Vespino Pizza + Restaurant is a modern Italian restaurant and New York-style pizzeria that opened in Fairfield, Connecticut in March 2023. It was founded by Italian immigrant restaurateurs and business partners Nunzio DeTommaso and Biagio "Gino" Riccio. DeTommaso ran Gravina Pizzeria in Greenwich for a number of years before it closed, while Riccio is most well-known for founding Quattro Pazzi Café in Fairfield in 1997. In this new collaborative venture between the two, DeTommaso and Riccio serve authentic New York-style pizza in a friendly and casual atmosphere. The name "Vespino" is a reference to a brand of mopeds which are a popular mode of transportation in major Italian cities. In addition to the signature New York-style pizza, the menu also consists of Detroit-style pizza, Italian entrees, pasta dishes, salads, classic antipasti, beer, wine and craft cocktails. In summer 2024, Vespino was sold to restaurateur Marcelo Acosta. My family and I recently had dinner at Vespino for the first time. We've had them on our "must-try" list of restaurants for some time and we were excited to finally sample their food. There were some fancy-sounding drinks on their cocktail menu, so I decided to order the "Sardinian Special" (Redemption bourbon, prickly pear, citrus, mint). This delicious cocktail reminded me of being on a warm Italian beach: a nice distraction from the freezing cold temperatures outside. For food, I ordered the "Burrata Pizza" (mozzarella, tomato sauce, topped with/ fresh burrata & EVOO), my wife ordered the "Tortelloni" (peas, prosciutto, mushrooms, vodka sauce), our older son had the "Kids Chicken Tenders" (w/ fries), and our younger son had the "Kids Penne Pasta" (w/ butter). We all really liked our food! My pizza had a crispy crust, really creamy burrata, and an excellent sauce! My wife loved her pasta, especially the vodka sauce). Overall, we all had a great experience at Vespino and would love to return. Next time I really want to try their Detroit-style pizza. read more

My boyfriend and I split the truffle personal pie, and overall we had a good experience. The pizza came out fresh and piping hot. It was topped with shredded mozzarella, ricotta, caramelized onions, truffle oil, and he added sausage. I enjoyed the truffle flavor.. it wasn't overpowering and everything worked well together. The pizza was flavorful, and I can see why it's a popular choice. That said, as a Bronx native, I wouldn't call this New York style pizza, it's not the kind I grew up with. The crust was nice and thin, but toward the center of the pie it got a little soggy. I just wish the crispiness stayed more consistent from edge to center. The restaurant itself has a small takeout area when you first walk in, but through the double doors there's a full dining room with a bar, so it's larger than it initially appears. While we only tried the pizza this visit, after looking at photos of the menu on Yelp, id say their dinner dishes look delicious. I'd definitely come back and try their chicken and pasta! read more

I suggested to my friend who was dying for some pizza or eggplant that we go here based on the great reviews; sadly we were both disappointed. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and the place was empty, save for one gentlemen. The dining space is shared with the bar and the tables were nicely set. We did not get the friendliest of welcomes and the wait staff seemed almost annoyed at our questions and not being ready to order. We were in no rush. My friend thought about getting the eggplant and asked if it could be prepared without the breading. No was the reply. Ok. Pizzas are only 1 size, personal size 12 inch. No other choices. So we ordered a plain cheese pizza and a half eggplant/half crumbled sausage. The cheese pizza was edible, but nothing to return for. The eggplant on half of the pizza had an off putting taste and was mushy. Not at all appetizing. The sausage was meh. Pizza crust was thin but lacked flavor, sauce was sparse and lacking depth or flavor. I did not eat the eggplant 1/2 pizza and the server asked if I wanted it boxed up. "No thank you." She then proceeded to tell me that was a waste and it was only a personal sized people and I should've had no problems eating it. Rude. Prices were high for the quality of food that was served. Restrooms were clean and plenty of parking, but I do not recommend and will not be returning. read more

