Not sure how I forgot about this place I last went to 8 years ago but on our way back from up north, I was thinking how crazy it is that most ppl think CT pizza is the best. Then I thought of Luigi's and that it was good back then and let me tell you - Luigi's is THE best pizza in CT. That's right. I've had no better in this weird state. Just like the slice I used to get in NY growing up. I asked for lightly baked and the slice folded perfectly, was the perfect texture and actually had flavor and the sauce and cheese were excellent quality- all around a delicious mushroom pie and everyone actually agreed with me! Whew... this was a rough and extremely daunting meal. I can't decipher if being served undercooked linguine alle vongole after waiting 30 minutes or ordering a caprese garnished with store-brought mozzarella and "basil flakes" is more disrespectful than the other. As someone who has spent a summer in Italy/studied abroad, I was absolutely gobsmacked as to why anyone patrons this restaurant! The highlight of the evening was our kind waitress (clearly had absolutely no culinary-based experience and my boyfriend had to open the bottle of wine for her) and the Barolo. That is it. A proper caprese does not feature 4/5ths tomatoes and shards of two leaves of basil. Linguine and clams does not come congealed, with half of the clams closed (ie. dead) and a poor pasta cook (not al dente-- just half cooked). Our waitress informed me that she would be removing the item from the bill.... Um. Hello. I took ONE bite and decided absolutely NOT. We aren't discussing a comp/removal. It's inferred. And the 'tortellini in brodo'?! That I waited another 30 minutes for? Store brought chicken broth, no herbs or elevation. Absolutely sad and inedible. We will likely just contact AMEX. Maybe it's because I'm a New Yorker, well traveled and a damn good cook... Because this place!? Oh no. Blasphemy. Just no flavor or love-- I've had better meals and experiences in a college dorm. Oh! Pro tip! Please don't sit an elegant party of two next to egregiously-behaved children who require medication and therapy. The experience was a fail at "Hello. Party of 2?" *And "this guest" still paid the bill and tipped graciously amidst a very disappointing meal-- as it wasn't our waitress' fault. Went here for lunch for the first time last week. Pasta Fagoli soup was good and served piping hot; certainly looked and tasted homemade. I also had the Timballo which was fresh and delicious; the marinara was so tasty. Also had tiramisu which was outstanding; highly recommend. Had read reviews before going (concerns about food not being homemade and staff issues.) I will say that staff seemed a little tense and harried despite place only being about 1/4 full; no smiles even upon greeting us when we walked in the door. Drink refills were never offered and my water glass sat empty for 30+ minutes (never refilled) and had to flag waitress to collect bill. Would I go back for the food? Absolutely. Would I have felt more like a valued and respected guest with a least an attempt at a smile and being sure we had what we needed during our meal? Also absolutely. read more

So we are back home in Fairfield, CT and we went by our old time favorite Luigi's and noticed it was closed. We got a little nervous but came by again and it was open! We love the staff, owner and his family and the food! When you just want great food, relax with a nice glass of wine or a bar drink and a real Italian dish or just pizza, this is the place ! Went to Luigi's the Friday night of Christmas weekend with our daughter who had flown in for the holidays. Luigi's is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant serving classic Italian food. Everyone enjoyed their food, and for an extremely busy night, the service was friendly and attentive. In the past, I have written that Luigi's pizza which is excellent is the best value in Fairfield County. The quality of their veal scalloppine is second to none. Finally, if you like eggplant, try their Timballo dish. A few comments on very recent reviews below regarding a particular server, Leah. I can't comment of the reviewers statements as I wasn't there at the time. However, I will say what is described as Leah's actions are totally uncharacteristic of her. We have always found Leah, friendly, professional and properly attentive. Moreover, what is described is uncharacteristic of anyone at Luigi's. We'll be back. read more

My family and I are in town for a sick relative and decided to go out to eat at this supposedly good restaurant and the waitress had a damn meltdown because someone's food came out wrong and the customer said something about it. She became very sarcastic and rude and slammed down menus, silverware and plates and just was unbearable. She needs to be terminated immediately! That was an experience in itself, then my Chicken parm was like rubber and sent it back. This place will never see me or my money again. read more

