Fairfield's best kept secret! Strip mall eating can be so hard but Sonia's gourmet kitchen does it well. Everything we had tonight was delicious and perfectly cooked. There's a wide menu option for all types of people, Children and adults alike. The atmosphere is so charming. The decor is beautiful (not expected) and our service was great too! Very attentive. This is a must try if you're in Fairfield.

    Gnocchi with Sausage

In town for a college visit and stopped by Sonia's for dinner with the family. Immediately entering we were greeted by several. We ordered the Eggplant Parmesan, Gnocchi with sausage, Alfredo and Alfredo with mushrooms. All the food was amazing, I was a huge fan of the Gnocchi with Sausage! Services was amazing and all the employees were very attentive during the dinner service. I would highly recommend Sonia's if you're in the area.

Had an absolutely fantastic dinner at this hidden spot in a strip mall in Fairfield. If you weren't looking carefully you might miss it! I went there for a friend's birthday celebration. They handled our large group seamlessly and with friendliness. Despite the front looking like a pizza place, the restaurant aspect is beautiful and intimate. The food was absolutely delicious. I wanted everything on the menu but I settled for the in house made gnocchi, which was amazing. We also tried the garlic toast and the mozzarella sticks which were some of the best I have ever had. My dad had the Bolognese which he was raving about all the way home. I rarely clean my plate at an Italian restaurant, but I did here! I can't wait to return!

Wow! First time here but definitely won't be the last!! The burrata was awesome, the branzino was cooked to perfection and the scallops & shrimp over risotto was to die for!! Never had, or even heard of, a gooseberry before but they were on the plate with the burrata so I gave it a whirl. Delicious! Great meal - will DEFINITELY go back!

I stopped by for a quick lunch and was impressed with their fast casual hot meals. My group mentioned that the fish & chips were some of the best they've had! The lobster roll was also tasty, and it comes generously sized with plenty of lobster meat and sides of coleslaw and your choice of fries, veggies, chips, or corn. The brioche bun for the roll was also perfectly grilled and buttered up. In fact, we learned that the restaurant gets their buns fresh daily from a nearby bakery. Since we had arrived for an earlier lunch and the bread wasn't ready yet, there was actually a ~20+ min delay in getting our food. Regardless, the food was delicious, and the staff were very apologetic and offered to serve our sides while we waited. If we lived closer or brought a cooler, we'd probably bring fresh seafood back home. Would definitely love to stop by again one day!

The staff was very nice but very very green. I saw a couple things that I've never seen before. My conclusion was that they are, like many places, having trouble finding experienced help so they are hiring inexperienced help and they're just too busy to train them. It's not uncommon but it did stand out for us here. If you go here I recommend being prepared for that. We were here in early May and maybe by June it won't be an issue. My one knock that is a big one for me but might not be for you is the requirement to order everything at once. I hate that. If we don't return this will be why. It makes me feel like I'm working for them vs the other way around. Often I change my mind over the appetizer. I might see a dish go by that looks great or I may have a seafood app that is so good I decide to stay with seafood. I know all the arguments about the kitchen being more efficient, etc. but having worked in the business for a couple decades I know that it's not really a big deal to order in stages, particularly with all the technology they have today that we didn't back then. I just really hate having to order my whole meal before I've settled in with my first drink. But if that's not a big deal for you, maybe you always get the same thing or you like it that way, then you'll really like South Bay -Fairfield. The food here is excellent!

On my first visit, I ordered the Parchados Churrasco, served with white rice, Yukon potatoes, guacamole, house salad, and chimichurri sauce, everything was flavorful and well balanced. This time around, I decided to switch it up and tried the Tamal Tolimense (Toli-Paisa). I didn't see it on the menu, but I had spotted it on their Instagram, and they were happy to make it for me. The Tamal Tolimense was a very generous portion. It's a traditional Colombian dish from the Tolima region, wrapped in banana leaves and filled with masa, rice, chicken, pork, vegetables, and egg. The filling was hearty and satisfying, but the masa itself was a bit bland and could have used more salt. We also shared the Parchados Picada (Meat Lovers) for two ($39.80), which came with steak, pork and chicken strips, fried pork belly, pork ribs, sausage, blood sausage, tiny yellow potatoes, arepitas, tomatoes, and ripe plantains. The portions were excellent and definitely worth sharing. For appetizers, we ordered the Canasta de Plátano (stuffed plantain cups with steak, chicken, and shrimp) and the Alitas de Pollo (6 wings with fries) Both were solid choices, though I wasn't a fan of the Mango sauce, I think a mango habanero hot sauce option would have been better. To drink we had spicy margaritas and a round of pomegranate Long Island iced teas, which were strong, flavorful, and well made. The ambiance is another highlight, the space has a great aesthetic, the food is always nicely presented, and the music was on point, with a mix of classic salsa and modern artist such as Bad Bunny. Parking can be tricky on the street, but they do have a parking lot nearby if needed.
