I was not surprised when I looked under the hood to find ATI is private equity owned. The employees in Evanston are great, but when they tried to get visibility on how much visits would cost, it was an incredibly arduous process. When I finally received what I thought to be reasonable guidance, I proceeded but was told I wouldn't know for sure the exact bill until weeks later. When I saw my bill, the sticker shock was terrifying. Had I known what some sessions would cost, I certainly would not have been able to afford and would not have sought service here. Perhaps this dynamic was in play from the beginning and is why they don't make it easy to understand a general range of what service might cost. When I finally got on the phone with someone to discuss my bill, I was offered a 5% concession, then a 10% concession, then a 15% concession - rather than fixing my bill that was 200% higher than what I was led to believe. My heart breaks for others in similar situations and I hope healthcare gets the regulation and oversight it deserves to provide consumers with price visibility - especially for private equity owned businesses.

They offer free valet service during the preferred visiting hours, ice cream and popcorn for patients and guests as well as two activity/visiting rooms which are very inviting. What really impressed me is that the staff always pitches in wherever is needed, no one acted as if, "that's not my job". The PT and OT staff was all that; Nisha, Karolyn, Tom aka "Supervisor", Yajaoli, Edward, Rhonda, Tess, and so many more. One could not as for better treatment, honestly!! The downfalls were the EXTREMELY uncomfortable beds and the TERRIBLE food! The food was the worst in any institution I've ever had, even in schools. It baffled me. But, it worked in my favor, I ate less, and too, some of my peeps brought me some food every so often. Shout out to the management TEAM at Alden Estates, Skokie. You deserve recognition and raises and I'm not saying that because you told me to! Lol jk Thanks for the excellent care!

My kids loved spending time with them and also had so much fun "playing" not even realizing they were practicing speech. He had started speech therapy through another agency, however he was not progressing or enjoying the sessions. We switched to this agency and the difference was like night and day! When Kate first contacted us I was incredibly impressed by her professionalism and attention to detail (I'm a clinical social worker - so my standards for service delivery and therapeutic outcomes are very high. And hey, this therapy is for my kid. And he rocks). Our first session with Kate was fantastic. My son warmed to her straight away, and from then on would stand by the window before each session waiting for her to turn up. And open and close the door for her like the gentleman he is. During the first week, we spent time setting goals and talking about how we would be able to assess his development. I also appreciated that Kate told me from the beginning, that she would be transitioning us over to a new therapist, Angie, in a few months. The transition was seamless. Both Kate and Angie have worked so hard with my son and genuinely care about him. They celebrate his successes and cheer him on as loudly as we do. Both have a freakishly good memory and know all his favorite toys, games and activities. Even his favorite color (orange...weird choice, but ok). Angie has even visited his school and met with his teacher to provide extra education for her. So cool. More than anything, I have appreciated how family-centered their practice is. Both therapists have provided us with a wealth of education about ways we can work with him at home, recommendations for schooling and invaluable support and advice. Last year, we had a grunting and screaming kid who was shy and retreating further into his shell. Now we have a little dude that is confident, can string a sentence together and has a wide vocab ("sour cream" and "mouthwash" - anyone?). The greatest joy is to see him so happy and understood by others! I cannot recommend this agency more highly!

She helped our baby over a handful of appointments (~2 months, every couple weeks) to tackle torticolis, which was so successful that we were able to avoid having to do any baby helmet treatment (usually ~$2000 because it's typically not covered by insurance since it's considered cosmetic). Our baby had a flat spot on the side of her head early on, so with the recommendation by her pediatrician we went for a helmet consultation relatively early around 3 months. They said treatment couldn't start until baby had sufficient neck control and the treatment would likely need to be combined with PT. To get ahead and because we really didn't want to do the helmet if possible, we pursued PT as soon as we could. It was impossible to find anyone in our insurance network and everyone we looked into had rates that were about the same. My own PT for postpartum recovery and other locals highly recommended Kids on the Grow, so we went with them! They also came to our place for all of the appointments, which was extremely helpful as sleep deprived first time parents. With baby PT you need to be involved and do "homework" with your baby in between appointments, but they make it really fun and it's wonderful to see the progress!! Initially we did have some issues contacting their office because they didn't get any of our emails or phone calls. My own PT had to help connect us via email. Otherwise, once we got a hold of them the staff who we also communicated with were very good. All paperwork was done digitally, which was super convenient.