Loved this place. We were the first ones in on a Saturday morning. The service was excellent and friendly. We ordered mozzarella stick which were delicious and an antipasto platter which was full of fresh goodnes. For our lunch we had an order of Canneloni, a meatball grinder and a large cheese pizza. Everything we ordered was delicious. The flavors were amazing. My grinder was delicious and perfectly sized. Not huge but also substantially sized. Stopped in for the first time and was glad we did! Everything was perfect, nice ambiance, excellent service and great food! What else could you want? We started with salads that were fresh, great tomatoes, olives, etc. with warm bread, yummy. The calamari over linguini was perfect. Nice amount of garlic made for a beautiful meal The chicken francese with a side of angel hair pasta was also perfect. No room for deserts, maybe next time. Delicious food however the waitress kind of gave us the bums rush because they wanted to close early. I recommend the Shrimp Gamberi.

We just happened to go to Luigis three times in one week, which isn't the norm for us at all. We had three experiences and two were bad. One was good. All experiences were take out. Experience 1: ordered a pizza, and a spaghetti and meatballs dinner. In the past our observation at this place was they tell you the order will be ready long after it actually is. We have many times picked up pizza that has been sitting out at least fifteen minutes and needed reheating. It's annoying to not be given an accurate time and to have to eat cold pizza. Same thing happened this time with the cold pizza. But worse, the spaghetti and meatballs was missing the meatballs and the portion of spaghetti is attached in a photo. Unbelievably, this is not the "leftovers". This is the full portion. We did ask, when prompted with a choice, if we wanted "homemade" pasta, and maybe that explains it but we expected to pay more, not be given a cup of spaghetti. It wasn't even as tasty as boxed unfortunately. And obviously the missing meatballs was truly annoying. We called and were told our name would be out on the chalkboard (??) that they owed us a spaghetti and meatballs. It was not possible for them to refund, although we had only paid minutes prior. This brings us to (Experience # two)the next night because we didn't want to be erased from their chalkboard. We explained that our name was on the board for a free spaghetti and meatballs and it was confirmed. But when we went to pick up the meal and another pizza fifteen minutes later, they tried to charge us full price for the pasta. We had to have an extended argument and were told it was impossible that our spaghetti was free-absolutely could not be true. This was embarrassing for my teen whom I had sent in. Arguing with an adult is uncomfortable for her and I feel it was done on purpose because of her age. The pizza was ok but not hot again. The pasta (this time we ordered boxed) was better but a bit less sauce may be in order. The container was probably half full this time. The meatballs were small, but pretty good. This time, no bread was served. Though we had vowed we were done with Luigi's, last night (experience three) we had a big gathering and we're outvoted mainly due to the hours of operation and it was later. This time the pizza (we ordered four) was pretty good. So at this point it is a very mixed bag. We are definitely leaning toward trying a different place next time. Luigi's has been my favorite pizza place ever since I was a kid, and every time I come back to Fairfield I make sure to stop here. I love the pizza, I love the entrees, and I love how this place has been able to grow over the years without losing the quality of the food I've always loved so much. The decor is modern and comfortable without being too stuffy. Even though nowadays I maybe only make it here once a year, whenever I walk through the door I'm treated with excellent service even though I'm clearly not a regular. My favorites here are the pizza, the chicken parm grinder, and the meatball parm grinder. Their salads are great, the table bread is great. I just wish I lived closer so I could explore more of the menu more often rather than just sticking to my old favorites that I'd missed and been craving! read more

Let me start by saying that I'm definitely spoiled by the food capital of the world that is New Haven. Having said that, good food is good food. High or low expectations won't effect the taste of a bad dinner. My family and friends went with me to grab some last minute dinner here. The appetizers were okay and the bread was not terrible. Then the main course arrived. I was shocked and appalled when I saw that my pasta was swimming, yes you read that right, SWIMMING in alfredo sauce. The house pasta was not good at all. My friends and family were disappointed as well. Their pasta was swimming in olive oil and not seasoned well at all. So to sum it up, if you want a pasta aquarium on a plate look no further! Luigis it is! Sorry Luigi, give my respects to Mario. P.S. It quickly occurred to me that my family ordered an awful pizza from this same restaurant 17 years ago when we used to live in the area. I had assumed this joint replaced the "pizza place" at this location, until I realized this restaurant sells pizza. So that's 2 bad meals from Luigis. Not the mention the delivery driver was a massive jerk. 17 years later but still remember how awful the service was. read more

