push it). I have to wait until summer to have this process performed on my hair again, even though my hair came out looking the same after as it did before. I did not get my hair even remotely wet for 48 hours (as instructed). On the second day, I contacted the salon and spoke with the manager. I informed her of the situation and told her I wanted to speak in person. I was able to do so just a few minutes after getting off the phone. When I arrived, she was very pleasant and understanding. She was very willing to give me my money back, pending conversing with the stylist who performed my treatment. I made an appointment to speak with him, which ending up being unnecessary. I was phoned a day later and informed that he was willing to give me the money back without meeting with me. I greatly appreciate having my money refunded because this was a $300 treatment that had an end result of looking like nothing was done. tl;dr One good haircut (although she gave a rotten haircut to my boyfriend, so that balances out to a 3 out of 5). One very bad Japanese thermal reconditioning: 1 out of 5. One good customer service experience: 5 out of 5. Due to the nature of this treatment, I have to wait 6 months to have it redone, yet it appears as if the service was not even performed; this is why the thermal reconditioning is much more heavily weighted. read more

After a terrible experience with a different salon and hardly any eyebrows left on my face, I put all my trust into Jacquelyn to bring my almost non-existent brows back to life. My sorority sister/coworker, Cheryl, and I received $50 gift cards from the law firm we work at (thanks!) and decided to finally put it to good use. We opted for pedi's since I had recently had my hair and nails done. Bella is so beautiful and relaxing. Our pedi's turned out great and we had a great time because everyone there was so friendly. So upset. Turned my hair bright orange!!! :( I came here for routine blonde highlights on my brown hair, something I've been doing for years. My hair looked fine when I left Bella so I thought it was okay...I woke up the next morning and my hair was bright orange! I called immediately and they told me to email them photos of my hair so they could assess what needed to be done, which I did, but then I never heard back. I emailed again and got no response, so I called twice more and finally got someone at the front desk to talk to me the next day. I told them that my hair was orange and that I was going out of town to a family reunion and needed to have it fixed ASAP. They explained that they're closed 3 days of the week, which happened to be the 3 days leading up to my departure. In tears, I asked them if there was any possible way I could come in sooner at any time to see any stylist and they said no and that the color fix would only be comped if I went to the same stylist. In the end they couldn't fit me in with her for another 2 weeks. Since I couldn't have orange hair for 2 weeks, I called my old salon and they were able to take me the next day. They did the best they could to make the orange look blonde, but now I'm out the cost of 2 full highlights and I still look kind of ginger :( I totally understand that accidents happen with color and that this salon has operating hours that they can't change, but I was really disappointed that Bella didn't make any type of effort to squeeze me in or accommodate me considering the situation. I know it's just hair, but I went from brunette with blonde highlights to brassy orange and their response didn't really show much care for what happened :( read more

I showed pictures of exactly what I wanted (black roots melting into purple with pink ends to hide my roots) and what I didn't want (stark roots showing with a uniform peach pink color). I've never spent so much money and time at a salon and been so unhappy with the results and I've had my hair fried. After +6 hours I walked out looking the exact shade of horrible I didn't want, but now with an even more visible outgrowth. I was promised a Keratin treatment and I didn't get it because my hair "didn't need it"... not true. I asked for a redo which would have cost at least $120 (FOR A REDO) since Bella only fixes it for free if they feel they screwed up, which they didn't feel they did this time... also not true. How about a refund? No, didn't get that either. The entire process was humiliating and insulting. read more

Went here about a month ago for the first time. It was a very good experience! I got a massage, facial and haircut. The massage was deep tissue, and man she knew what she was doing! I don't think anyone has ever worked that deep on me before - the painful, you-know-it's-working deep. It was just what I needed! The facial was also hands-down the best I'd ever received anywhere! Smooth skin, tiny pores, it was like magic! I never have received a facial where the results lasted as long as this one did... so great. And then with my haircut, I explained what I wanted - a short bob, tapered in the back, able to be worn different ways with different parts - and it turned out perfect. She listened to what I wanted, asked me questions about how I like to style it and how much time I usually take, etc. - very thorough, very precise. She cut it wet, then was meticulous at getting every hair perfect after it was dried. Everyone was very friendly. I wish I could remember everyone's name! They recommended facial and hair products (which were admittedly quite expensive), but it was easy to turn down. The price wasn't cheap but it wasn't expensive either, especially considering how high quality the whole experience was. Loved it. Will definitely be back. read more
