Came here with friends recently. Small, intimate dining area; saw parties going upstairs but have only ever been seated downstairs. Staff was very friendly, drinks were great, salads and desserts were fine. Prices are average for Fairfied County, maybe a tad better for nice Italian. We ordered the Frittira Mista which was supposed to have calamari and baby shrimp but there was only one shrimp on the plate?! No complaints about two out of three pasta dishes, including a special, but the orecchiette with shrimp was also lacking shrimp. A very few small pieces that maybe added up to 2-3 medium sized shrimp total. Maybe they were running low on shrimp this day? Have been before and will return; everyone deserves a second chance. read more

I stopped by when looking for a new place. I was just getting take out. I have driven by this place many times in the past and always wanted to check it out. It is a small home with a driveway leading to a small parking lot. I would estimate you can park about 6 cars. You can enter the restaurant from the back door by the parking lot and it reminded me of the home I grew up in. Right from the outset I am impressed by the staff. It really is like walking into your family's house on a day when there will be lots of food. Everyone is welcoming but not In a formal or pretentious way. It is small - 7 tables inside and another two outside. I am sad that I came for take out. I think I will have to come back for the full experience - it will be worth it. I went simple for dinner getting the caprese salad and the chicken Milanese. These are staples in Italian restaurants. While I waited for my food they asked me to sit at one of their tables and severed me a drink. A nice man was leaning into the kitchen having a discussion with someone I could not see. I understood a bunch of it but he was speaking a very fast Italian. He acknowledged me as he walked by to greet a group sitting at the back table and they spoke like cousins who only see each other at special occasions. My wife and I enjoyed the food. The caprese was fresh - both the tomatoes and the mozzarella were perfect and the balsamic they used was authentic and thick. The chicken Milanese was a thin pounded chicken breast that was lightly breaded and fried to perfection - moist and delicious. After we finished we longed to see the dessert menu. But alas when you get take out you can't have the full experience. Next time we will. I look forward to rejoin this family in their Italian home. I agree with people who say this would be a romantic place for a date but I also think you can bring your teens in and really enjoy a good meal. read more

Food has always been good when I've gone here. Usually, get chicken, but the salads are good too. Linguini with clams is also a star dish. The service is excellent, and the waiters are always happy with a friendly chat. Overall this place feels homey and has quality food. read more

Great little spot that if you blink, you might miss as you don't expect it to be there. Went here on a Saturday night with a few friends and it did not disappoint. Staff is friendly and welcoming. No apps as we went head first into wine and dinner. I had the bacon wrapped fillet and grilled shrimp and my wife had the lamb chops so we could split. Both were cooked to perfection and the season on the lamb was to die for! Green beans as our side. We are on keto now so pasta and potatoes were not an option. Others picked some specials and were not disappointed. The lobster ravioli were giant and stuffed so i am told! Had some espresso and two friends split the tiramisu which they said was awesome! This is a family owned restaurant and thats just were the best part starts. I grew up in a traditional southern italian home, the meal we had took me back to my child hood. Not only was it cooked absolutely perfect the flavor and presentation was exactly what you would want and expect. I would give this restaurant 100 stars if I could. This review is long over due! Bella Sera is a family owned restaurant and all of the workers are family members! It has such a warm and inviting atmosphere. I threw my mother a surprise birthday party here a few months ago. We had the whole upstairs area to ourselves. There were about 35 of us and there was plenty of room. Marco, the chef and co-owner, worked out the menu with me. We started the party with crackers and cheese. We had pasta and salad as starters and guests chose between eggplant, chicken and fish. EVERYONE raved about their food. We chose to bring in our own dessert and they served coffee and tea. The food was absolutely amazing and very reasonably priced. Planning a surprise party (and keeping it a surprise) can be a little challenging but Marco and Fabio (co-owner) helped make this all easier! They worked with us with arranging the tables and having everything set up the way we wanted it. They even saved my mother and I a space in the parking lot and "played dumb" when my mom arrived and they were deciding where to seat her. They even had a glass of rosé waiting for her immediately after the surprise! She was in absolute shock and the party was a huge success. We honestly couldn't have picked a better place to throw this party. A lot of guests said that they always drive by Bella Sera and have always wanted to try it but for some reason, never have. After having such a wonderful experience, we all plan on going back. Between the hospitality, food, and atmosphere, Bella Sera is hard to beat! read more