Prices are very reasonable for first rate Italian food and you can't go wrong with anything you order. Food and service is a "5" the decor is fine but a tad Spartan. After living in BlackRock for 25 years, a friend took me to Luigi's. I am now a confirmed believer that you can get really good Italian food at a reasonable price and in a friendly environment. The eggplant dishes are excellent, the pasta perfectly cooked and the sauce is almost as good as my own. As an Italian I usually avoid eating in "Italian" restaurants as I am always disappointed BUT LUIGI'S CHANGED MY MIND. read more

Arrived at Luigis tonight in a festive mood excited for a delicious dinner only to be met by an unfriendly hostess/waitress who then became angry slamming plates and yelling at customers. Dinner was ruined for many and we could not help but reach out to each other across the tables in disbelief It felt dangerous, money was wasted and our holiday cheer ruined. If I could give 4.5 stars, I would. I've come here at least a dozen times over the last five years and I've never been disappointed. Here, the food quality is superior and the selections are solid. I will say that the meals sizes are a bit small compared to others in Fairfield, but their pizza is delicious and underrated compared to others in the area and you honestly can't beat the price. The meals here are good and I would rate them 4 out of 5 stars. I feel like this is more of a casual everyday restaurant and not necessarily a place to visit for a special occasion. My favorite dish is the chicken parm and I highly recommend it to anyone. They have a seasonal outdoor patio, which I enjoy in the summer and recommend to others. read more

I am usually not the person to write a review, but the experience I had tonight was by far the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. I had reservations for my family, for my grandmothers 80th birthday dinner and our waitress was Lia (May be spelled incorrectly). The restaurant's dining room was full, so I expected things to take longer to get to the table, and that was not an issue. My mother, and aunt ordered a gnocchi and broccoli meal that was supposed to come with garlic and oil sauce, and decided to add sausage to the plate. Their meals came out with red sauce and they explained that they did not want red sauce. A quick I'm sorry let me fix that for you would have been the appropriate answer as I fully understand mistakes do happen. To much of our surprise Lia erupted saying "that is what you ordered do not tell me I'm wrong I've been working here for 27 years, and you're wrong." I understand that restaurants can get stressful under pressure from a full dining room especially during the holiday season, but for someone with "27 years of experience" it was surprising. To top things off Lia then had another couple come in for dinner. With a full dining room the couple asked to be seated at one of the the few open tables still available. Lia still in an agitated state then said "I don't care where the hell you sit!" Lia then took the menu's and threw them at the customers and their table and The whole restaurant went silent. I understand how someone can get stressed out in high pressure situations, as my career is demanding and I also deal with people in high pressure situations on a daily basis, but this is no way to act. As someone who has this much experience in her field Lia made an embarrassment of herself, her fellow staff, the dining room, and the restaurant in its entirety. The night was saved though by Lia's coworker a brunette waitress with glasses whom's name I did not receive. She was younger then Lia, and took on every table after what Lia did, and expressed maturity, professional, and pride in herself to take over a bad situation and turn it around which ultimately saved my grandmothers 80th birthday. i live by the Saying "One person can ruin it for everybody" which did happen tonight and I will never forget this experience. Really torn. Lunch size order of pasta with Eggplant was watery but tasty. Next time I ordered a dinner order of gnocchi with Broccoli. Gnocchi were like lead and garlic oil was oddly flavorless. The best value/taste/portion size in the area. Been going there for many years and enjoy the family and the atmosphere. If they ever expand and add a bar I might just have to move next door. First of all, the restaurant was too warm, we almost left. But, we stayed and ordered Calamari. It was meh, fried right, and the two types of marinara weren't bad, but it was tough and chewy. We ordered a large pizza with mushrooms and sausage. I don't like charred black edges, and the bottom of some of the pieces were almost burnt. The crust was flavorless, too. The service was OK.
