From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a cheerful and welcoming staff, all full of smiles. The office itself is clean and organized, with a cozy waiting area that made me feel right at home. Upon entering my exam room, I discovered a lovely welcome gift waiting for me, which added a nice personal touch to my visit. Although I don't generally have fear of dental visits, Maria offered me comfort items like a blanket, water, a stress ball, neck pillow, and more--making the experience even more enjoyable. My hygienist, Camille, was exceptional--her gentle approach and calming tone put me at ease immediately. She maintained great communication throughout the entire visit, which I really appreciated. The X-rays were easy to manage, and they also took regular photos of my teeth for before-and-after treatment purposes and chart references. The cleaning process was fantastic; my teeth feel incredibly clean and happy after my visit. Overall, I want to extend a big thank you to everyone at Monroe Smiles for making my first appointment such a wonderful experience!

After some useless discussion about what this was about Dr Johnson told me to find another dentist. Apparently my not just accepting repeated phrases like "our standard of care" and "ADA guidelines" was problematic. I was kind of insistent that I wanted to research what they were doing for myself. So I am now with a different dentist -- who is better rated, and even his receptionist was able to give me a sufficiently satisfying explanation of this new taking BPs of patients. Apparently it isn't some kind of screening thing, but ADA and state guidelines say that different levels of dental procedures have different rules based on patient BP (e.g. above 140/100 they aren't even supposed to do a cleaning). And they need your BP to know whether they can treat. Dr. Johnson or his hygienist could have just said that. Instead we had this discussion about my PCP's monitoring of my BP rather than my dentist. He should have just explained WHY it was medically important to assess my BP before even a cleaning. Unfortunately Dr Johnson and his hygienist would only say things about "standards of care", Monroe Smile's clinical processes, how many hypertensive patients they identify, etc -- and never just explain that Monroe Smiles would be negligent if they did a even a cleaning on somebody with unacceptably high BP and something went wrong. There has been a pattern of arrogance and poor explanations in the 10 years I have been at Monroe Smiles --- so maybe it is a good thing to move onto a dentist where even the receptionist can explain things clearly. (She even addressed my privacy concerns). As I age I have become more diligent about researching and asking questions related to my healthcare rather than just blindly doing what I am told. Often this leads to better outcomes and a more successful interaction with my health providers. Monroe Smiles doesn't seem to be a place where this is easy to do.

People have different experiences at whatever practice they go to - but Monroe Family Dentistry has earned my trust.

Dr. Baik and his wife Dr. Song are excellent Dentists, and first class people. I trust them with my mouth. They surround themselves with a staff that are real pro's, from Dental assistants Whitney and Unis, to all around utility and billing expert Hannah, whom never ceases to amaze me with her magic EOB pencil. I had some trepidation going into todays surgery, and it was reflected in my blood pressure. Dr. Baik did not take that lightly, and acted accordingly. During the procedure, there was a little more bleeding than he liked, but again he adjusted, kept calm, and walked his knowledgeable assistants, plural, (and me) through it. After the procedure he went over it again with me, and I could tell he was visibly pleased with the results Under direction from them, I am sitting at home now and the numbness has worn off. I have no pain, no bleeding, and it is as if I had not even been at the dentist at all ... almost. Jenny also goes here. Her grandfather was a dentist, her mother a dental assistant, and she takes her oral care seriously, so that speaks volumes to me. Go here, you will not be sorry.

We moved during the middle of Covid and no one was accepting new patients at the time. I went around 2 years between my last cleaning and now. At some point I quit trying to get in anywhere. Until I could no longer tolerate my mossier than a Washington Rain Forest teeth. It was so bad, I thought I had something stuck in my gum. They got me in within 48 hours of my call. Turns out it was calculous build up irritating my gum. I hope I didn't drive Jonny too nuts, but he got out the issue and now my gum needs a little time to heal. Signing up my kids and my husband next. I don't recommend going that long between Dental cleanings! The good news: NO CAVITIES! Anyway, everyone at Sky Valley Dental is happy. You can tell that they have an amazing work environment and that translates to exceptional care.