This is a hidden gem in Fairfield. Authentic Italian cuisine and family owned; one brother is the chef the other is a waiter. The ambiance is just right, great service and the food is absolutely delicious. Since it's one of our favorite restaurants, we decided to celebrate our son's 40th birthday on the second floor. Our buffet selections were; Chicken Marsala, Salmon Provenzale and Tortelini Alfredo with shrimp and everything was delicious. My guest loved the food!!! Came here for dinner last week and was very impressed with everything. The restaurant is in a converted house, so there's a downstairs dining room as well as an upstairs with bar area. The place maintains a "homey" feel while still having a trendy and classy decor. It really works well for a place with excellent home-made Italian food. For an appetizer we had the antipasto, fresh mozzarella and marinated artichokes really set off the night well. For dinner I had the steak mushroom risotto. It was delicious, the meat was really flavorful and the risotto was nice and light. Didn't get to have any dessert becasue we were really full, but I'll definitely be back again. read more

Delicious food in a charming, if simple, setting. There were four for dinner and we all ate pasta - homemade gnocchi with sausage and white beans, homemade pappardelle with mushrooms and two had the rigatoni with eggplant and mozzarella. We all cleaned our plates. Service was very good - attentive not pushy - and Andrea B. sang quietly in the background. Finally, here's a neighborhood place where I can bring friends and not go through the "Where are we going to eat?", "I don't want anything too spicy", "I've never had that kind of food" because you know we were always going to have Italian, but we just didn't know where. The food here is excellent. The atmosphere is small and cozy, like you are eating an Italian meal in your own living room. I never made it to the second floor, but assume it was as nice as the first. I enjoyed the chicken parm, which was a special that evening and a lovely speciality cocktail that was made to perfection. I came to Bella Sera for a birthday dinner. They were very accommodating to our large party. We were seated upstairs which was quiet and had its own bar. We started with the calamari and the antipasto milano. Both were delicious. Our server was flexible with changes to an entree. I had the pappardelle bolognese. Honestly, I am suspicious of any negative review of this ALWAYS consistently wonderful restaurant. We eat in. We take out. I'm embarrassed to say sometimes once a week! We take friends and family and NEVER once in all the years we've been going to Bella Sera have we had a bad meal! Mother and son are in the kitchen making homemade, authentic Italian food. My husband and I went to Bella Sera based on the excellent reviews on Yelp. It is located in a converted house, and is very charming. We were seated immediately on the first floor, which had about five tables. I understand there is an additional dining room upstairs. The waitress was very friendly. However, I was disappointed in the food. I ordered Chicken Scarpariello, which is one of my favorites, and when I see it on a menu (which is rare), I always order it. This was nothing like what I'm used to. It was served on mashed potatoes and covered with a glutinous light brown gravy, which tasted dreadful. My husband enjoyed his Linguine with Clams, but said he's had better elsewhere. We began with a Caesar Salad, which was just mediocre. In addition, there is a pass-through to the Kitchen and I noticed that no-one there was wearing a hat or harnet. That really turned me off. read more

I cannot speak for the quality of their restaurant, but if you spot their food truck, BUYER BEWARE. My mother and I were at an event yesterday and decided to each purchase a slice of pizza - YIKES! It looked like they had reheated it for us for what must have been the third time. Who knows how long it had been sitting out. I noticed the pizza tasted quite salty, and even after trying to remove some of the grease with a napkin, it was still a sodium ridden mess. Such a small, low quality slice for four dollars. This place took my breath away, literally, as that afternoon/evening we both started having TERRIBLE stomach pains, and we STILL are having them the next day! I should have taken a hint from the young boy who was in the truck with some of the workers, as he was doubled over the counter. Maybe he had a slice, too. If you go to a Bella Sera food truck, know that you are paying a ridiculous price for a bad taste in your mouth and an even worse pain in your stomach. read more

When my friend and I walked into Bella Sera, the place was empty, which immediately made me nervous (but it's Halloween, so no one goes out!), however, we were greeted with a smile from Fabio and had our pick of tables. We started off with a bottle of Chianti (Albola 2013), which was delicious, and some of their house made bread. The bread was so soft, fluffy, and fresh--it paired very well with their olive oil. Following the bread, we got the Antipasto Milano, which contained a delicious assortment of meats and vegetables, as well as a creamy mozzarella. For entrees, I got the fettuccine carbonara (a special) and my friend got the veal saltimbocca. Both were delicious! Following our entrees, we ordered glasses of port (Sandeman's 10 year), which was so tasty. With our port, we tried the featured flavors of gelato--pumpkin and cannoli, both of which were delightful.