This pizza spot was great! I stopped here on my travels to get a pool pump. I got the truffle personal pie that came with shredded mozzarella, truffle oil, caramelized onions and ricotta. And I added sausage to it. The pie was made fresh and served really hot! I loved it the crust was thin and the flavors were all there. Its a small space when you walk in to order out but they have a full bar and restaurant style seating when you walk in through the double doors. Stopped in for a weekend late launch at Vespino. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We started with garlic bread. I had chicken palliard and my fiance ordered a cheese Detroit style pizza. Garlic bread was different. It was dipped in maybe a garlic parsley oil instead of garlic and butter. It was ok. They brought my fiancé a normal cheese pizza instead of the Detroit ordered. My palliard was good and nice fresh ingredients but was still hungry after as it was 2 very thin pieces of chicken. It was alright but not sure we'd come back. read more

Was very surprised at how amazing this restaurant is because i never heard about it before coming. The food quality was excellent we loved the fried calamari with spicy marinara. The best dish of the night was hands down the barolo short rib over gnocchi . My dad got the eggplant and chicken piccata both were good!! We dropped by during restaurant week for lunch and it's great way to taste the menu! Plenty of seating and great for families or a date. The portions are large and we were so full we weren't hungry for dinner. Everything was wonderful and would order the same exact meal again. I'm a big francese fan and this is definitely top of my list. The watermelon salad was new to us and we loved the freshness, sweet, and savoriness. A must try summer salad! I finally checked out this restaurant. We went right before 4pm on a weekday. Our party was the only one dining in. We selected our table by the Christmas tree. I loved the dim lightning and chill holiday music they were playing. We ordered the Chicken Parmigiana with Penne Vodka sauce, brushetta and a Cucumber Margarita. Everything was delicious. The most satisfying was the bruschetta. The bread was perfectly crispy and the tomatoes and balsamic glaze were divine. They also served house bread which was just ok. The main entree satisfied our cravings. I really enjoyed dining here. The table settings and the whole experience. It was surprising to see they have a nice, separate take out area with bottled drinks, tv menu screens and a place to sit and wait. I will definitely return to try more dishes. read more

Vespino Pizza Restaurant is a great addition in Fairfield, Connecticut. I came here for lunch and ordered takeout. The restaurant is very clean, modern, and has a bar. The restaurant is beautiful. I ordered a half Cheese and Bacon Pizza. The pizza was pretty good. Good flavors, crispy, and the bacon on the pizza was great. The bacon was nicely cooked and they weren't cheap on the bacon toppings. The staff were all really nice and greeted everyone. I would definitely have to come back and sit down to dine in to get a hot pizza out the stove. read more

We wanted to try a few things so we ordered the meatballs, bruschetta, burrata pizza, and pork Milanese. The bruschetta might've been the best that I've ever had. Absolutely delicious. tl;dr: Positioned as a Pizza restaurant, its worst virtue is Pizza. on this side of town the restaurant choices are slim to none, other than Little Pub (good, but gets boring after a while...), Taj (pretty good but unlike the Indian street vendor videos where the make food fast, waiting for your meal is an eternity despite 50 people working in the place...)... i digress... had high hopes for this place as being a "on trend" place to eat. with some ambiance to match. nope. it's a pizza place with nicer seating, a bar, and some salads. the latter are decent, but the Pizza is an oily mess with toppings thrown about. the crust is tasteless. it's an average oily pie you can get anywhere. i recently had a frozen Zuppardis pie and it tasted better than this place. maybe it's nice to go there for salad and a glass of wine, in a somewhat "trendy" atmosphere, but good pizza it isn't. read more

I found this restaurant online because I was in search of a beet salad and was passing through the area. It was an outstanding salad and I have never received so many beets in one salad!! It had creamy goat cheese and pistachios which made it crunchy. Our waiter Peter was so attentive and nice. We will definitely be back! Owner/managers were present and checked in with us throughout our meal.
